Re: Anyone else hate the New Desktop Outlook?.
I agree with you HillenL ...it's getting better slowly and more features that were already available in the Classic Outlook are being added each month. What is a little dissappointing is that there don't appear to be any official Microsoft people responding to the feedback on this page...or maybe it's just hard to find those responses. But we need to be persistent with out feedback I agree!871Views2likes0CommentsRe: Anyone else hate the New Desktop Outlook?.
I just checked my new Outlook, and finally, you can highlight text in an email and right-click to reveal the Format Text menu. That feature was not available until relatively recently as I recall. But for me it's there now! However, there is no Format Paint option, which is a real pain. Another frustrating thing is that if you mispell something in the Email Subject, it gets highlighted in red as an spelling error, but you cannot (still) right or left click to reveal spelling suggestions! Though, I just checked and actually, you cannot do that in the Classic Outlook either. Anyway, I'm still not ready to switch over yet...just testing it every now and then. Argh...677Views2likes1CommentRe: Anyone else hate the New Desktop Outlook?.
Unfortunately, Malouki , I doubt that is going to happen now. It is very different that is for sure, though there are some things I am beginning to get used to, but there are so many features from the old Outlook that are missing and likely to never appear in this version. Some of them are gradually coming across though many just are gone.770Views1like0CommentsRe: Anyone else hate the New Desktop Outlook?.
GianniTic...it will get better for sure. In many ways, it is still way behind the Classic Outlook though with functionality and the ability to customise views etc. And sadly, that's probably not going to change unfortunately. There are some useful new features being added too of course. BUT, I'm totally with you, the way this product was released was awful! Let's hope they never try to pull that stunt again!516Views0likes1CommentRe: Accept & Do Not Send a Response
Grant Tayloryep...I have not switched over to the new Outlook just yet. But I am testing it on one of my devices and getting ready to train people in how to use it. We won't have a lot of choice soon sadly. In fact, only last week, one of my friends here in Australia was forced to use it. So, the writing is on the wall! 😉199Views0likes1CommentRe: Anyone else hate the New Desktop Outlook?.
RobSoto...I just don't get why they released it so early to everyone? A year ago, it was nowhere near ready for the general public. Much better now...but they have shot themselves in the foot here, because so many people don't like it. ...which I get is normal with a such a different design but at least get it close! 😉680Views4likes1CommentRe: Anyone else hate the New Desktop Outlook?.
Darren77999 I presume you mean the new Outlook, right? I'm testing it on one of my devices. I do find it a bit slower and even sometimes clunky compared to the Classic Outlook. One frustration is when you single click in a Calendar timeslot, it automatically opens an appointment...argh. Also, opening the Calendar and/To Do in the "My Day" option takes at least a minute to update! There are some things I like btw, but it has been released way too early in my opinion!579Views2likes1CommentRe: Email Templates
Oh right, of course. I get it. It's not an option for me as I train people in how to use Outlook (in organisations), so I need to be on the same version as everyone else. I'll keep pushing the Templates barrow and see how I go! Appreciate your response Hornblower409861Views0likes0CommentsRe: Email Templates
Hornblower409 I already have 365 for Business though and still cannot create/save templates that I can see. "New Outlook doesn't (and may never) support this feature in full." I hope you are wrong about that, but we'll see, I guess. So, what will Office Home & Business 2024 give me that I don't already have? I might be missing your point.774Views0likes0CommentsRe: Email Templates
Well, done! Teresa_Cyrus ...I am in the process of pulling together a new Training Guide this year for the new Outlook, but at this stage, at least with my clients, most have taken my advice and not switched yet. But I recognise it's going to happen soon....722Views0likes0CommentsRe: Email Templates
Teresa_Cyrus Well, that's good to know! I will make a feature request later! To be honest, I'm staggered they released the New Outlook so early, when it's clearly not up to standard. I train hundreds of people each year in how to use Outlook more effectively. My standard response when people ask me should I switch over is NO, not yet, it's not ready for public consumption LOL...🤣 Though to be fair, I do like some of the features. At least the meeting acceptance issues have been resolved with the RSVP feature.611Views0likes0CommentsRe: Assign a Task - Microsoft Outlook
EdithN I mean your other option is to still use the old Outlook. I have not switched over completely yet. I'm trialling it on one device, but there's too many missing features in my opinion. I mean the Task List in the old Outlook is way more functional in so many ways.73Views0likes0CommentsRe: Email Templates
Thanks Hornblower409 ...I already have that Extension installed and did play with it. Seems more like Quick Parts in the old Outlook except, you cannot add pictures and not really an email template sadly. The Email Templates I use, have attachments, screenshots and some images. A real template. I'll definitely use the My Templates (except they're not 😉) in the new Outlook, but I'm not switching to the new outlook on my main device yet unless we can save some real email templates!255Views0likes0CommentsRe: Email Templates
Thanks Teresa_Cyrus yeah, I had already figured out how to open my existing Templates in the new Outlook, which is sort of OK, BUT not really workable as perhaps like you, I use a lot of email templates, and I need to be able to update them frequently. Just another reason to hold off moving to the new Outlook sadly. I have switched over on one of my devices just to start discovering what this program can do, but I wasn't really expecting that not being able to save an email template would be one of them! Nice Video though and thanks for taking the time to share it.484Views0likes0CommentsEmail Templates
I've switched over one of my devices to the "New Outlook"....only to discover there is no ability to save an email as a Template? Well not as far as I can see atm at least. I use heaps of email templates in the old Outlook, and they are an incredible time-saver. Am I missing a feature here?1.4KViews0likes13CommentsRe: Assign a Task - Microsoft Outlook
Correct! Sadly...I'm pretty frustrated that Outlook Tasks has been replaced by To Do. I'm forcing myself to use it, but it has way less functionality than Outlook Tasks. In terms of assigning a Task, you can do that in To Do, but you need to create a Shared List first, which is a bit frustrating.81Views1like4Comments
