Re: 🚀 Exciting News: Microsoft Mesh is Now in Public Preview!
Hello there, tried again and still getting the same error. Can logon successfully, have M365 E3 and appropriate licenses provisioned. Is there anyone on Microsoft Mesh team that is posting or engaged anywhere with community, like developers on X/reddit/discord or other communities? There are pockets in MS that are really good at community engagement, and then others where you see a blog post and no activity for 8 months and wonder who's driving this? Anyone know, or can speak to this?1.7KViews1like0CommentsRe: 🚀 Exciting News: Microsoft Mesh is Now in Public Preview!
Milena_Paumen very exciting times! I just deployed my first Quest VR app on my Quest2 headset using Unity the other day, first time. I'm hoping this is a perfect and easy transition into Mesh, as I am a Teams administrator and super user over the years and curious how the VR/XR and hybrid meeting experiences will work. Thanks!2.3KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Teams Group Email Address issues
TRHWPG have you look at the subscription piece? Beyond being a member, there's an option to be subscribed to an M365 Group Mailbox (for email delivery to the Team's email address (not channel address)). I don't recall what the default is in any org, but our standard config in our org is that the all new members are automatically also made subscribers. This is a feature unique to M365 Groups in that you can be a member and 'unsubscribe' meaning that your personal inbox won't be flooded with individual emails addressed to the group, however you are still a full member in effect with M365 group privileges such as sending on behalf of the group mailbox, or going to the Group mailbox in Outlook (again, unsubscribing just stops the message going to your personal inbox, and it's a user self-service setting that is toggled by the end user themselves). ..... unless youre configuration doesn't automatically add new users as subscribers and then there's some rectification to do. I know there's a way to do it in powershell but I did it a while ago and 🤦🏻:male_sign: have not been able to find my code so I am gonna have to reproduce it at some point. But it's doable that way, or by sending a job aid/PDF explaining the process to people and emailing it to them, hoping they'll follow the instructions and bother to check.9.8KViews0likes2CommentsGAL sharing between tenants (Exchange Online / Outlook)
Is there a way to share directory info (Global Address List / GAL) between two willing M365 organizations? I feel like it should be as simple as this screen (attached screenshot, Exchange Online Admin Portal menu 'Organization' > 'Sharing', but this is just for calendar info. Where/how would I approach this, other than writing my own customer powershell solution (I've thought about it) or buying some 3rd party or installing MIM or something complicated or expensive like that? I was hoping for something as genuinely simple as this Organization > Sharing menu... just with contact, instead of Calendar only-information (which is only useful if you know the address or information of the user or group you're trying to email or schedule a message with. :)). I've been googling but not getting very good results. I'm kind of shocked this isn't a feature or common scenario that partner organizations would desire when both on a collaboration platform like Exchange/Teams? We've all had that scenario where we're like "Who's that new sales rep at orgY?" so we can include them in an email... the GAL is invaluable, it seems. I've been working in non-profit for 25 years and we've had this sort of setup since the first days of Exchange 5.5 and Galsync ~2000. I don't understand why this is a more commonly demanded or available feature, or why I can't find any documentation on this or voice of other customers that would seem to want it (a few posts here and there). Any thoughts or experts? Is there an easy way to do this between two tenants that aren't part of the same billing same AAD etc., just orgX.onmicrosoft.com wants to share contacts with orgY.onmicrosoft.com. Man, my specificity here tonight makes me realize I've been peer-programming with ChatGPT too much tonight. : ) Have a good night all! (You're not bots) Thanks!25KViews0likes3CommentsCan we require MFA for SSPR enrollment?
Is there a way to require MFA for SSPR (self-service password reset) enrollment? This would be ideal for our tenant to ensure a valid user (not just having the password) authenticates with MFA, or other Conditional Access policies, in order to do initial SSPR enrollment. I'm not so much concerned with the reset process, just the enrollment process right now. Thanks!Re: Can I install "Windows Team" on a PC?
