Re: Onedrive to Sync Folders Across 2 pcs
OneDrive only *syncs* from the single OneDrive folder. You can *upload* from other folders direct to OneDrive in cloud using browser interface. This will mean that you have more online than you can have on your local hard drive, which is fine. You can choose to sync these as stubs or to exclude specific OneDrive subfolders from appearing on your local device. Note the contents of your external drives are now distinct unconnected copies of what is in OneDrive.4.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Onedrive to Sync Folders Across 2 pcs
There are endless videos and explained online about how this works When OneDrive is installed it syncs everything in the local folder with what is in the cloud. So if there is nothing in the cloud, it will copy everything up first. When you install on a new PC it starts by copying down "stubs" of the files. The files appear local but won't be brought down in full until you either open the files or specify a file/folder needs to have "offline" copies you can access when there is no internet connection.4.3KViews0likes2CommentsRe: One user multiple computers
It's not the number of computers but login accounts that count as users. A single user can access OneDrive from roughly 15 devices (desktop, tablet, phone). Your use case for shutdown and pickup elsewhere works, but by itself OneDrive is not a backup solution. If you choose to delete a file then it is only recoverable for a few months. It will protect you again day to day mishaps and ransomware attacks but not your own mistakes in deletion. First don't put identifiable information on the internet like that as it will be used against you. Second, I can't read Russian and can't OCR low-res photos of computer screens Try contacting Microsoft directly, such as through the Help and Feedback > Report a Problem links inside your app .1.8KViews0likes1CommentRe: Sync Onedrive to External HDD
There are posts in this forum where problems with this are discussed. Some sync tools will touch the OneDrive files and force extra sync operations between local and (canonical) cloud versions. If you are not keeping local versions of all files in your local OneDrive folder, then copy sync operations may pull down the entire file(a) every time you sync. You will need to be VERY careful with timestamps and the possibility of overwriting versioned files. Sync tools typically only take the latest copy of a file, unless you are also taking snapshots of file changes. (These are not specific OneDrive issues, you'll find them with other popular cloud sync services.)940Views0likes2CommentsRe: I cannot log in to my One Drive account.
Like I said, you haven't provided any details. No messages, error codes, nothing. We can't look over your shoulder. No idea if you're on a PC, Mac or mobile device, using a browser or an app. You have to provide enough information for diagnosis.1.9KViews0likes3CommentsRe: I cannot log in to my One Drive account.
1. If it's your own personal account then it's not OneDrive for Business. 2. You haven't provided any details of what happens when you try to log in. "Can't" is a very very brief category. The Russian angle is possible especially if you have MFA setup and no way to confirm your identity. The network you're on myabe compromised if you're not using a VPN.2KViews0likes5CommentsRe: HELP PLEASE!!!! Accidental deletion of files on OneDrive
OneDrive, Dropbox etc work the same way. Files are synced, so if you delete them in one place they delete everywhere. Backups still need to be made. 1. Check your online Recycle Bin in OneDrive (via the browser) 2. If this is truly OneDrive for Business and not OneDrive (personal) then contact your iT department. 3. Contact Microsoft support (don't delay). These forums are public self help. They are monitored by a Microsoft staff.1.2KViews0likes0Comments
