Re: new-mailboxexportrequest -contentfilter
Thanks Micheal for the reply, however it does not make any difference just to be aligned: i have done a new test as suggested by exporting the PST as follows: New-MailboxExportRequest -Name exc01-2DEC-received3.0 -Mailbox exc01 -ContentFilter " Sent -gt '12/2/2023'" -FilePath \\localhost\DD\EXC01-2DEC-received3.0.PST and i imported the PST in new mailbox and again i can see the emails in the inbox folder imported. I need to understand how this command works to avoid surprises in the migration...918Views0likes0Commentsnew-mailboxexportrequest -contentfilter
Hello there, I am planning to do a migration for exchange between two forests using export/import PST files. I would lile to export the data up to a certain date then i will do another export for delta after the cutover. i am trying to understand the content filter siwtch and i am getting a weird behavior that i would like to understand. i am trying the below two export commands and this just for testing and i am expecting to get after running the first one all emails sent after 2 DEC 12 AM and i am expecting to get after running the second command all the emails recived after 2 DEC 12 AM however i am getting the same output for both commands including the emails sent and received after 2 DEC which is very ODD, i am pasting the below commands and your help is appreciated: New-MailboxExportRequest -Name exc01-2DEC-sent1.2 -Mailbox exc01 -ContentFilter "{(sent -gt '12/2/2023') }" -FilePath \\localhost\DD\EXC01-2DEC-sent1.2.PST New-MailboxExportRequest -Name exc01-2DEC-received1.1 -Mailbox exc01 -ContentFilter "{(Received -gt '12/2/2023') }" -FilePath \\localhost\DD\EXC01-2DEC-received1.1.PST for both commands i am getting a PST file of the same size and after the import i see emails in inbox and sent folder for the same date. both exchange servers are 2019 with latest CU and latest SU..1.1KViews0likes2CommentsExchange Migration Cross forest
Hello, I planning to do an exchange Migration from forest A to forest B and the email address will be changed. I don't want to set any trust between the two, i will simply create the active directory users from scratch with new passwords and will install and configure the exchange environment in the target forest and will create the mailboxes. i will use a third-party tool to migrate the mailboxes between the two forests and after cutover i will add the alias of the old email as additional proxy address to the mailboxes. i am assuming everything will work fine however i have seen lot of articles on the internet about we have to migrate the legacyexchangeDN from the source environment and to add it as X500 proxy address as well in the destination or we might face issues in the migrated recurrent meetings when someone wants to edit or when someone reply to a migrated email.... I can afford having some meeting corrupted after migration but i cant afford the headache of NDR when someone reply to the migrated emails it will be a disaster.... anyone had this experience before to share it with me especially regarding the reply to the migrated emails and i did not lot of documentation from Microsoft about such scenario? Thank You.859Views0likes1CommentExport-spWEb and import-SPWEB user includeusersecurity
Hello there, I have a sharepoint Farm with subscription edition and i am trying to test the export-spweb and import-spweb by exporting a document library from Site1 and to import to site2. i have assigned some permissions on site1 level and on the file level and i am expecting that these permissions will migrated to site 2, however this is not happening the content is migrated and i can see users migrated when running get-spuser on site 2 but i dont users assigned permissions on the site level neither on the file level... i am running the below commands Export-SPWeb -Identity "http://portal1.XXXX/sites/export/" -ItemUrl "shared documents/HR" -Path C:\export6.cmp -IncludeUserSecurity -Verbose -Force Import-SPWeb -Identity "http://portal1.XXXXl/sites/export2" -Path C:\export6.cmp -IncludeUserSecurity -Force PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-SPUser -Web http://portal1.XXX/sites/export2 |Ft USerlogin UserLogin --------- i:0#.w|XXXX\administrator c:0(.s|true i:0#.w|XXX\-ibrahim i:0#.w|XXX\sfhtest1 i:0#.w|XXX\sfhtest2 SHAREPOINT\system the SFHtest1 is an owner in site 1 but when trying to access the site 2 using the same user i am getting access denied. can someone explain please what i missing and what includeusersecurity is supposed to do? Hello there, I have a requirement to migrate a sharepoint farm 2019 from forest A to forest B . I have a forest trust between the 2 and users are migrated from scratch in forest B with no sid history migration. I am trying to find an official article from microsoft about this scenario but i could not: I followed the below approach in a testing environment and things seem to be fine: Migration following the database attach upgrade following the below article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/upgrade-and-update/overview-of-the-upgrade-process-2019 And move-spuser to migrate the users My question is it the right approach and supported by microsoft? Please share your experience with me... Thanks in advance ....638Views0likes0CommentsRe: Exchnage Cutover Migration to office 365
Hi Philip, yes we don't AAD connect... in case i want to follow Microsoft approach and to not have AADConnect, just to understand how it works, when provisioning the users in the cloud while doing the cutover migration this is an automated task will be completed when starting the migration batch. The question, how the provisioned user is created and what will be the password or i have to go and reset the passwords of all provisioned users?1.4KViews0likes1CommentExchnage Cutover Migration to office 365

