Re: Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?
Well guess what everyone.... I just got this Email from Microsoft. We Heard you, and we Fixed it. Hi, Good news!! On Oct 18, 2024, you shared with us this feedback: Show Favorites in New Tab is MISSING again..... and the "workaround" we add to Edge Shortcuts isn't[…] We want to let you know that we fixed an issue that's related to this feedback in an upcoming update to Microsoft Edge. Thank you for helping us make Microsoft Edge better than it was before. We can't wait to hear what you think of next! The Microsoft Edge Team 😞 Wonder if they actually did fix it....? And what Update it will be in? It would be a miracle if they did.... nice they are FINALLY listening after 2 YEARS they first added the Feature.... LOL Well, we shall see....305Views2likes2CommentsRe: Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?
All because of these "people".... I've had to spend my ENTIRE day trying to get Maxthon and Vivaldi to work.... Maxthon has lot's of issues that aren't fixable anytime soon, so that was a waste. Vivaldi I've had to do a MASSIVE amount of "Modification" just to make things look and work properly, at least "most" of what needed to be done. It's one thing Edge did right is their "design" and functionality was good out of the box, I didn't have to "mod" anything. But, I've now gotten Vivaldi working to where it looks like I can use it. Though, I still have to see if their "Email Client" is good enough..... ANOTHER example of Microsoft's absolute incompetence.... I have to leave Windows Mail and Calendar, MS's BEST Email client in UI, ease of use etc. because they are getting rid of it. Outlook is absolutely TERRIBLE.... bad UI, no Unified Inbox, Intrusive Ad, etc. These damned people WASTE so much of my TIME, when I should be Job Hunting right now. 😞490Views0likes3CommentsRe: Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?
For the LOVE OF ****.....!!!! Now with today's updates, I've checked BOTH of those Shortcuts, and they aren't working. I think the "reason" I got them working again is because I've also disabled the million things Microsoft keeps running in the background with Edge in Edge Settings. So, I think that might have been why yours still wouldn't work? But, the Update today,, which I think added something back or enabled a setting I had removed, added one of those back, so now I have to try to figure it out if I can fix it again. 😞 I truly HATE Microsoft.... A simple feature they can't actually get to work. NEEDED FEATURE. UPDATE: And of course, went through every Setting and don't see anything "new" or that was activated from the Update. I mean seriously.... Am I going to have to go back to MAXTHON, or maybe Vivaldi? I thought Microsoft was finally being smart adding Modern Browser functions to their Browser, but clearly NOT. Just like Windows, they can't do ANYTHING RIGHT....!!! 😞 I only went to Edge just so I could have and use my info anywhere I go, since every computer has Edge on it. But, clearly not.... I'm tried of Microsoft.... Seriously. I shouldn't have to use 5 different programs to make Windows 11 and now even 10 on some things for it to work like it should. I shouldn't have to complain CONSTANTLY about the most BASIC Browser Feature Not existing or Not working in my Browser. The world is clearly going to HELL.... 😞579Views0likes5CommentsRe: Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?
I truly HATE Microsoft.... For those who want the old "Work Around" to actually work.... I've been able to do so by putting the "Shortcut" code on BOTH the Properties of the Shortcut in the Start Menu, AND the Properties of the shortcut if you have the Shortcut pinned to the Taskbar. Anyway, putting the code in BOTH shortcuts makes it work for me. If I do just one, like the one in the Start menu it WILL NOT WORK. (though I haven't yet tried if just putting it in the Taskbar one only will work) FYI.... Oh, and why.... do I hate Microsoft more? My biggest HITS!!! - Give us a worse Start Menu in 11.... Sure, it's fine for those with a few programs, but for people like me who have up to 100 Programs all Organized, Labeled, and Sized Nice in Win10's Start Menu, easy to see and get, 11's is literally UNUSABLE...! Why couldn't they at least give us PROS 10's menu in Windows PRO at least? I mean, it's what PRO is for, us PRO's. - 11's Explorer Menu, again UNUSABLE for us Power Users.... 11's Explorer menu is someone's personal THEME, NOT designed for the masses. Shame on them. Again, provide the original in PRO at least...! We shouldn't have to use a 3rd Party program just to get BASIC functionality to work like we need, with things we TOUCH many times a day. - Forcing us into MS Outlook Mail.... Terrible UI, can't read things well like with "Mail & Calendar" it's very well done. No Unified Inbox. Intrusive AD.... when they have lots of "blank space" they could put ads if they need them "so badly". Making the Ad look like an email is just a *** move. These are my biggest current HATES atm... I have many little ones.1.1KViews0likes7CommentsRe: Seriously...? WHY is the "OPEN FAVORITES in NEW TAB" Setting gone again...???
And of course I can't use the "Open Favorites in New Tab" Properties/Target "workaround" code above at Work, because I'm not an "Administrator" who can change the "Properties" of a Shortcut. Lovely.... Thanks Microsoft for your incompetence... This is a simple setting that LONG should have been working.899Views0likes0CommentsRe: Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?
