Sorry, Microsoft Edge update check failed.
I'm using MacOS and this is happening across the latest Beta (release candidate), Dev and Canary releases. When I click on "About Microsoft Edge" I get this error message "Sorry, Microsoft Edge update check failed." and if I open Microsoft AutoUpdate by clicking on "Open Microsoft AutoUpdate", it manages to check and download updates fine. If I close the settings page and open "About Microsoft Edge" again, Edge says it's up-to-date (it's actually not!). I've tried reinstalling Edge (and removing all the profile preferences), reinstalling Microsoft AutoUpdate itself. No changes in behavior whatsoever.Re: Edge Dev for MacOS never auto updates
Joon_Chang I have v78.0.276.2 and it says it's up-to-date, even though the latest version is 79.0.279.0. This screenshot was taken 5 minutes ago. I installed it by downloading it from Microsoft Edge Insider. I've installed and uninstalled Edge several times, I've also tried the beta build. I've never seen it auto update though, ever. I'm a developer, so I can help you troubleshoot this if you need more information.Edge Dev for MacOS never auto updates
How long does a typical weekly update take to roll out? I'm asking because every time a new build is out, I open the about page to check the version of my Edge browser and it says it's up-to-date even though there's a newer build available. I don't think auto update has ever worked for me. Even 5 days after a new build has come out, Edge still reports that it's up-to-date. I'm on MacOS Mojave.Re: Dev channel update to 79.0.279.0 is live
josh_bodner How long do updates take to propagate? I'm a MacOS user and every time I check for updates after a new build is out, it says that it's up to date. I don't recall Edge Dev ever successfully updating itself on its own. Almost a week after the new build is announced, I end up manually downloading the installer and installing Edge again.
