Re: Teams posts sort order
Is it possible you are seeing the new channels experience? M365 Roadmap - New Channels Experience: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?rtc=2&filters=&searchterms=91683 New Teams: https://adoption.microsoft.com/en-us/new-microsoft-teams/16KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Audio Conferencing Now Free?
Here is the original announcement about price increases starting on March 1, 2022 and the fact that audio-conferencing will be included in several licenses going forward: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2021/08/19/new-pricing-for-microsoft-365/ Here is another announcement in their partner community website, which has some more details about which licenses will get the included audio-conferencing: https://www.microsoftpartnercommunity.com/t5/Announcement-Discussions/Microsoft-365-Pricing-and-Audio-Conferencing-Licensing-Updates/td-p/60233 It doesn't look like Education licenses are included.32KViews1like1CommentRe: Customize Site Webpart
I would recommend looking into a custom web part and using Microsoft Graph functions. They are basically putting everything about users and the various data tied to each user into Microsoft Graph. This one here might be useful: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/api/resources/teams-api-overview?view=graph-rest-1.01.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: Why it shows my email address under FROM email even someone else has submitted this below request
Have you tried expanding the Advanced settings within the Send Email action in Power Automate? There should be an option there to specify a different From address. You can use any shared mailbox, user account, or distribution group email address here, but your account that is setup as the Power Automate email "Connection" will need to have "Send As" delegation permissions for that From email account. Your IT email admins would have to setup those permissions.Re: Can i manage Sharepoint Online Permissions with AD?
I would again suggest understanding the Share functionality in SharePoint before getting too far into trying to control access and permissions via groups. However, if your situation calls for using AD Security Groups and SharePoint Security Groups, I don't see a problem in using them. I have created SharePoint Security Groups for a specific List or Library if I needed to give people a different level of permissions to that particular list or library. For example, if our HR department has Read access to most of a SharePoint site, they will be in the SharePoint Visitors group to give them that access. But then if I need the HR department to have Edit access to a specific HR Document Library, I would probably create a SharePoint Security Group specifically for assigning Edit permissions on that HR Document library and then add the HR department to that group. SharePoint Online has made it a little more difficult to get to the Groups page in site settings to create a new SharePoint Security Group, but you can still get there when needed.12KViews1like0CommentsRe: Can i manage Sharepoint Online Permissions with AD?
The Sharing functionality in SharePoint/OneDrive/Teams uses SharePoint Security Groups to give people access to items that have been shared. It creates a new SharePoint Security Group every time a new Sharing link is created for an item. You might want to consider that before you spend too much time worrying about SharePoint permissions in the first place. However, if you are going to try using AD security groups to manage access and permissions to SharePoint sites, one good approach is to use a combination of SharePoint Security Groups plus AD Security Groups inside of those SharePoint Security Groups. For example, every SharePoint site comes with three SharePoint Security Groups - Owners (Full Control), Members (Edit), and Visitors (Read). You should put your AD Security groups inside one of these default SharePoint Security Groups.13KViews1like2CommentsWhat is the best way to use SQL on-premise data within SharePoint Online?
We would like to create a solution in SharePoint Online that can perform CRUD operations on data in an on-premise SQL database. What is the best way to accomplish this? What are the different options? Is it possible to do this from a SharePoint Framework web part?1.1KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Random messages in Teams chat
I think you are on to something when you talk about focus switching from another application to Teams, when Teams is opening. I have noticed that Teams takes a long time to auto-start if you have that feature enabled. It seems plausible that someone could be in the middle of typing into any other application when Teams finally starts up and then it inadvertently takes focus without a person noticing it. I would test disabling the auto-start feature of Teams to see if that helps with the issue.11KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Random messages in Teams chat
We are seeing this in our company as well. We see random posts to a meeting chat from back in December 2020. The obvious answer is that users are accidentally typing into this conversation without realizing it. However, as we talk to them, they really don't know how it happened and it seems more and more likely that there is something wrong with Teams itself that is causing this to happen. I would love to know how and why this is happening, but I doubt we will ever really know. At least organizers now have the option to disable chat once a meeting has concluded, which should reduce this weirdness going forward.11KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Microsoft List Calendar View Filter
LISTSNEED124 It doesn't appear to be an option yet. All I see is an option to filter on the "Title" field, or whichever field you selected to be your calendar view's title display field. I hope it is on the roadmap and planned to be released soon. This is something that should have been available at launch in my opinion. Filtering by the Title only is basically useless.24KViews0likes1CommentHow is the new Employee Onboarding list template supposed to be used?
