Re: Printers being mapped are set to 'letter'
spuddeh That is how we solved it as well, we know the language of the users, so we configured intune (endpoint) to run a powershell command per language Unfortunately pc 'has' to restart, and recently a shutdown became a hibernate.. no big deal, a bit of patience.. We have successfully moved all cloud printing to UP by now, little to no issues.7.9KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Printers being mapped are set to 'letter'
Philip_Demaree Hi Phil, Just performed the test you asked for, deleted the pdf printer, I deleted the foxit one too.. system locale is English US, Gui says Belgium. Printer maps as letter. I'm closing in on the creation of a ticket.. KR, Kurt28KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Printers being mapped are set to 'letter'
Philip_Demaree That is correct, some printers have no issue whatsoever which format is set as default (ea Lexmark) but others, like Canon (90% of our MFP's) will get an error and will not print. I can ask our Canon technicians to accept the jobs and simply print them but that is not a long term solution, and has to be configured on all of them. I would expect the printer being mapped as A4 when in GUI I selected Belgium as my region tbh. About the ticket, as per tradition every time we encounter I have issues opening a ticket as we've changed partner for creating tickets after the last issues (It's coming I promise)28KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Printers being mapped are set to 'letter'
Hi Phil, Unfortunately the setting in your screenshot has little effect on the default setting of the printers. I have performed a few tests and have documented them in the attachment here. I'll open a ticket with MS support so we can investigate further. Kind Regards, Kurt28KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Printers being mapped are set to 'letter'
Hi Saurabh, First test indicated that printers are mapped correctly as A4 when the country code is 32 and locale is 813. But it has to be changed in system locale.. not sure of the impact of that tbh. Meanwhile I have found one user that is set to 1/409 and it maps as A4 (confused) KR, Kurt29KViews0likes10CommentsRe: Printers being mapped are set to 'letter'
Hi all, Just a small update here: Today I was writing a query in sccm to get all BE devices, and I was not getting the expected number of devices. Turns out this value is set to 1 instead of the expected 32: I was totally expecting 32 here, is this the value that UP is using to determine the country? This would explain why it is not going as expected.. Edit: you can get the value like this: gwmi win32_operatingsystem | select countrycode KR, Kurt29KViews0likes13CommentsRe: Develop Ineo+ 258 - Size/Media Error when using Universal Print
GCSJordan Yeah it's annoying, I hope this gets fixed before UP leaves preview.. We're already using it as if it was in production.. I've been trying to open a ticket with MS for this but with our new partner it has become difficult to open a ticket..6.7KViews0likes7CommentsRe: Develop Ineo+ 258 - Size/Media Error when using Universal Print
GCSJordan What media size is present in the printer? A4 or letter? I have similar issues with Canon printers, they have A4 & A3 paper. On the server with print connector the media sizes are detected by the printer driver, so they are set correctly to A4/A3. When registering the printer the media size in UP is set to letter, I have to change it to A4. Then when printer is mapped, on the client it is still set to letter, I have to change it to A4/A3 per drawer. Then I can print correctly.. I do not have this issue with HP universal driver or Lexmark universal driver. Even though they still are set to letter on both UP and the client, A4 prints correctly on the printer..6.9KViews0likes9CommentsRe: UPrint get ShareId in printer properties from Powershell
NerradPB I can get the shareID like this: Get-UPPrinter | select -ExpandProperty share | select sharename, shareid Then I can share like this: Grant-UPAccess -GroupId xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-ShareID xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxx2.9KViews1like1CommentPrinters being mapped are set to 'letter'
Hi all, Is there a way to force a client's printers to be mapped with default A4 paper type? Most printers this is not an issue, but some it is it seems. Printers complain when receiving a job in letter, and the job fails. When opening the printer properties on the client > general > preferences > Layout > Advanced > 'Paper output' is default letter with newly mapped printers. (same for advanced > printing defaults) When I change these to A4 these jobs continue without issues (solves 90% of failed print jobs for me) I set the printing defaults in universal print blade correctly to A4 but printers get mapped with letter anyway. Would be nice if I could force it on the client, we never use letter. Kind Regards, Kurt38KViews0likes23CommentsRe: Strange issue with Lexmark Universal printers
Braeden_Petruk_MSFT Yeah I restarted the service when changing driver. Even completely removed the printer on the server and in UP blade and recreated. Concerning support, the link https://aka.ms/upsupport-azureportal just redirects to Azure Support for me, and there is no Universal Print in the list of services to choose from.. KR3.6KViews0likes1CommentStrange issue with Lexmark Universal printers
I'm testing out UP and for some strange reason, I am the only person that can print on any Lexmark Universal printer. Everybody else is getting stopped, canceled and pending status. Even colleagues with printer admin rights like me are getting this error. My jobs just work. In the client print queue all I see is 'sent to printer' for a pending job, or 'error - sent to printer' for a stopped one. Is there any logging on the client that could be a little more informative? They can print on Canon Generic PCL6 or HP Universal just fine. I tried changing driver from 'Lexmark Universal v2' to'Lexmark Universal v2 XL' Makes no difference.3.7KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Universal Print compatibility with existing Hybrid Cloud Print deployment
Thanks for the info on this, I can confirm that after deleting the registry key, my Universal Print printers became visible. However I would like to add: Even with the key deleted, when I added a printer in Universal Print with the same name as an existing one in Hybrid Cloud Print, the Universal print printers were not visible anymore on my laptop.. I could only see the Hybrid Cloud ones again I unregistered the printer, renamed it on my print server, registered again and Universal Print printers could be added again. EDIT: seems the key was written again by intune policies my bad3.6KViews2likes0Comments