Microsofts Incompetence on this and SOOOO many other things just astounds me.... Just updated my Win11 Laptop, and this feature STILL isn't in Settings. STILL have to add the stupid workaround!!! 😞 Oh, and guess what, now I can't get the Workaround to WORK. Shutdown processes also, but it STILL won't work... I truly HATE Microsoft. UPDATE: Okay, so for those who are having a problem with the Workaround now even when closing all the processes, it appears the "fix" is to either use Edge Beta, and the workaround appears to work, or Disable in SETTINGS "Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed" This also removes an Edge Icon in the bottom right area of the Taskbar. So, when I did this All Process FINALLY actually CLOSE when closing the browser as they should. Anyway, what's so far worked for me.... What a friggen nightmare trying to troubleshoot this to get it working again. 😞 Again I HATE Microsoft, their incompetence knows no bounds. And to further complain... STILL want my Win10 Start Menu and Explorer Menu Bar back.... We should at least be given these "options" in Windows Pro..... But noooooo, can't actually have Pro features in the Pro version of Windows. FYI, I have over 100 Programs, all Organized, Sized and Grouped how I like in Win10. 11's Start Menu is literally UNUSABLE...for me!!!!! 😞4.9KViews0likes1CommentSeriously...? WHY is the "OPEN FAVORITES in NEW TAB" Setting gone again...???
This is getting absolutely rediculous.... Comes and goes willy nilly.... I stopped using the "workaround" script in the Shortcut Link, thinking you guys finally got your act together, but you didn't, so now I have to hunt that down and hope it still works. (BTW it does...) Right Click the Edge "Shortcut", click Properties, add the below to the End of the "Target" field, with a space between the text there and this. That's what I've done, works for me. The setting is back. "--enable-features=msFavoritesOpenInNewTabSetting" Further, why the heck is that Setting STILL not on my WORK Edge install? I mean, that's where I MOST need it, so I don't accidentally overwrite a page I'm working on. The level of incompetence with this company astounds me, a simple setting as this they can't keep working or add. Don't get me Started about Windows 11, the worst Start Menu they've ever created, completely UNUSABLE for us Power Users, you could have at least included it in Windows PRO, same for the proper Explorer Menu Bar, missing things with Taskbar, etc. NEVER going to Windows 11 until you fix all this... A person shouldn't be FORCED to use 3rd Party Applications in order to FIX the things we most work with, for them to work properly. I have literally over 100 Apps in my Start Menu all organized, grouped, labeled, and sized how I like. Win11 is literally UNUSABLE for me.1.2KViews0likes1CommentRe: About 'Always open favorite in new tab'
LOL, we want the SETTING, as most browsers have, and haven't had an issue with, some for 20+ Years that I've been using previously, aka Maxthon And again of course, the Setting is GONE yet again, and of course it's STILL not been put on my WORK browser, and I can't set the below workaround on it. The absolute incompetence of those who work at Microsoft. Don't get me started on Windows 11 Start Menu, literally UNUSABLE for power users, the junk useless Explorer Menu Ribbon, the missing functionality of the Taskbar, how we like to show our Windows, Right Click Menu issues, etc. Anway, the "workaround" here works still for me... Put this at the end of the "Target" Field when you right click Properties on the Edge Shortcut Link. "--enable-features=msFavoritesOpenInNewTabSetting"765Views0likes0CommentsRe: Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?

Google and Microsoft Dev's are so PETTY.... You go to the "Learn More" link and they still won't include Instructions on how to fix this problem in Edge, and I'm certain people have "messaged" them on it. Then the Microsoft Dev's are petty because they won't "save" this Setting between Updates like they save near ALL of our other Settings.4.4KViews1like0CommentsRe: Refresh all option on the tab right click
For the love of ****.... Why is this STILL not added? It was in the old Edge, every other browser I know of has it, what's Microsoft's malfunction? Same for "Open all Favorites in New Tab" Setting... It's STILL not fully and properly working. Again, what's the malfunction for this simple setting?1.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: SERIOUS PROBLEM...! Browser "Account Sign In/Out" for "Other" Devices... ACCOUNT 100% UNSECURE!!!
So... Is Microsoft going to respond to this post? To be clear as to what's happening... 1. You use a computer in which you have the Windows PIN to, but it's OPEN to everyone to use in your department. 2. You create a profile, and you're FORCED to use that Windows PIN to Create and Sync your Profile, which SHOULD NOT be happening. You should be able to access your browser profile no matter the device you're using. 3. You then "Sign Out" of your Profile and even "Delete" your browser profile, and yet ANYONE can create a profile and end up 100% creating and accessing YOUR profile, without even a PW being asked for, and they have FULL ACCESS to your browser account. The reason this is occurring is because Microsoft is storing your Microsoft Email, aka your Browser Login onto Windows itself in Accounts under "Email Accounts". So, unless you REMOVE that stored account, anyone literally has access to your browser account still, doesn't matter if you've "Signed Out" of it, AND even Deleted your browser Profile. NOT ACCEPTABLE Microsoft... This is a massive SECURITY FLAW...!!!2.2KViews0likes0CommentsPlease add "MULTI-COLUMN" Dropdown FAVORITES option...
