What spec PC do I need for a reasonable experience on Windows 11
I mainly use Linux these days, but unfortunately there are still a few things that I need Windows for. My current Windows 10 PC is very old and more or less unusable. If I haven't used it for a few weeks it sometimes takes many hours just to boot. What is the lowest spec I could get away with to have a reasonably well-functioning Windows 11 system? I will mainly use it for editing particular documents where there is no Linux editor available. I might also use it for music editing (FL studio), but that is just a hobby. I'm not a gamer, so I don't need a fancy graphics card. I couple of years ago I made the mistake of upgrading my wife's PC with a very cheap windows box (about £300 new). It runs but it is painfully slow. I really wish I has spent a bit more. I don't want to make the same mistake again. I will definitely get as SSD this time that should improve things. What processor and RAM will I need to have a system that just runs normally?EliaspefoDec 18, 2025Iron Contributor7Views0likes0CommentsPC freezes a LOT after upgrading to Windows 11
I noticed that my computer freezes a lot after i upgraded from windows 10 (through media creation tool btw) and i thought that it would be fixed after a few months or so and thought it was only happening with me turns out that my friend also had the exact same problem and it wasn't unique to say the least... what i figured from task manager is that whenever ANY of my harddrives are being used (an Old NVME card with windows on it, a SATA SSD and an HDD) the entire pc freezes not only just used but like whenever chrome or edge are auto updating or when discord auto updates, hell... even when i open a zip file the pc freezes had absolutely zero problems when i was in windows 10 and all this suddenly started happening and its driving me insane here are some specs of the pc if that helps... CPU: Ryzen 5 2600X (3.60 GHz) RAM: 16GB (2933 MHz) GPU: GTX 1080 OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 OS Build: 26200.7019 would love to know what changed from win10 or how do i even fix this thanks in advance!GarciabDec 18, 2025Iron Contributor5Views0likes0CommentsHow to revert to Windows 10 MS Paint on Windows 11?
I recently finally switched to Windows 11 after Windows 10 end of support, however the new MS Paint feels oversimplified and is generally just unfamiliar and strange, at least for me. Is it possible to switch back to the Windows 10 design?ThomasKingDec 18, 2025Iron Contributor66Views0likes3CommentsAudio from videos containing Dolby Audio cannot be played within Movies & TV APP.
Audio from videos containing Dolby Audio cannot be played within Movies & TV APP. My Dolby Access is purchased and activated, and there are no issues with the sound card driver. My system is running on Windows 10 LTSC edition, and while both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are activated within Dolby Access, I find that Windows Movies & TV fails to decode all Dolby formats including Dolby Atmos audio tracks, resulting in no sound output, even though the color reproduction of Dolby Vision is accurate. Strangely, within the same Movies & TV application, DTS-HD and DTS:X audio tracks play without any issues. Even more puzzling, the open-source VLC player is capable of properly activating and utilizing Dolby Atmos audio tracks and displaying compatibility with Dolby Atmos for Headphones. What should I do?MingjiePanDec 18, 2025Copper Contributor322Views0likes2CommentsMsinfo32.exe not able to open .nfo files
Hello, being a first timer I hope I found a proper subcategory for my post. Does msinfo32.exe have any known problems that still require fixing? I have encountered quite enormous difficulties providing an .nfo file to the 3rd party vst plugin manufacturer who requested it for troubleshooting reasons. Whenever I create a system information file with msinfo23 (using save as) I´m not able to open the newly created file with msinfo32 and the plugin manufacturer´s customer service can´t either. I get a notification "System information cannot open this .nfo file. the file may be corrupt or incompatible with this version of the information system." Today I had two chat and remote sessions with Microsoft customer service. Some registry issues were fixed in my laptop, but the problem with the msinfo32 persisted. The second customer servant concluded that msinfo32 isn´t able to handle big enough files (my .nfo:s being ~3600 kb). Is this a known issue? Out of curiosity I opened the .nfo file in jsonformatter.org/xml-viewer. When I asked the viewer to validate the xml code it showed some errors: It seems that there could be tag name missing for example on the line 176: there are only empty brackets <> and </>. I´m not very familiar with XML, but could this have something to do with msinfo32 seeing the .nfo file incompatible/corrupted?
TheoDaltonDec 18, 2025Iron Contributor24Views0likes6CommentsFlickering issue in Windows 10 File Explorer
Windows 10 flickers on file explorer and Excel. It happens on random and last anywhere between 10-30 seconds. I think is not limited to just these apps, but possibly any programs I opened. This is a fresh install from a bootable usb drive. Any suggestions to further troubleshoot??DoreinezDec 17, 2025Iron Contributor752Views17likes2CommentsYou're Not Up To Date
