Re: Microsoft sure knows how to make life easy with a brand spanking new Surface Pro i7
I can confirm (having ran into this language pack nonsense myself) that this is the easiest solution. Download the Office Removal Tool linked in this answer, it'll run through once and remove all instances of Office. Handy tool for cleaning up Office bloat on new laptops/workstations. Anecdotally I found it removed all the language packs quicker than Windows took remove a single language pack.1.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Getting Error 0x0000142 every time I start any program
AngryHulk I've only ever seen that error code relate to Office 2016, not Office 365. Without more information, you could try an Online Repair, a Full Repair, or Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SARA). If all else fails, remove, reboot and reinstall Office from your Office365 portal. https://outlookdiagnostics.azureedge.net/sarasetup/SetupProd.exe718Views0likes0CommentsRe: Office 365 email sync/update issues
McDeth That's a new one on me, but the old support rule of divide and conquer should serve here as well as it usually does. Things I would try; * Rule in/out server-side issues = Have the user makes some changes on their phone and see if those are married up to their Office365 mailbox. * Rule in/out Outlook/Office = Configure the users mailbox using the in-built Mail app in Windows 10. Check and see if the issue is reproducible. If, like me, you hate the in-built mail app, try Thunderbird instead. * Rule in/out the mailbox = If the user is has access to a shared mailbox, make changes to that, and see if those are married up to Office365. *Rule in/out the workstation itself = Recreate the users Outlook profile within another user profile on the same and/or a different workstation to see if it's reproducible. Gut instinct is it's an upload issue, but those would typically manifest far more dramatically than what you're seeing. Also try Ctrl+Rightclick'ing the Outlook icon in the notification area. The "Connection Status" is usually typically fairly useless but it may shed some light in this situation. Lastly, check there are no updates pending for Office itself.2.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Admin SSPR Question
StuartK73 I don't believe that's possible. While the admin page you reference does mention, as you say, the option to pick 2 of the 3 (I.e. Email address, authenticator app, phone number) I've never actually received the option as an admin user to use an authenticator app for SSPR. It's always been mobile phone number and email. I did a quick test there on my test tenant and that looks to still be the case. The SSPR policy for administrators can't be modified (the one for users can), so I'm afraid if appears you're stuck with the email address requirement.932Views0likes0CommentsRe: Outlook: Permanent prompts to re-enter passwords
temuco Some additional information is needed I'm afraid; -This profile you're having trouble with, is it correct to say that you have multiple user mailboxes associated with it, including one that's an MFA-enabled administrator? -Have you tried creating this Outlook profile on a different Windows 10 user profile? With what results? -Have you tried creating an Outlook profile for a different user (non-Global Admin)? With what results? Two things occur to me; 1) The same account(s) work on other machines, meaning it's not an issue with the AutoDiscover record. That rules out a lot of transient problems. 2) MFA + Not receiving the MFA prompt on profile creation + Permanent prompts to re-enter passwords = Updates. Ensure that Windows10 and Office365 (I.e. the Office suite installed on the computer) are fully up to date. It may even be worthwhile trying an app password (instead of the user password) when configuring the Global Admin's Outlook profile. If it works, it's an MFA issue. The simplest solution, however, is to use Microsoft SARA https://outlookdiagnostics.azureedge.net/sarasetup/SetupProd.exe If there are any updates required, it will download them for you. If it fails to create the profile for you, it'll help significantly in narrowing down the issue. Just be sure to select the option for "This is the computer I'm having the issue on". If you don't, SARA will close. Odd design. Good luck.6.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: I need QR Code for Setup authenticator App after Reset of mobile phone
Bernd_G You will need to sign in as a separate global administrator user in order to disable MFA on your existing account. If you only have one global administrator account, you'll need to sign in as a regular user and log a support request with Microsoft to have them help you elevate that user to a global admin role. This process is typically (and surprisingly) fairly painless - You may be required to prove you own the tenant by, say, adding a TXT record to your Office365 custom domain, but it shouldn't take more than one phone call/20 minutes. You can then use this newly elevated user to disable MFA on your existing account. Once you've disabled MFA, you can go here; https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/Proofup.aspx And configure the authenticator app on your phone. You can then enable MFA again on your primary admin account.15KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Students disabled but faculty enabled. Licence student for faculty grants access or not?
DazzaR I don't have an EDU tenant to play with, but from memory you can manage Teams either as a semi-global setting for Students-vs-Faculty, or alternatively through application licenses. If you go to Office365 Admin Portal > Users > [User] > Licenses & Apps > Expand Apps > Microsoft Teams- Does she have Teams enabled there? Also, see this from some time ago = https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/unable-to-access-teams-after-changing-license-from-student-to/m-p/61654 TL:DR is apparently that you have to wait longer between switching the licenses. I'm assuming that you've already removed her "student" license and granted a "staff" license?1.3KViews0likes2Comments
