Re: Will Viva Learning learning paths be able to have .aspx files in them in future?
Well a seeded licence enables a user to follow a link to a SharePoint page if the link is put in a learning path, but this does not work if the link is put in a feature set. Inconsistent behaviour!253Views0likes0CommentsWill Viva Learning learning paths be able to have .aspx files in them in future?
Microsoft's documentation cites the following file types can be exposed in a learning path in Viva Learning when they are hosted on a SharePoint site and SharePoint has been added to Viva Learning as a content source:- • Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF • Audio (.m4a, .mp3) • Video (.mov, .mp4, .avi) Will .aspx files be added to this list in future so that SharePoint pages can exposed in Viva Learning learning paths too? Many people will have written training and informational content directly as SharePoint .asp pages. Not being able to expose these in Viva Learning is a major drawback to using Viva Learning currently. The work-around of having a Word doc or PowerPoint .ppt having links to SharePoint pages only works if users have a Viva Learning or Viva Suite licence. This is no consolation to us as our users don't have these licences.658Views0likes4CommentsTrying to find a source of icons for use within internal documentation for M365 suite
I create internal org-specific documentation on M365 applications. Quite often I need icons. not just of the apps, but of icons used inside the apps, e.g. the icons on the left-hand rail in MS Teams. I have accessed the Branding Kit on the FastTrack Portal but that appears to only contain official icons of the apps and in assorted sizes. These are very useful, but I was hoping there would be a store of icons used all over and within M365. I realise that a collection of such icons could run into tens of thousands, but I work on the basis that if you don't ask you don't get. Can anyone help me?1.3KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Purchasing model for "Academies in Viva Learning" & "Viva Learning web endpoint"
Thank you for such a swift response. I work as a Digital Skills Manager in a UK university and functionality such as Viva Learning, Engage, Connections are wonderful tools to help me in my role as well as empowering staff and students. HOWEVER, making functionality premium i.e. part of the Viva Learning or Viva Suite License only puts it financially out of reach for Higher Education, never mind secondary or Primary education in the UK. What chance is there that Microsoft will re-consider the pricing of Viva functionality (or what is included in M365 seeded licences A1/A3/A5) for Education?620Views0likes1CommentPurchasing model for "Academies in Viva Learning" & "Viva Learning web endpoint"
Will Academies in Viva Learning & Viva Learning web endpoint be part of: an existing 365 seeded licence? the Viva Learning Licence or the Viva Suite Licence (i.e. premium features)? another plan?Solved701Views1like4CommentsCustomising the Request Access page for SharePoint Online
Is it possible to customise the "Access Requests.ASPX" page to give specific information to people wanting to gain access to a page on your site, and give them a better experience? The sort of thing I want to add to this page is as follows: "This staff is for staff in the University, if you are a student who is also working for the University, please access this page when you are logged into Microsoft 365 with your staff account"1.1KViews0likes0CommentsDoes transcription in MS Teams depend on Stream being activated?
Stream has not, and may not ever be, activated for any user in my tenant. Once transcription has been activated in the Teams Admin Center, will it work or does it depend on the technology in Stream to produce a transcription of a meeting recording?820Views0likes1CommentRe: Does the SharePoint 365 Crawler look at how a file has been SHARED?
Andrew Hodges Many thanks for your swift response. The testing we've done this afternoon tends to agree with you. I will however explain what we did because it exposes something odd: Me=Owner and Site Admin of SharePoint 365 (Team) site called "SPDemoSite" Mark = no access whatsoever to SPDemoSite I created a file (with a very unusual file name) in a doc lib on SPDemoSite and of course it did not come up in the results from a search Mark did on the OneDrive Start Page, the SharePoint Start Page or a MS365 Search. I then shared the file with Mark using 'Specific People' and it duly sent an email and link to Mark. Mark didn't use the link and didn't open the file. Mark repeated the 3 searches again for the file: OneDrive Search: it didn't show up, SharePoint Search: it didn't show up, MS365 Search: it DID show up in the results. Then Mark did open the file in the email sent to him as a result of me sharing the file with him, and closed it again. Mark repeated the 3 searches again for the file: OneDrive Search: it DID show up, SharePoint Search: it DID show up, MS365 Search: it DID show up in the results. It's not straight forward is it!?933Views0likes1CommentDoes the SharePoint 365 Crawler look at how a file has been SHARED?
In SharePoint 365 Search, does the Crawler look at how a file has been shared as well as how the access permissions have been set on a file, the folder, the library, the site? Another way to ask the same question is: Do the direct access permissions associated with a file AND how the file has been shared combine to determine when the file shows in the results from SharePoint search?1KViews0likes3CommentsWhat's the point of file SHARING! ?
Have Microsoft made the situation of making files accessible, by direct permissions access and sharing, incredibly do-able but also very complex? When you look at a file in a doc lib on a SharePoint site to see who has access to it, you have the people who can access it because they are a member of the SharePoint Owners/Members/Visitors groups, additionally bespoke permissions could have been set, then on top of that the file may have been shared with other people too. It can be quite complex! So why did Microsoft introduce sharing into 365? And how, as site Owners and SharePoint Admins, can we keep a handle on what is accessible and by whom? How can it all be simplified enough to make the average user in an organisation understand the repercussions of sharing, and also understand what they see when they search on a organisational level SharePoint Search and on a Microsoft 365 Search?503Views0likes0CommentsDo SHARED files show up in SharePoint 365 searches?
Consider this scenario: You have a modern SharePoint 365 site with a limited number of people with your organisation having direct access permissions to it. Bob does not have direct access to the site. You share a file in a document library to Bob, by sharing the file with Bob as a specific named person. When Bob uses the modern SharePoint 365 search (one which searches all the sites in an organisation), does the above file you have shared with Bob show up in his results?1.1KViews0likes1CommentIs anyone successfully using the Enterprise websites connector for Microsoft Search?
My organisation uses MS 365 Online. It also has a significant number of internal facing WordPress sites? My question is simple: I've read that "With the Enterprise websites connector, your organization can index articles and content from its internal-facing websites. After you configure the connector and sync content from the website, end users can search for that content from any Microsoft Search client." Does this mean we could extend our MS Search and get it to index our WordPress sites too, so that with one search box input a member of staff would be able to search all MS 365 and all the WordPress sites in one search action? Has anyone implemented the Enterprise websites connector successfully to achieve anything like this?1.2KViews0likes2CommentsHow can a Teams meeting recording (not uploaded into Stream) be deleted before the 21 days expiry?
A Teams channel meeting recording is sitting in the conversations tab of the channel and needs to be deleted. Stream is not activated, so the recording is sat in the Azure Media Service for the next 21 days until it is automatically deleted. Is there a way to get the recording deleted manually?