I completely think we should be 'allowed' to use that, but I'd prefer it to be baked into the Windows 11 package as a mode you turn on, like "kiosk mode" so you could leave an all-in-one at a desktop in a talking room or a small huddle space, and run it like the hotdesk scenario they're showing with the new AIO24 Yealink Deskvision product. https://www.nojitter.com/team-collaboration-tools-workspaces/microsoft-ignite-2021-teams-extends-meeting-capabilities But Microsoft spent all that time to build the Windows 10 Team Edition OS, but it feels like it should just be a mode or capability of the overall OS, so customers can apply this as part of any licensed PC. Why not? This is actually a wayyyy more appealing concept to me than letting people run Windows 10 PRO on a Surface Hub 2S... just feels like a waste. The opposite is re-enabling machines or displays that could otherwise still have useful life and WAY more efficient and secure than having people run standard Windows PCs with a guest user (password on a stickynote, if password protected at all) - it's just not designed for that. Enabling "Teams Mode" for a windows PC that has a touch screen and/or stylus, vs. only keyboard and mouse might determine the UI and experience. So long as it has network/internet access and an account to provision it (this could be automated and provisioned with an account Temporary Access Pass (TAP) in the future maybe, so people can provision their own rooms and then turn a PC into a room for that area, knowing that it's locked down to the (again, I stress this - Already Built and usable today) capabilities in Windows 10 Teams Edition, it just needs to be let free for us to use. : ) It's such a great feature! For example, the Surface Hubs have touch and a stylus, as well as a keyboard/trackpad. So you can pickup the stylus and it launches a whiteboard session. Or you tap the screen (or use the trackpad) to click "Join Meeting" for the already scheduled meeting, or tap the appropriate button to start a new meeting, call someone else, or start sharing your laptop to the display. A display with only mouse/keyboard would have a similar UI to the aforementioned Yealink product, easily moved around by a mouse or trackpad for the room.2.5KViews0likes0Comments1:1 calls, user is muted as soon as PSTN ringing starts
This only occurs on certain headsets, and started for our users after yesterday's Windows patch went out (10/19/2021). We're on Windows 10. User has Bose headphones; haven't confirmed if they are certified device but they've been working great until yesterday. Now when the user makes a call in Teams via PSTN (we have direct routing), as soon as the call is initiated the user is put on mute. This is a 1:1 phonecall initiated by the user, not joining a meeting where the client mutes you (and notifies you). When the user joins another meeting or makes a 1:1 call to another Teams user, it works fine. It only does this when it interprets that it's a phonecall, and the bluetooth headphones put it in mute. Has anyone else seen this, or know of any controls in the Teams app that can control this? There is no error, it's just a default behavior that I think should be changed, or there's a bug somewhere. The user can only tell because they can see their microphone icon showing it's muted, as soon as the call starts. They have to manually unmute their phone call (that they just initiated) every time they call out to PSTN or anything across Direct Routing link.29KViews4likes56CommentsAlways up to date XML file all versions and build numbers of Windows 10?
