Re: Version 1.2.3770 of the Windows Desktop client for AVD has been released to all users!
I'm seeing it work intermittently when using 1.2.3916. When it connects using websocket, I will disconnect and sometimes it will connect with UDP on the next try and other times I will try multiple times and get websocket each time. It usually then works if I wait a little while and try again. Hopefully, further improvements can be made so that it works every time.7.3KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Version 1.2.3770 of the Windows Desktop client for AVD has been released to all users!
Thank you Rinku_Dalwani and I just want to confirm that I'm still seeing this issue on the new insider build 1.2.3916 that was released today. Update: I take that back. It may actually be fixed with this insider version. Need further testing but so far so good.7.5KViews1like6CommentsRe: Version 1.2.3770 of the Windows Desktop client for AVD has been released to all users!
Travis_78 and Rinku_Dalwani - I am seeing the same issue with RDP Shortpath not working in this version. I have rolled users back to the previous version and it is working as expected again. Can either of you confirm that this issue has been acknowledged by Microsoft and that a fix is coming? Hopefully, in the next release. Thanks!8.2KViews1like9CommentsRe: RDP Shortpath for public networks in Azure Virtual Desktop
Rinku_Dalwani could you please expand on this feature or provide a link to documentation that further expands upon this? It appears that I have both public and managed enabled in our environment but when I look at the WVDCheckpoints logs, the connection always seems to use the public shortpath over the managed one. ShortpathRequested {"ShortpathPublicEnabled":"True","ShortpathPrivateEnabled":"True","udpPort":"3,390"} ShortpathEstablished {"udpType":"ShortpathPublic"} This happens despite being connected over VPN and with the appropriate ports being opened. Is there a way to specify precedence when both options are available and if not, how is it decided which one to use? Also, this is currently being tested in our validation host pool. How will we know when it is available in our production host pools?5KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Insider Preview: Single sign-on and passwordless authentication for Azure Virtual Desktop
I am excited about this feature but the consent prompt for each new server is certainly not ideal. Hopefully, this is something that is being addressed when it reaches Public Preview! It wouldn't be so bad if it was simply a matter of telling users to click "Yes" when it comes up but we are seeing that users also have to authenticate using their password or some other sign-in method. Is there a reason why Seamless SSO does not work for this? In the Azure AD sign-in logs we see a sign-in failure saying "The user or administrator has not consented connecting to the target-device: '{identifier}'. Send an interactive authorization request for this user and target-machine." and the user is prompted with a message saying "Because you're accessing sensitive info, you need to verify your password." I have not found any way of getting Seamless SSO to work with this and I am wondering if others are seeing the same issue or there is something I am missing.17KViews0likes11CommentsRe: Exchange Front Door location
MXSIVE and prath00 I am seeing the same issue. All data is set to the US but the difference for me is that only our Exchange front door is going through Australia. SharePoint is going through a server that is in the US and while it didn't choose the closest front door, it's at least in the same state. Any help would be much appreciated!11KViews0likes0CommentsRe: WVD logon issues. The Group Policy Client Service failed the sign-in. Access is denied.
Kyorii and Guido We too are seeing an increased number of occurrences of this issue. The best solution for us at the moment is to enable drain mode on the session host that the user is failing to sign into so that they are signed into a different one and then disable drain mode after they've successfully signed in. We are also rebooting all of the session hosts every night. This is obviously not ideal and an earlier fix for this would be much appreciated.68KViews0likes1CommentRe: MSIX app attach Azure portal integration public preview
Hi Stefan, Thanks for your hard work on this! It seems that I've got this almost working but I am stuck on one issue. For some reason, the apps that are staged and registered do not show up in the start menu on the session host. I can launch the apps successfully using PowerShell with "start shell:appsFolder\<packagefamilyname>!<appid>" but that is obviously not a good solution for end-users. This happens whether I am doing the staging/registration in the portal or using the stage/register PowerShell scripts. When I use the PowerShell scripts to on my windows 10 desktop client, the apps show up in the start menu as expected so I don't think it's an issue with the app packages. Do you know what might be causing the shortcuts to not appear on the validation pool session hosts? Thanks!2.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Consistent Thin Client Disconnection from WVD Pool
troyjones thank you for sharing! Unfortunately, this did not seem to make any improvement for us. In fact, one of our MacOS users started getting reconnects every minute or so after implementing this. Once the registry keys were deleted, it immediately fixed that issue. UDP shortpath has been a lifesaver for us in terms of fixing the disconnects primarily. It hasn't completely resolved things but it's significantly more stable now.8.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Consistent Thin Client Disconnection from WVD Pool
stefanpeters2020 thanks again for your feedback. I tried getting around using a NAT by assigning the static PIP directly to the NIC of one of the WVD session hosts. Unfortunately, I'm still seeing no improvement in the disconnects. At this point, I'm convinced the issue is not with Microsoft but with our the stability of our user's Internet connections. Though I do think that the WVD service does a really poor job dealing with a connection that is not 100% stable. For example, when I was testing last night after making the change to no longer using the NAT, I was connected to the WVD host and then tried downloading a large file on my local network. In the 10 minutes that the file was downloading, I was disconnected from the WVD host over 40 times and the service was unusable. This also lines up with what we are seeing with it seeming to be happening to random users from day to day while other users have no issues at all. All of our users are working from home and so they all have different network setups that are not controlled by the business. We are not using a proxy server so I do not know what the "PROXY_ERR_INVALIDCA" error means and I am unable to find anything about it from Microsoft. I will likely put in a ticket with Microsoft about the issue but I'm not sure anything will come of it. Thanks again for all of your help.9.5KViews1like3CommentsRe: Consistent Thin Client Disconnection from WVD Pool
stefanpeters2020 thanks again for your suggestion. I followed your guide to create the Ubuntu NAT server last night and already put it to use for today. So far, I am not seeing much (if any) improvement in the disconnects for users. I'm mostly seeing either of the two following errors in the log analytics logs for the Client which leads to the following RDGateway error. Client Errors: PROXY_ERR_INVALIDCA CM_ERR_MISSED_HEARTBEAT RDGateway Error: ConnectionFailedClientDisconnect I'm not sure what else to try at this point.9.5KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Consistent Thin Client Disconnection from WVD Pool
Marco Brouwer We recently switched over from using the NAT Gateway to a Standard Load Balancer and we saw no improvement in the disconnects. As much as I would love to, we too require a static outbound IP and are unable to do any testing without it. This is an incredibly frustrating issue and our users are not very happy when they get disconnected multiple times a day. It would be great to hear something here from Microsoft about this issue.9.6KViews1like0CommentsRe: Consistent Thin Client Disconnection from WVD Pool
stefanpeters2020 I'm glad to hear that you figured out the issue, thanks for sharing! We've been seeing the same thing and it also started once we added the NAT Gateway to our WVD servers. I would really appreciate it if you could post an update when you hear more info from Microsoft, especially if they eventually provide an ETA for the fix.9.5KViews0likes13CommentsRe: (Azure) Virtual Desktop Optimization Tool now available
Robert_Smith thanks for the information here about the Appx packages but I don't think you answer the question about how we can clean up these leftover artifacts in the case where we DO want to remove these apps but local user profiles already exist on the session host. Is there no way to do this?134KViews0likes0Comments
