Re: Dev Channel update to 116.0.1923.0 is live
A while after I made the post, scrolling randomly started working but then stopped working again after the 116.0.1938.1 update. Since you mentioned the sidebar, I tried turning it on and off in the settings (I have it disabled in settings) and scrolling started working again. Looks like some weird interaction with the sidebar can block scrolling from working properly on the new UI.443Views0likes0CommentsRe: Dev Channel update to 116.0.1923.0 is live
>Fixed unable to use the scrollbar when the mouse cursor is at the edge of the screen. If this was meant to fix scrolling on the new "rounded" UI then it remains broken for me. Scrolling still doesn't work when the mouse cursor is at the edge of the screen to the left or right (past the scrollbar) with the new UI. No issues on the old UI. Remove (or redraw) that amateur-looking grey "profile" icon, make the whole button squared, maybe even a color change to a more neutral grey/dark that's just subjective. The button used to be squared and dark grey if I'm not mistaken way back when, which fit the theme of the browser but was replaced to the current placeholder.20KViews5likes0CommentsRe: Top Feedback Summary for April 7
HotCakeX I'm thinking the same, like that error about image of the day only updating on VPN connection. But at the same time nothing in the post implies it is a controlled rollout. Could be a simple miscommunication between browser and community teams but annoying nonetheless. I guess at this point I might as well switch to some dedicated NTP extension like Momentum since native one has been broken for quite a long time on my device.4.9KViews0likes1CommentRe: Dev channel update to 83.0.474.0 is live
josh_bodner reposting my issue from the old thread: Image of the day won't update on my main internet connection but updates fine on VPN. Console throws up this error when Edge tries to get new image of the day using my main connection: {"errId":8182,"errMsg":"Missing Hotspots Surface Creative.","errSource":"ImageHotspots.manager.ts","severity":1,"pb":{"customMessage":"Hotspots creative: null"}} Image updates fine on VPN without any errors. Started happening more than a month ago, different browser versions. Various troubleshooting steps (reinstalls, new settings etc) did not help.12KViews0likes1CommentRe: Dev channel update to 83.0.467.0 is live
josh_bodner I have an issue with image of the day not updating on my main internet connection but updates fine on VPN connection. DevTools network tab doesn't show any failed requests/connections but console throws up this error when Edge tries to fetch a new image of the day: {"errId":8182,"errMsg":"Missing Hotspots Surface Creative.","errSource":"ImageHotspots.manager.ts","severity":1,"pb":{"customMessage":"Hotspots creative: null"}} If new image was successfully fetched via VPN then this error doesn't pop up until 24h have passed when Edge wants to get a new image. Any idea what's happening here? Currently on 83.0.477.0 but it's been like that for a month, maybe even longer, so I'm not sure when it started happening exactly. Already did all default troubleshooting steps: browser reinstall, clean profile, different settings etc but no luck so far.11KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Dev channel update to 82.0.446.0 is live
josh_bodner yup, tried pretty much everything I could think of. Both reinstalling and switching install order on my main OS as well as Windows Sandbox - nothing changes, media download with Edge stops working for files set to open with mpv. Changing default app for the media file type from mpv to anything else instantly fixes download issues for that particular type.2.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Dev channel update to 82.0.446.0 is live
josh_bodner Changing "ask before save" has no effect on this and it happens on all channels: Canary, Dev and Beta. Mpv on Windows integrates into OS via mpv-install.bat that comes with the player so it might be due to some weird registry paths mpv adds. But since other browsers, including vanilla Chromium, have no such issue and work fine, this leads me to believe that this is mainly an Edge issue.2.7KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Dev channel update to 82.0.446.0 is live
josh_bodner welp, my previous post was classified as spam and removed so reposting a tl;dr version without any links. There's a weird issue with how Edge interacts with mpv player on Windows. It's impossible to download a media file that is associated with mpv player using Edge. For example a webm file associated (open with) with mpv. Either nothing will happen when you try to save it in Edge (no Save window popup) or Edge will offer to Open a file (in mpv) instead of showing "Save" window. Easy way to reproduce is try to download a webm with Edge when webm isn't associated with any player, and do the same after assigning webm format to open with mpv. This doesn't happen with Chromium or Firefox, only new Edge.2.8KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Dev channel update to 82.0.446.0 is live
