Re: Ability to send an email to Planner and create a Task
I haven't seen it on the roadmap, but it would be a nice feature. I often think of tasks and email myself, although that's where the coming-soon Planner mobile app will help, but I'd still want email for when I forward something.197KViews0likes9CommentsRe: Outlook 365 - availability indicator
Unfortunately I'm not sure if you'll get much support or assistance on that one here, as this area is more for the business version of Office 365 where the version used is Skype for Business. I'd like to help myself but don't use Skype consumer much myself. Perhaps there is a Skype consumer forum area on the Microsoft Answers site or Skype website itself?8.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Searching File History PSTs
Yes it is! Actually no it's not, but I wanted to give you some hope for a moment. :-) What you could do is import the PST files into a shared mailbox in Exchange Server or Online, which will index faster than your computer and therefore make it easier/faster to find the content. Or stick them into eDiscovery by importing them back into a user account first.1.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: Holy contacts Batman! (search contact list)
Skype for Business does indeed look up Outlook when you're typing a name - so will display everyone it knows you've emailed. But I'm not sure how this is a problem to find people - are you users stopping to type the name after the first couple of letters? I've never actually had users complain about this because the more the type of the name the more narrowed the search results become. Just type the full name of the person to get the exact result from the directory - unless your company specialises in emailing and employing people called "John Smith". :-)1.8KViews0likes1CommentRe: Downsizing your Office 365 tenant from "First Release" to "Selected Users On First Release"
I'm a little bit confused as to what you're asking, but I'll take a stab. If you move from First Release for the entire tenant down to Selected Users, the services will still be the same but the availability of those features under First Release will only be visible to the selected users - not everyone else.1.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: 100 ways to do 100 things...
Do you want to create an aggregated view of all of their calendars? If so, there's a few ways about this, but a pre-requisite is going to be that they set the permissions of their calendar to be at a level where the subject of meetings is visible (not just Free/Busy). One way to do this would be for the person who wants to view all 10 calendars to simply open each person's calendar in Outlook. The calendar display in Outlook allows you to display multiple calendars side by side, although for 10 people you won't be able to see much. So you can actually compress them all into one calendar view which allows you to see gaps. Alternatively you could potentially look to get something built in SharePoint, but I don't think there's anything out of the box for that. The question I would be asking is what is the actual objective of seeing all their calendars? You can't filter out things like lunch because there's no way to do this programmatically unless everyone uses the exact same wording for the appointment. You can obviously not see private items so that's not an issue. If the objective is to see their availability - then the Scheduling Assistant in Outlook meeting invites will provide you with recommendations on free slots for scheduling meetings. If it's to keep an eye on their calendars for the purpose of micromanaging, you are probably better off doing this by exception for the poor performers - not across everyone.1.8KViews1like1CommentRe: Assistant role in the new Office 365 Profile Card
I'm confused by what you're asking around how is it displayed in the sceenshot? This is a replacement of the previous contact card. Do you mean you're after the ability to change who is your assistant, or have the assistant be able to change who is their manager? If so you might want to look at Hyperfish for that.2.8KViews0likes1CommentRe: SharePoint Online vs. Microsoft Teams for Project Management and Cross-Site Document Searchability
Hi Doug, Just a clarification - Teams doesn't come with a "watered down version of SharePoint". It sits on top of Office 365 Groups which includes its own document library, but also comes with a fully functional SharePoint site. The challenge you have is that each Office 365 Group is its own SharePoint site collection, which means it has a unique set of permissions and in your scenario - you cannot easily search across them. However you can actually search across multiple site collections in one of two ways: - configure the Enterprise Search Center - use the Content Search Web Part as it can aggregate content across multiple site collections Just be aware that Teams is not a solution simply to get you a SharePoint site. Teams is a chat space with a virtually all-in-one UI to access resources from Office 365 Groups - which is where the real functionality comes from. Based on what you've said from your IT department, I'm taking the guess (without being rude) that they don't know much about these features of Office 365 because if they did they would have been able to answer your question in the first place but also be able to guide you to the correct solution. I'd suggest looking to engage an external Office 365 specialist (either company or individual like myself) to help you, IT and the broader business understand the different collaboration options.5.4KViews1like1CommentRe: Confusing-Sharing
To share with just one person, press the share button and enter the person's name - then hit share and you're done. The "get a link" is there for a more convenient way to be able to get access to the file, regardless if the audience is an individual or a group. The main difference is that if you choose to share the file individually and that person wants someone else to access it - they have to come back to you to share it to that other person. Whereas the "get a link" method means anyone can simply pass the link around to others without involving you.5.4KViews0likes17CommentsRe: Turn On Mic + Video Automatically
I've never seen this setting, and honestly don't think it does or should exist. Otherwise users would join a conference and may not be aware that their mic is live and video is showing. They should have the "opt in" approach of un-muting themselves and choosing to share their video.1.6KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Intune and Outlook App authentication issues 3/29 - 3/30
Did you see anything in your Service Health Dashboard? Usually they will post a Post Incident Review within about 5 days of any issues. Did you capture the issues of the individual users? If there was a legitimate issue then you should ask for further explanation. However you do mention migration to Azure - what kind of migration are you referring to?2.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Windows 10, Office and MSFT accounts
It depends - is your O365 an Enterprise account, or just the consumer Home/Personal subscription? If the device is for personal use, I'd suggest just using your Live ID / MSA to authenticate to it. You can always have Windows 10 and Office Pro Plus using different accounts depending where the license is and profile.1.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: security issue for corporations
Can you elaborate more on that please? It sounds like they are blocking Office 365 Groups, which would subsequently block Planner and Teams. There are no security "issues", more so probably a lack of understanding by the IT team on how to actual secure their Office 365 environment adequately using the built-in functionality.980Views0likes0Comments
