**EDITED** In the coming months, there will be a change to remove the custom configuration ARM template file URL and ARM template parameter file URL parameters when creating session hosts. In its place, you will only be able to specify a custom configuration PowerShell script URL that is stored in a publicly accessible location. This change will take effect in the create host pool, add session host to host pool, and getting started portal flows, as well as the GitHub CreateHostpoolTemplate and AddVirtualMachinesToHostPool ARM templates. This is a breaking change, so if you have any dependencies on these parameters, please make the appropriate amends. Note that custom configuration PowerShell scripts are only supported for the operating systems listed here. I will be sure to reply to this post when the change has been made.4.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: AVD Scaling Plans MUST Be in the Same Region as Host Pool
Hello KS117, we don't have host pools available in Southeast Australia today. We are only supporting scaling plans in the regions that we have host pool objects available. I don't have an ETA for when it will become available there. Are you able to use Australia East? Where is your host pool located?1.6KViews0likes3CommentsAVD Scaling Plans MUST Be in the Same Region as Host Pool
[Updated 8/15/22] Hello Tech Community, If you are using AVD's Autoscale public preview feature, please note that you cannot assign a scaling plan in one region to a host pool in another region because of an ARM restriction. If you currently have a scaling plan assigned to a host pool in a different region, please unassign the scaling plan and recreate it in the host pool region. We have sent out service health alerts and updated our documentation to call out that this is no longer allowed. AVD is working to support scaling plans in additional regions to ease this process. This post will be used to track progress on rolling out to more regions and track any questions that come up. Currently, scaling plans are available in the following regions: Australia East Canada Central Canada East Central US East US East US 2 Japan East North Central US North Europe South Central US UK South UK West West Central US West Europe West US West US 2 West US 3 Thank you for your patience and support in making Autoscale a great feature!Solved20KViews0likes35CommentsRe: Announcing General Availability of Scheduled Agent Updates on Azure Virtual Desktop
No. The agent still updates itself, it is just a matter of when. With this feature, you have control over when the agent updates itself, the stack, or the Geneva Monitoring agent. So you'd want to schedule the updates to be when there is not peak usage so that if the update causes hang time it is not disruptive. If this feature is not enabled, the agent will update itself, the stack, or the Geneva Monitoring agent whenever an update becomes available and if the update fails, there will be workload disruption.2.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Announcing General Availability of Scheduled Agent Updates on Azure Virtual Desktop
This is already available in Azure Government, it just can't be configured from the portal yet! We have a portal deployment happening this week that will make the option visible in the portal in Azure Government.2.6KViews0likes1CommentAnnouncing General Availability of Scheduled Agent Updates on Azure Virtual Desktop

Hi jessie_peng, is your host pool in Japan west? The Japan regions for host pools are only just now in public preview. Once they are GA, scaling plans will be available there. Until then, please create a host pool in a GA region and assign a scaling plan in the same region to assign to it.1.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) | Scaling plans and Autoscaling
Hi! Yes I will update this post when scaling plans are available in UK South. In the meantime, we have been asked to compile a list of customers that are blocked by not having UK South scaling plan availability to support our request for capacity in that region. If you or anyone else is blocked on this, please send me a private message with the following information: • What is the company/organization that you work for? • Are you currently blocked from using Autoscale due to scaling plans not being available in UK South? • Can you explain the business impact of not being able to use Autoscale in UK South? • How many AVD MAU (monthly active users) and MAV (monthly active VMs) does your company have?5.5KViews0likes1CommentRe: Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) | Scaling plans and Autoscaling
Hi Patrick_Kunz, session hosts marked as ExcludedSessionHosts are those that have the exclusion tag applied to them. Do the session hosts in host pool 1 have any tags on them? Does the scaling plan (P-SCP-EDU-TEST-02) have exclusion tags specified?5.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: AVD Scaling Plans MUST Be in the Same Region as Host Pool
Hello WVDExpert, no the recommendation is only about the scaling plan location and host pool location (it doesn't matter where your hosts or resource group are). Based on what you said, if your host pool is in East US, please make sure that the scaling plan assigned to it is also in East US. The scaling plan assigned to your East US host pool cannot be in any other region.1.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: AVD Scaling Plans MUST Be in the Same Region as Host Pool
The list of subscriptions to send this email to was generated on April 19 and it has just gotten approved to be sent out today. Please disregard the message you received today if you have already unassigned and recreated your scaling plan. I apologize that you received it in error.1.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: AVD Scaling Plans MUST Be in the Same Region as Host Pool
Hi TLCawein, Please know that we don't intend to hammer you with warnings unnecessarily. This notice was sent out to all customers who (in our queries) showed that they had scaling plans in one region and host pools in another. If you think that this was by error, please feel free to private message me your subscription ID, host pool name, and scaling plan name and I will check our records. Thank you so much for your patience with us!16KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) | Scaling plans and Autoscaling