Hi, is there a Microsoft-provided structured document (XML) that shows all builds/OS versions and their current status, such as deployed to Dev/Beta channels for insider, vs. "Current Branch"/"Current Branch Business" etc. so we can see where Microsoft publicly is releasing deploying these? I know each org can make determinations about how/when to deploy based on these criteria, but it seems like MS makes the determination and pushes a given build or version number to those channels (such as when 21H2 gets pushed to masses or "current branch" if that's what it's still called). 🙂 I'd like to see an always updated file that tells me what the current version is, if that makes sense. Anyone know if this is a thing, or could provide a link? Thanks! Chris978Views0likes0CommentsRe: Sharing Screen & Annotation during a Teams Meeting
I agree it probably should be a Microsoft option> I know there's the old ZoomIt tools (Sysinternals - a Microsoft toolkit) but it's pretty clunky. I'm hearing a lot of this concern that ZOOM can do it but TEAMS can't. I think there's a Uservoice but doesn't have a lot of traction. Hopefully it'll be something they add in time as they've been targeting a lot of the Zoom features to try to keep users from migrating to Zoom instead. https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/37722985-screen-sharing-markup-annotation275KViews3likes0CommentsRe: AZURE AD Over ADFS
Vouching for this reply/solution as well - we went through the same transition and never looked back! Azure AD (if you're premium, so E3 or AADP Plan1) and do Seamless SSO with GPOs, Password Hash Sync and (pass through authentication) for synchronizing your AD to AzureAD. Works like a charm, and no more hassle of ADFS farm to manage! Also gets to centrally take advantage of AzureAD being the single control plane for identity on other non-microsoft products (basically all SaaS platforms that support SAML) and use any Azure AD conditional access rules to control access as well, such as MFA or requiring Intune enrollment, etc.2.4KViews1like2CommentsRe: Can we require MFA for SSPR enrollment?
Thanks VasilMichev! Do you or anyone else with experience on this have an update on how this can be accomplished? I'm pretty sure the enrollment processes are still segmented. Any way to identify the SSPR enrollment page and create a Conditional Access rule for that app, requiring registration to come from an Intune-managed device, an MFA challenge, or both? I know Conditional Access can do this, just not sure if the "SSPR Registration" page is considered an Enterprise Application in the AzureAD admin portal so I can apply this rule to it. Thanks!5.3KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Whiteboard sharing on Surface Hub "Something went wrong. Please try again."
I also have a ticket in with MS, just created. I just wanted to see if the community had seen anything like this before as well, and hope to share the resolution/information with you all when I find it as well.6.1KViews0likes0CommentsWhiteboard sharing on Surface Hub "Something went wrong. Please try again."
See two attached screenshots, one is from a 55" and the other an 84" surface hub. We really want this to work, but can't seem to get it going. We can make it work between two Surface Pros or Studios running Windows 10, with bi-directional screen/drawing capability. It is awesome, just need it to work on the Surface Hub as well! Thanks. Anyone else having this issue? It happens right after clicking the icon in the top right, looks like a person with a plus sign. Then click start sharing session, then presented this error. Behavior was identical on both of these units. Dialog box title: Collaborate now with Surface Hub Error is: Something went wrong. Please try again.6.2KViews0likes5CommentsVideo screen size and real estate / UI in Skype for Business
Here are a couple examples of screen real estate for a couple video calls I'm in routinely. For one, the big use of an audio/phone-only tile is a HUGE waste of space, and there's no other way to manually reconfigure the layout of the gallery, or re-sizing, or even maximizing an individual speaker (with video) only covers about 30% of my screen, even when running in full-screen mode. Joining a SFB meeting of any kind (other than person-to-person) really is a terrible layout/experience if I'm trying to catch any visual detail from the remote side, and there's no way to maximize or expand that frame today. Is there any development work to enhance the current UI and screen real estate challenges with this meeting experience, or is all of the development moving towards the Microsoft Teams experience (and I just have to suck it up until then)? Thanks in advance - if there's any tips on how to better use the layout controls to get to my objective, or if I'm missing some sleuthy button, that would be appreciated as well. Cheers, Chris p.s. one of the remote devices is a surface Hub, and I'm viewing this on a 28" Surface Studio monitor, so it should be massive but with this layout/size it's very difficult to see at all in this UI configuration.Re: Resetting passwords on Azure AD-joined devices is much easier with the latest Windows update
This is absolutely brilliant!! Really wish this supported Hybrid-joined (Azure AD + traditional AD-joined) devices. I heard on Twitter that this is anticipated to be supported in the next major Windows 10 release, Spring 2018. Hoping to see it sooner than that, but this is great either way!14KViews0likes0Comments
