Today, at Microsoft Ignite 2017, we are excited to share an emboldened vision for Yammer - one that creates greater definition and clarity for the role and future of Yammer as a core part of Microsoft 365.

Drive productivity through deeper SharePoint integration, the new desktop app and more
Capabilities such as seamless sharing and easy access are critical to creating a social platform that allows employees to get better work done, faster.
SharePoint and Yammer come together to create a better social intranet that bridges information and conversation. We are excited to announce that a new mobile-ready web-part for integrating your Yammer conversations into SharePoint sites will be available in the coming month. In addition, we are enriching the preview and editing experience of SharePoint documents within Yammer, as well as building out default SharePoint file storage and OneNote services for Office 365-connected Yammer groups. All this functionality can be accessed in the new Yammer desktop app, now available for Windows and Mac. The app can be downloaded today, along with capabilities for admins to manage deployment through services such as SCCM.

Build in enterprise-grade control, security and compliance
As part of the Office Trust Center, we are committed to providing customers with enterprise-grade security and compliance.
We are pleased to announce that we will be rolling out a highly requested capability for customers outside the U.S. to store their Yammer messaging data regionally. Currently in preview, we are rolling out local data residency starting with new customers in Europe in the first half of 2018, with other regions and rollout to existing customers to follow.
These investments will also allow us to, over time, build eDiscovery, Data Loss Prevention and Customer Lockbox capabilities for Yammer within the Office admin center, in a commitment to providing a singular and consistent experience for our customers. The Yammer team also remains closely aligned with the Office Trust Center to ensure compliance with GDPR requirements.
Accelerate successful community management
Strong connections within organizations are oftentimes built through the efforts of community managers. These are individuals who lay the foundation of expectations, determine how Yammer can drive business value and measure the impact of Yammer on your organization.
We are thrilled to share new group insights, which will be available directly in Yammer in the coming months, to help community managers better understand and nurture their Yammer groups. Built with extensive feedback, group insights will allow group owners and members to have a comprehensive view of engagement including posts, reads and likes.
Group insights give you a view of people and content activity trends for group members and non-members across 7-day, 28-day and 12-month periods. This data will also be available for you to export directly from Yammer so you can create reports and make decisions with ease.

We continue to build Yammer reporting capabilities into the Office 365 admin center, so you can gain a better understanding of how your organization is using and adopting Yammer. Over the past year, Yammer user, device and groups activity data has been made available in the Office 365 Usage Reporting Dashboard. These reports help admins understand how people in their organization are using Yammer so they can prioritize efforts, improve training and measure adoption success.
Office 365 Usage Analytics - currently available as preview as Office 365 Adoption Content Pack - combine Yammer user and device data with interactive analysis capabilities through Power BI, so that admins can create and share richer reports. You will soon be able to access Yammer group activity data as part of the general availability of Office 365 Usage Analytics in early 2018.

Next week, Yammer group data will be integrated into the Microsoft Graph reporting APIs, so that you can customize your own reports, analysis and scorecards of your IT services in one unified place.
Lastly, the newly released Office 365 Reports Reader Role allows IT admins to provide business stakeholders outside of IT with access to usage and adoption reporting.
