The Microsoft Support team released the following Knowledge Base articles with solutions to these issues:

KB 2537764: Considerations for Lync Online when you change an Office 365 sign-in address

Issue : When a user’s Microsoft Office 365 sign-in address (or user ID) is changed, the Microsoft Lync Online SIP address for the user is automatically synchronized. Previously, when a user’s Office 365 sign-in address was changed, the IT administrator had to update the user's SIP address separately to match the new Office 365 sign-in address. Otherwise, the two values would be mismatched. A mismatch between a user ID and the user's SIP address may cause confusion for the Lync Online user during sign in.

KB 2839539: Enterprise Single Sign On users in Office 365 are unable to login to Lync Online from inside their corporate network

Issue : A Microsoft Office 365 for enterprises, Microsoft Office 365 for education, or Microsoft Office 365 for midsize business customer sets up single sign-on (SSO) in Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) 2.0. Federated users who connect from inside their corporate network can't sign in to Lync Online from Lync 2013, and they receive the following error message: Cannot sign in because the server is temporarily unavailable.
