Microsoft Edge is getting heavy by the bloated features
I love the browser ever since it first came out as a new chromium-browser. However, the browser is getting bloated by a bunch of features that most people don't need, and don't get me wrong here, I do think some of the features can be useful to certain users out there, but if you look at the recent "buy now pay later" feature, it definitely not useful to the majority of the people, as the feature is only working on certain countries. Personally, I really think most of the features can serve as an extension instead, so users can remove the feature/extension if they don't need it. If you ever look at the edge browser app size (on macOS), it's approx 600MB right now, compared to chrome 400MB, that's crazy. And not to mention, the browser is getting super unstable recently on macOS & Linux. Overall, I personally feel like the edge is pretty much a browser with bunch of ads, literally. I really hope that the team can do something to improve it, but for the time being, I'm just going to move away from the browser for a while.Re: New Update Experience for Mac available in Edge Beta / Dev / Canary
So the Edge is basically stuck forever, but for some reason, there's an invisible Edge window that cannot be close, I guess it's maybe something to do with the update stuck? Anyway, I have to force close the Edge in Activity Monitor to end the "forever stuck" issue. So this might not be related to this topic, but the invisible window seems to be quite an annoying issue to due with, this is so far what I can find on Google that exactly describe my issue https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251214156Re: New Update Experience for Mac available in Edge Beta / Dev / Canary
chenrylee I have tried to install the dev channel last week, but I installed it via homebrew then update it to the latest dev version with MAU, so to answer your questions: 1. I can't tell if the actual installer still came with MAU or not. 2. I do notice that it doesn't rely on the MAU anymore, so ideally you can remove it manually, but only if you don't have any other MSFT apps that are still utilizing MAU But do note that the dev version is quite buggy from what I notice so far.Re: New Update Experience for Mac available in Edge Beta / Dev / Canary
Olivia_Zhang When can we expect this to be released on the stable channel? It's frustrating whenever there's a new update released, the browser basically never going to open itself after the update, even by clicking the app icon. I have to force quit the MSEdge in Activity Monitor to get it to works again.Dark theme UX on Android (Edge Beta)
The dark theme on the Android version is been there for a long time, however, the dark theme is kinda "incomplete", which is happening on both production & beta version, you can still see a certain part of the UI keep showing light/white, like showing white background during the app startup. I switched back to Chrome just because of this UX problem. What do you guys think about this? Here are some screenshots that I found annoying while using the dark theme:
