"Join the Windows insider program" Bug?
I'm experiencing a persistent issue when trying to join the Windows Insider Program. The option to enroll or switch to the program seems to be broken or unresponsive, and I keep encountering errors or the option remains greyed out, preventing me from participating in Insider builds.BennettFrostDec 15, 2025Iron Contributor3Views0likes0CommentsYou can now boot a Windows 95 PC inside Minecraft and play Doom on it
I'm having trouble with the Windows 11 Start Menu layout, which has suddenly changed from a 3-column to a 2-column display, disrupting my workflow and making it difficult for me to access my frequently used apps. I've tried checking for updates and adjusting my display settings, but nothing seems to be working and I'm at a loss for how to get back to the layout I'm used to.EzraOakDec 15, 2025Iron Contributor2Views0likes0CommentsI thought it was just Windows
You're experiencing a frustrating issue with the Windows 11 Start Menu layout, which has changed from a 3-column to a 2-column display, disrupting your muscle memory and workflow. This layout change has made it difficult for you to access your frequently used apps quickly and efficiently, as you're forced to relearn the new layout and navigate through it.DassinkunDec 15, 2025Iron Contributor128Views0likes2CommentsMissing MSR partition on UEFI/GPT Boot drive (only 3 partitions)
Hi, I'm just noticed my home PC only has 3 partitions on my 1-Tb boot drive that I recently (2 months back?) upgraded to Windows 11. My cloned back up also only has 3 partitions, also missing the MSR partition. I always have 2 drives, one in the computer and one that I use for making a cloned backup. I guess my fault for not checking, but they always worked....so I checked my older drives that had cloned dates on them of 2020 and 2021, that I had used to clone to the new 1-Tb drives and just tossed those 500-gb ones in my drawer....and they also only have 3 partitions, also missing the MSR partition. So whatever the cause, it hasn't given me any problems for 2-3 years. So should I be concerned? And I checked my computer at work and it HAS 4 partitions, including the MSR partition?????BonniewestDec 15, 2025Bronze Contributor94Views1like2CommentsDid a Windows repair install fully fix my WindowsApps permission issue?
Hey everyone im on the newest Windows 11 version which I tunk should be 25H2, I’m trying to figure out whether a Windows repair install actually fixes the permissions on the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder. Long story short: I previously changed ownership of the WindowsApps folder so I could access a file path. I later switched the ownership back, but even after restoring permissions I could still open the folder using the direct path. In File Explorer it was hidden, but I could still access everything if I typed the exact location. I also tried resetting permissions with icacls, enabling inheritance, etc., but kept running into Access denied errors. I also ran some similar command I found online because I was desperate to get it back into its original state. Then I tried a repair install, the folder disappeared again in File Explorer and is listed as SHR when I check attributes, but I’m not fully sure whether the security settings are truly back to the default state, or whether there's still something misconfigured in the background. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Does a Windows repair install actually restore the WindowsApps folder permissions to stock defaults, or do I still need to manually fix something?BhevesYDec 15, 2025Iron Contributor27Views0likes1CommentHow to download songs on spotify for free from my computer?
Alright, I feel like I'm missing something obvious here. I have Spotify Premium, and everyone says you can download stuff for offline listening, but I can't figure out where the button is. I'm about to be on a flight with no wifi and desperately need to get my playlists saved. Help a confused soul out. What’s the exact step-by-step to download songs on spotify? Do I download whole playlists, or can I do individual songs/albums? I tapped around the app but just don’t see a clear "download" toggle. Thanks in advance for any simple instructions. You’ll be saving my long flight from being completely music-less. I promise I have Premium, so I should have the feature!ElliottHayesDec 15, 2025Iron Contributor46Views0likes8CommentsI know that windows insider builds are unstable but not THAT much
I understand that Windows Insider builds can be unstable since they are pre-release versions, but in my experience, they are not as unstable as many people think. While occasional bugs and glitches do occur, most of the Insider builds I have used offer a relatively smooth experience with useful new features, making them worth trying for those who want early access to upcoming Windows updates.LennoxFordDec 15, 2025Iron Contributor42Views0likes2CommentsAnticipating Windows 12: Enhancements We Long For
As we eagerly anticipate the release of Windows 12, it's essential to voice our expectations and desires for the next iteration of this iconic operating system. Here's a breakdown of what we hope to see in Windows 12: Faster Execution: We envision a Windows 12 that operates with lightning speed, offering seamless performance even on older hardware. Enhancements in optimization and resource management are paramount to achieving this goal. Users crave an OS that responds instantaneously to commands and launches applications swiftly, enhancing productivity and user satisfaction. Better UI Design: A visually appealing and intuitive user interface is integral to the Windows experience. We anticipate a sleek and modern design language in Windows 12, with customizable elements to cater to individual preferences. Consistency across all aspects of the UI, from icons to menus, will streamline navigation and enhance user interaction. Support for Android Apps: In an increasingly interconnected digital landscape, the integration of Android app support into Windows 12 would be a game-changer. Seamless compatibility with popular Android applications would broaden the software ecosystem, empowering users with access to a vast array of tools and services. This integration would bridge the gap between PC and mobile platforms, offering a unified experience across devices. Enhanced Security Features: Security remains a top priority for users in an age of digital threats and privacy concerns. Windows 12 must bolster its defenses with robust built-in security features, including advanced encryption, secure boot processes, and proactive threat detection mechanisms. Empowering users with greater control over their data privacy settings and implementing stringent security protocols will instill confidence in the platform. Expanded App Store Library: The Windows Store is a cornerstone of the Windows ecosystem, providing users with a curated selection of applications and utilities. However, we aspire to see an expansion of the Store's offerings in Windows 12, with a focus on quality and diversity. Encouraging developers to bring their apps to the platform through incentives and support programs will enrich the user experience and foster innovation. In conclusion, Windows 12 represents an opportunity to redefine the standards of excellence in operating system design. By addressing the expectations outlined above – faster execution, better UI design, support for Android apps, enhanced security features, and an expanded app store library – Microsoft can deliver a next-generation OS that delights users and propels the Windows platform into the future. Let's continue to engage in constructive discussions and feedback as we embark on this exciting journey toward Windows 12.SunilKumarFxDec 14, 2025Copper Contributor25KViews4likes18CommentsWIndows 12 64 bit download
