IMO, gamification is trying to incentivize engagement and participation. I think the best way to drive sustainable engagement and participation is through real, human interaction. If someone asks a question and they don't get a response, they're probably not likely to come back. But if someone posts and they get a response or a like, they get a sense that the community is alive and vibrant and are more likely to return. I generally think the approach to building engagement should start with good old fashioned human interaction. If you've committed to that it's still not working, perhaps some gamification solution is warranted.
We do have some partners like Bunchball and Badgeville that integrate with Yammer.

I sort of do this today. In my performance reviews, I'll share links to conversations I've contributed to that appear to have had some form of impact.

Sorry, don't buy it, yes that behavior may be part of your user base, but very busy tech folks (and I'm usually working 3-4 projects at once, which means I can't even track the Roadmap for my team) would appreciate the ability to download that information a couple of weeks before review.
Metrics. Numbers. Hard to establish as a Business Analyst, High Level Support Analyst, Service Engineer or Architect. At least software engineers/developers can point to lines of code (another number).
Who said anything about a leaderboard? Tracking and being able to download the data's much more important than vanity.
Think outside the box, people.
