Re: Microsoft 365 Admin Center to Take Over License Assignments
Yet another short notice and inappropriate change by Microsoft, in my opinion. Hopefully they add the ability to add licences to the group on the group pop-out, like a user assignment. Adding multiple licences to a group, e.g. where a Teams Phone licence needs an appropriate 365 BP/E licence first, is slow and cumbersome in the 365 Admin Portal. LIke many others I'm sure we'd rather Microsoft fix important things instead of keep generating more confusion and work by making multiple short notice changes to the way things work plenty well already.2.2KViews2likes0CommentsRe: How to use the new Microsoft Lists features [New Feature 2024]
Lists are certainly far faster now, this is a great result. I do have two new issues though. Does anyone know what's happened to the quick access panel that used to appear on the right? Previously I could easily edit rows by having that open and selecting a row. Now I have to click on the row to have it pop open then edit it and close it again, this is far less efficient when I have 100s of rows to edit this way and undoes the performance benefits. We're also going to need to update all of our documentation as this was used across the business. These are critical UX changes that really should be pubished in advance. I get considerably more errors with the loading of lists, i.e. failed to load refesh the page and 401.5.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: WVD logon issues. The Group Policy Client Service failed the sign-in. I've set up a 5 minute scheduled task that runs a script (below). It's not pretty and if someone logs off and back on in less than 5 minutes it may still error until the 5 minute point but it works for us. We can run this with minimal complications until a production ready version is released. Hope this helps a few of you. $profilesKey = "HKLM:SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileService\References\" $userProfiles = Get-ChildItem -Path $profilesKey ForEach ($userProfile in $userProfiles) { $RefCountProperty = Get-ItemPropertyValue -Path "Registry::$userProfile" -Name "RefCount" If ($RefCountProperty[0] -eq 1) { $RefCountProperty[0] = 0 Set-ItemProperty -Path "Registry::$userProfile" -Name "RefCount" -Value $RefCountProperty } }16KViews3likes1CommentRe: WVD logon issues. Since this preview was January, I know there's a subsequent issue with it, and it's now March can we have an update please? I have a few affected users who log on when I'm not working, due to time zones and me being the only IT person in the business. I can't have them not working until I get back to work, imagine if I was on leave for a week.15KViews0likes1CommentRe: WVD logon issues. The Group Policy Client Service failed the sign-in. CaptainReboot Thanks for alerting us all to this, disappointing it didn't come from Guido or someone from MS. Looks like this is the line that covers it: FSLogix now correctly handles cases where the Windows Profile SVC refCount registry value is set to an unexpected value. We only have one server and it's production so unable to test yet, will be good to see how others get on.15KViews0likes5CommentsRe: WVD logon issues. We've now seen this twice in 2 days and we aren't in a position to fix it quickly when it happens due to the size of our team. I don't understand how it can suddenly get so bad when it's been running fine for a long while.66KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Unable to install Universal Print Connector
Jon Copeland Are you running it as an administrator? Also, if you check your local group policy editor (gpdit.msc) on the machine running the connector you need to navigate to Computer Policy->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Local Policies->User Rights Assignment and check the content of the 'Log on as a service' setting. Depending on what is set in there the NT Authority\System may not be given permission. Also check the 'Deny log on as a service' as this may have something applied that is blocking it.9.4KViews0likes2CommentsRe: MSIX app attach using portal isn't working
Praveen Kumar My mistake was that I hadn't imported the self-signed certificate into the Trusted Root Certification Authorities on the local computer. Have you made sure you've done this and it is installed for the computer instead of your account?2.4KViews1like2CommentsRe: Welcome to the Azure Purview tech community!
Sumi Venkitaraman Unfortunately it looks like the preview either has a fault is overloaded by people wanting to give it a go. Two separate attempts to create the Purview Account have resulted in 500 errors when trying to access the portal in West Europe. The resource appears to be created fine but, as a GA, I can't connect and neither can my users with Purview specific roles. I'll leave it over the weekend and see if things have settled down. Thanks, Lee.4.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: AppReadiness Service and Black Screen
StevenR , The server is all patched, has the registry keys added and the latest FSLogix version installed too, it was fine until yesterday when this started again with no changes applied and rebooting cleared it for about 5 active hours. I only have the one VM to keep the costs down but I'm going to go with having two and shutting down one at a time in future. With only 5 or 6 users active at a time it never strains and works well, except for this particular issue. I am looking to build a new pool from scratch on 20H2 to ensure nothing came through the original image. I'll report back once that's built. Thanks Lee32KViews0likes8CommentsRe: AppReadiness Service and Black Screen
So, starting yesterday, this issue has returned on a daily basis. It doesn't make it 24 hours before the issue starts again. I don't have a busy server, max 15 users at a time with only 3 using full desktop, so it shouldn't be happening this frequently. Restarting the AppReadiness service just causes more problems and the only way to resolve it is to reboot which means those who are working have to stop, making matters worse. I've tired to re-open my case with MS as it's affecting or entire Finance team just as Payroll starts!32KViews0likes10CommentsRe: AppReadiness Service and Black Screen
StevenR Thanks, I got passed this same thing with the public preview of the latest FSLogix installer yesterday from MS. I installed this morning and will see how it all goes for the next few days. Great to see they are actively working on resolving these issues.31KViews0likes0CommentsRe: AppReadiness Service and Black Screen
Jason Fritz Thanks for these, I've applied them so that the we don't get stuck at the black screen, however I've found that the App Readiness service still causes other problems. For our users they still have issues with anything requiring Modern Authentication to O365/Azure and Outlook stops connecting. I also have a case with MS but I can't get any info on the real fix and I also ended up discovering the Windows Search bug and another issue with FSLogix not correctly disconnecting VHD files correctly.32KViews0likes2CommentsRe: WVD Issue -Explorer Constantly Crashing and Restarting
tilikumtim What is the OneDrive issue you are experiencing? We are running into the issue in this discussion but also utilise OneDrive Files On Demand and have issues with things disappearing between WVD and local machines. Just wondered if this was the same issue? I'm applying the service restart to my environment as we were first impacted by the App Readiness bug and then this issue. I've spent the last 3 days working on getting WVD stable again and 2 days last week so WVD is proving to be a major headache we can do without.18KViews0likes6Comments