Can anyone tell me how the Employee Onboarding list template makes any sense and can actually be used? With the way they have it setup, I don't see how it would be reusable to onboard multiple different employees. The way they have designed it, it is like you would have to create a whole new list with its predefined rows of onboarding items for each employee. It seems backwards from how lists are typically used and designed. Each instance of an employee being onboarded should be one row item in a single list, it should not require an entire new list for each employee onboarding instance.2.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: SharePoint Designer Connection issue with SharePoint Online
Sajith G H I still think it has something to do with stored credentials. I would try going into the Credential Manager in Control Panel and removing anything Office 2013 related, then trying to open and login to SharePoint Designer again.4KViews1like1CommentRe: SharePoint Designer Connection issue with SharePoint Online
Sajith G HDid you try first logging in to Office 365 through Internet Explorer and having it remember your credentials, then try opening SharePoint Designer? When consulting, I often had to use SharePoint Designer with different admin accounts for various Office 365/SharePoint Online tenants. Windows and Internet Explorer will store/cache your SharePoint Designer credentials. I often would get prompted over and over for login information if the stored credential didn't match the tenant site that I was trying to connect to. The easiest workaround I found was this: 1. Close SharePoint Designer 2. Open Internet Explorer 3. Go to your SharePoint Site in Internet Explorer being sure to login with the correct account and selecting the option for Office 365/SharePoint to remember your login. 4. Open SharePoint Designer and go to the relevant SharePoint site.4.1KViews0likes3CommentsRe: External client uses skype - replies comes to OWA Skype instead of MS Teams.
Pawel JaroszDo you know which coexistence mode your account is in? (Islands, Teams Only, etc.) I don't know for sure if being in Teams Only mode would help, but it might be worth looking at. Here is a reference for the different modes your account could be in: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-and-skypeforbusiness-coexistence-and-interoperability1.7KViews1like1CommentRe: SharePoint Designer Connection issue with SharePoint Online
Sajith G HSharePoint Designer likes to use cached credentials from Internet Explorer as opposed to the Office account you might be currently logged in as in your Office products. Are you sure you are connecting through SharePoint Designer with the proper account for each tenant?4.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Conference Room Suggested Setup for Privacy Concerns
The Microsoft Teams Room sounds like a good way to go, but I'm failing to see devices or options for connecting it to an existing conference room system like we have. So far, all I can find are entire new system bundles like the ones in the link you provided. How does connecting a laptop to a TV via HDMI also connect it to the Logitech CC3000E which currently is connected to a dedicated desktop PC via USB? I am hoping to get some specific device or room configuration suggestions from others who may have already been through this with their equipment.3KViews0likes1CommentConference Room Suggested Setup for Privacy Concerns
What are the best practices for setting up a conference room in order to provide some privacy for presenters who are connecting to conference room equipment, but don't want to display their Outlook email or calendar to everyone in the room while they are starting a meeting? Are Microsoft Teams Rooms a good way to handle this? Our current conference room setup is: Desktop computer connected to large TV Wireless keyboard and mouse for signing in to this desktop with individual's domain account Logitech CC3000E camera and microphone connected to desktop via USB We have HR and other individuals that want to organize and be presenters of Teams meetings, but don't want their Outlook email or calendar displayed on the TV screen while starting the meeting. What other conference room configurations might you suggest?3.1KViews0likes4CommentsRe: How can I add a Profile Pic for an accont that doesn't have one?
Kelemvor333There is a section of this article that describes going to the Exchange Admin Center to upload images for other users. This is how I prefer to do so with new hires. It really should work from the Office 365 Admin portal as well, but you never know with Microsoft. https://support.office.com/en-us/article/add-your-profile-photo-to-office-365-2eaf93fd-b3f1-43b9-9cdc-bdcd548435b7 Yes, this profile photo will span across all Office 365 applications. Also, I have never tried adding photos to conference room accounts, so it is possible that there might be something about those types of accounts that prevents it from working. These photos used to be stored in a SharePoint site collection for all users, so it's possible that only user accounts can have photos.11KViews0likes1CommentRe: Send a Mail When a Field in a SharePoint List has a value of Yes
Dave PalmerIf you go into the List Settings, you can go down to Views, select the view to modify, then select which columns are shown in that view. Additionally, if you want to keep columns from showing in New/Edit Forms, then you need to: Go to List Settings Go to Advanced Settings Set "Allow management of content types?" to Yes. Click OK. On the List Settings page you should now see a "Content Types" section. Click the "Item" content type. Click one of the columns you want to hide from forms. Change the column setting to "Hidden (will not appear in forms)". Click OK. Do this for all columns that you want hidden from forms. Once done, go back to Advanced Settings and set the "Allow management of content types?" back to No. If you leave content type management on, then your forms will always show a "Content Type" dropdown at the top of the form.
