Re: Have tried multiple ways can't get Georgia counties to map in Georgia (USA).
Riny_van_Eekelenyes, the last three worked when I added: ", Georgia, United States" - strangely it broke everything when I added that to all the counties - but I got what I need now and really appreciate the help!1.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Have tried multiple ways can't get Georgia counties to map in Georgia (USA).
Riny_van_EekelenYou were able to do that without the Geography data type - I didn't try that 🙂 Thank you for the fast response. Still a few counties missing but I can play with it to get it to work for me. Really appreciated!1.9KViews0likes2CommentsHave tried multiple ways can't get Georgia counties to map in Georgia (USA).
Have tried multiple ways can't get Georgia counties to map in Georgia (USA). At least finally got it to map in the United States and not all over the world! When I look at the cards of the ones mapping elsewhere, they say the right location so really confused.Solved2KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Links to Excel documents on SharePoint are downloading instead of opening in app or browser
80Mark80Thanks for checking. We just had Office 365 update and direct links in e-mails do look to be opening in the app now (YAY!) but tried the link in Teams again and it still downloads. PowerPoint file link in Teams downloaded also. Looks like Microsoft is "fixing" issues like this slowly, but surely. We do not use the Edge browser, really and it looks like we have an older version (Microsoft Edge 42.17134.1098.0) but that is controlled by our IT department. Why would that have an impact?20KViews0likes2CommentsLinks to Excel documents on SharePoint are downloading instead of opening in app or browser
I was posting about this on a different thread but was asked to start a new feed (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/office-365/links-to-sharepoint-document-in-excel-opens-in-browser/td-p/183028#.XtUCofR6gAE.link) If I provide a link to an Excel file stored on SharePoint via e-mail, Teams, Skype, etc., the file downloads and does not open in the native app (like it used to). I am using the direct link, not the SharePoint provided link. I know I can add ?web=1 to the link to force it to open in the browser and that is what I am doing (when I remember) for now. The whole point in putting an Excel file on SharePoint is to allow us to collaborate on the same file and not have to collate information from different people who have downloaded and edited the file and sent it to me (!) (Note: the fact that I am getting files sent to me like this is evidence this is happening to others, as well, and not isolated to my computer or my settings.) I have not checked this with Word or PowerPoint. I do not understand why this behavior is happening. It cannot be browser dependent as it is downloading. It may be SharePoint library settings but I can only find settings to force it to open in app or browser NOT download? Any help to prevent downloading as default is appreciated.20KViews0likes7CommentsRe: Links to Sharepoint Document in Excel Opens in Browser
80Mark80Thanks! I think this is more than just a browser issue, however as the latest issue was in the Teams app with a link to an Excel spreadsheet on SharePoint. I rarely use the link that SharePoint gives me and try to always use the direct link because then people know how to go look for the document or similar documents if the link is ever broken. I really do not understand the SharePoint provided link benefit anyway. I do not have privileges but I can certainly push for someone to help me look into this. Would the site collection settings prevent from wanting to download? Seems like it would only dictate to open in native/client app or browser. This is a new behavior that links are downloading instead of trying to open somewhere. 😞142KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Open in client application when sharing link
Just posted on this same issue athttps://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/office-365/links-to-sharepoint-document-in-excel-opens-in-browser/m-p/183028"I just shared an excel document stored on SharePoint link in Teams chat and it downloads the file. I added the "?Web=1" after having to go into edit mode and create a link and that works to open in the browser. WHY DOES THE LINK DOWNLOAD AND NOT OPEN IN THE NATIVE APP? This is really getting frustrating. I tried the "ms-excel:ofe|u|" prefix and the link creator said it was not a valid link and would not let me even try it. Any help appreciated. I agree with another poster that having to add extensions and prefixes cannot be sustainable, either. Behavior of the link should not be based on settings in individual systems either for collaboration."113KViews2likes11CommentsRe: Links to Sharepoint Document in Excel Opens in Browser

Alireza RahimifaridI said it was SharePoint Online and the application that was an example was an Excel spreadsheet. I do not understand your recommendation for "syncing the document library to the computer and open it directly from your computer instead SharePoint site" This is not what collaboration in a team environment means? If so, all users would have to do this (not likely) and I am not sure that all the changes would be kept/caught that way?2.3KViews0likes0CommentsLinks to files on SharePoint are now downloading, not opening in native app?!
Links to files on SharePoint are now downloading, not opening in native app?! Which means when I planned to collaborate data from different people in ONE file, I got back a bunch of separate files I then had to re-consolidate. So now I have to add "?Web=1: to the end of the URL, people have to click that and then click "Open in Desktop App" in order to have full functionality. Way to break collaboration. If you come back and tell me that everyone can configure that individually, that defeats the whole collaboration purpose because some will set to download and some will edit the shared document. A document link should not download when clicked unless it has a qualifier like "?download=1" or something 😞 This is on SPO.2.4KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Links to Sharepoint Document in Excel Opens in Browser
Sharing links for files on SharePoint, not having ?Web=1 downloads the file and does not open in the app, having ?Web=1 opens in browser, not app - solution? Should not be reliant on end user browser settings. Totally breaks the sharing capability! So annoying!146KViews0likes8Comments