Hi, I have more than 10 entities and every entity is having its own forest and we have main forest hosting a sharepoint 2019 portal. We have a requirement to let all users in all forests to be able to authenticate and access the sharepoint portal and we would like to do it without establishing any kind of trust between the main forest and the peers forests. I am planning to do it by ADFS which requires to install an ADFS infra on every peer forest and on sharepoint to extend the web application and to create a new token issuer to every single forest... I did the test for one of the forests and it is working fine how the limitation i am facing is that Sharepoint you can only do 5 extensions, is there any way to create more zones to be able to create an extension corresponding to every entity.... and Please share with me if there is a better approach to do it... -------------------- Best Regards NajwanMS Exchange Modern Authentication and Intune
Hi All, As you know that the intune connector is no longer supported in new deployments we have to go with HMA as an alternative according to Microsoft Documentation. I already have an exchange with full hybrid deployment and we have enabled the HMA however the conditional access policy is not working with on premises mailboxes. Did anyone did a such setup in which we can block all not compliant devices when trying to access their on premise mailbox and to share with me link about the procedure. Your feedback is appreciated. Thanks for your reply. You are right this what we found so far and this will present another challenge since the one drive app cannot work with ADFS authentication and if we want to allow it on the network with NTLM people accessing this application will not have access to their content. Unless we have to go edit the new profile created and grant the personal site secondary owner with windows authentication. But this will take too much work on the back end especially if we have large number of users.3.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Is the activation of SharePoint Server Subscription Edition is the same as 2019
Hi Troy, Can you please confirm if we want to go with sharepoint Subscription edition, do we need Software Assurance if we dont have SA we go with sharepoint 2019? Unfortunately there is no licensing guide about it till now to know the details. Thanks in advance.Sharepoint Sizing
We are planning to design a sharepoint farm 2019 on premise to be configured as one drive on premise and to host 1000 users and to have 10 TB content database at day 1. I am checking the Microsoft best practice when it comes to DB sizing... and I have few points that i would like to clarify: usually if we have an always on group and when configuring the sharepoint i only have the option to select the DB server (Listener in our case) and all the DB will be created under the default location. In the below article MS is recommending: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/administration/storage-and-sql-server-capacity-planning-and-configuration Add another database server when you have more than four web servers that are running at capacity. Add another database server when your current server has reached its effective resource limits of RAM, CPU, disk IO throughput, disk capacity, or network throughput. Question1: what is the added value of adding more DB servers they operate in active standby mode and we can have only one active server at a time since one availability group will be configured. Do we have other option? Regarding content database MS is recommending to : Only create files in the primary filegroup for the database. Distribute the files across separate disks. The number of data files should be less than or equal to the number of core CPUs. Count dual core processors as two CPUs for this purpose. Count each processor that supports hyper-threading as a single CPU. Question2: Is there any official article how to achieve on the content database level? Question3: what if we follow the standard way by having a disk of 15 TB and we create an AG including all SP DBs and we make sure to maintain 1 IOPS per GB, anyone tried something similar in large farms?1KViews0likes0CommentsSharepoint Migration Tool "SPMT" from office365 one drive to sharepoint 2019

Hi I have installed a sharepoint farm consisting of two FE+DC and two APP+Search I set it up according to microsoft documentation. I am using a single registered account across the farm to simplify things. all the services are started and and i did the search crawling. when browse the mysistes a user profile is created and and i can access one drive however the news feed does not show on the left as per the documentation and when i click it from about me i am always getting: We're still collection the latest news. You may see more if you try again a little later. I went through all the related blogs and articles and checked the distributed cache service and assigned permissions to the UPS with no luck. I need some help here and thanks in advance482Views0likes0CommentsVM windows server datacenter activation
We have purchased 3 win server licenses 2016 standard to cover 16 cores, when it comes to the activation we found that one of the virtual machines is running windows server 2016 datacenter and we are not able to activate it. Is there any workaround we can do here because the VM is having the services installed and running and it is difficult to migrate to another VM with standard edition and it does not make sense to purchase again a datacenter license to just activate a single VM while i only need a standard edition. I appreciate your support if anyone encountered a similar issue before.588Views0likes0Comments