josh_bodner Please fix Edge interaction with MPV player. Problem: If a file extension associated with mpv player, it becomes impossible to download such file with Edge. Either nothing is happening when pressing "Save As" or trying to download the file using "Download" function of the native Edge media player, or Edge offers to Open the file in mpv instead of offering to save it. Steps to repro: Try downloading a random webm file with Edge - there shouldn't be any issues. Doesn't have to be webm, just a media file associated with mpv. Now "install" mpv from the link below using a bat file, associate webm with mpv and try to download the same webm again - either nothing is happening or Edge offers to Open this file in mpv player. MPV player in quiestion: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mpv-player-windows/ Integrated in OS via mpv-install.bat that comes with the player in mpv/installer folder (since the player is portable), here's full contents of this bat: https://pastebin.com/CtkxRPyT I know mpv isn't a popular Windows player but I don't have such issues saving files with vanilla Chromium or Firefox, so this leads me to believe this is an Edge issue and not mpv. I've attached an example of the Open dialogue that pops up when I press "Save As".2.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Sign in with a Google account - Discussion
Honestly I don't mind having an option to have Google Sync and other sync providers. But only if it's going to be an optional opt-in feature e.g. you active sync provider you want in the settings and it starts to download necessary 3rd-party modules. Unless Microsoft somehow finds a way to ship those providers without enforcing their telemetry/data collection. Not sure how realistic any of it sounds though but if something works out in the end, I won't say no to that.125KViews6likes0CommentsRe: Dev channel update to 80.0.328.4 is live
I did a system restore today to a manual restore point I created earlier the same day and it nuked most of my Edge cookies (got logged out of all sites) and reset some Edge things to default: new tab page, settings->System. Happened on Canary 335 but I'd assume current Dev will have the same behavior. I believe when I created this manual restore point, I had Edge running so this could've contributed to this but I don't think I ever experience this thing in Chrome or Firefox. Rather annoying and hopefully not intended behavior.7.9KViews0likes1CommentRe: Dev channel update to 79.0.308.1 is live
I have the same bug, posted about it earlier in the thread. I just tried latest Canary build 79.0.313.0 and it appears that it's been fixed. No more 000000 or "Work" account name, it's back to Profile 1 and Sync button works properly. Fingers crossed it'll get merged for the next Dev build. Unfortunately, InPrivate icon is still rounded and pinned icon right-click task menu remains broken (though this appears to be a Canary issue, nothing to do with current Dev).8.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: Top feedback summary for October 22
What I'd really like to see in the future is some degree of customization for right-click menu, even if it's done via flags. For example I have absolutely no use for "Print" or "Cast media to device" so these options are nothing but a waste of space in my case. Also I saw people mention the ability to see what "Default" option for flags really mean, whether it's disabled/enabled and whatnot. Something like "Default (enabled)" would be great.6.1KViews5likes1CommentRe: Dev channel update to 79.0.308.1 is live
Yeah, creating a new profile fixes the zeroes issue in the Privacy and Security settings menu. But it seems impossible to remove my original profile and use the new one instead. josh_bodner Thanks. Also, I didn't notice it at first since I don't use online account/Sync but it appears that Sync is completely broken on my profile and on fresh installation as well. By default after fresh install my profile is named "Work" for some reason, also has PC name and Windows username below it but no Sign-in button and Sync itself is greyed out and says "Sync isn’t available for this account". Creating new profile enables Sync for that profile, and it also doesn't have PCname/username below the profile name if that's relevant. I attached screenshot examples from the 79.0.309.0 Canary running on Windows Sandbox (hence weird PC/username) but everything is identical on the current Dev build.21KViews3likes0CommentsRe: Dev channel update to 79.0.308.1 is live
>Fixed an issue where the first run experience greets users as “Profile 1” instead of their name. Welp, all I get now instead of default Profile 1 is a metric ton of 0000000000 instead. First noticed it on some Canary version (happened some version after new profile icons were already added). It also messed up Privacy and Security settings page by adding this message on top so now I have huge scrollbar on the bottom to scroll through all those zeroes: Hi 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000, we value your privacy. Anyone else affected by this issue? Didn't see anyone mention it in the Canary discussions. This is still an issue on the current Canary build 79.0.309.0.22KViews0likes4Comments