If you like the single-column dropdown, that's fine, but for the love of heaven, it's practically UNUSABLE for me. I've been using browsers that display a favorites folder on the Favorites Bar in Multi-columns when you click on it's folder and then it drops down, instead of a single-column, for some 25 YEARS. It is SO MUCH easier to see all the favorites in that folder, than the cumbersome "scroll" the single-column way you have currently which is so old it's like from the FIRST Internet Explorer. Can you please add the option at least to display the dropdown in multiple columns? Though, you really should replace the single-column, it's entirely inferior to a multi-column display of the favorites in that folder. BTW, I literally can't use this browser until this is fixed, and I want to use this browser now. I've now switched, but I really need this fixed ASAP... I'm taking the time to organize my Favorites, but, it won't be enough, I have too many. See from this picture what I'm talking about.... It's SO MUCH easier to view our Favorites.1.3KViews3likes3CommentsRe: Please add "MULTI-COLUMN" Dropdown FAVORITES option...
Ya, it's an absolute MUST... I can't even find an "Extension" that does similar. Found just "one" that sort of does similar, but it's so incomplete and needs many changes that I don't even know if I can use it. Even if I do massive cleaning which I've started, I'm STILL going to have too many that I need this. I mean, over 20 years I've been using Multi-Columns, and yet Edge decides to put in a Favorites Dropdown that's like from the original Internet Explorer, not at all a "Modern" browser function. Anyway, thanks for the support. I've also updated the post image... so it shows in the post.1KViews0likes0CommentsWhy do the Homepage "Links" not "Sync" on the Mobile Android Browser?
We shouldn't have to "manually" re-enter all of our links when using the Mobile version of the browser, they should sync like everything else does... BTW, thank you for adding AdBlock Plus, heaven send for especially YouTube. Though, you should likely include a couple of the other "majors" like Ublock etc. for those who want super blocking, are fine with pages sometimes not working right, lol. Also, are there plans to add "Extension" support period? Thanks609Views0likes0CommentsRe: New feature - Selecting text will directly give an option to search on web
TheShaunSaw This is an absolutely TERRIBLE implementation... Why? Because what they should do instead is add "Drag & Drop" within Page. You highlight the text, be it a word or link, and then you just drag and drop the text or link just moving your mouse ever so slightly on the page itself, release and it opens a new tab with the Search or opening the website if it's a link, i.e. you don't have to drag all the way to the Tab Bar or use the doppy "popup" they currently have. This is SO FAST and easy, better than ANYTHING else that people try to do with browsers. I've been using browsers which have this Modern browser function for over 20 years! Why are they trying to add this "old" way of doing things to a modern browser? A "popup"... seriously?1.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?
The Setting is now GONE today using Canary.... I was using the previous page "workaround" to force the setting to show, now it won't show or work. Okay, that's weird, adding a removing it a few times now it's working again. LOL Okay again, something is weird... Now it's GONE AGAIN... LOL Alright, I looks like maybe it's NOT working in "Canary" atm anymore. However, trying the Standard Install of Edge, it DOES still work. However, I've discovered that several Edge Processes will NOT "quit" in Task Manager, and if you open the browser again as is, the setting won't show. However, Ending all the processes and it shows again.... But, this doesn't work in Canary... Canary actually closes ALL the processes, it doesn't leave any still running?4.7KViews0likes2CommentsSERIOUS PROBLEM...! Browser "Account Sign In/Out" for "Other" Devices... ACCOUNT 100% UNSECURE!!!
You should NOT be asking for a "Windows PIN" when you're trying to sign into your browser account, or access your passwords which I also noticed. This is a serious problem, because one reason I'm now wanting to start using Edge is so I can access all my browser info, Favorites etc., on OTHER computers or devices when using them, but I often may NOT have access to the "Windows OS Password" or Windows Login, so it's crazy to be asking me for the Windows PIN just to log into my Browser account, aka Microsoft login. I just tried this out on my Work Computer and it was asking for my Windows PIN, which I luckily happen to have in this case, but there will be MANY cases in which I might NOT have the Windows login for the computer I'm using. This is NOT acceptable. Edge should ask for our Account Password, NOT our Windows OS PIN or Password. Please fix this... Thanks2.5KViews0likes2CommentsRe: SERIOUS PROBLEM...! Browser "Account Sign In/Out" for "Other" Devices... ACCOUNT 100% UNSECURE!!!
leeuniverse SERIOUS PROBLEM...! #2 Browser "Account SIGN OUT" for "Other" Devices. Browser account is NOT SECURE... "Anyone" can recreate the Profile WITHOUT A PASSWORD, and they know your username aka email. This is utterly unacceptable...! Not only does "signing out" of the browser NOT protect your browser account... But even "removing your Profile" STILL allows ANYONE using that computer to entirely get into your browser account. This is absolutely CRAZY....!!! Needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY!!! I did find the "solution"... But it's a multistep process to remove this access. What happens is you associate the Microsoft Account with "Windows", so you have to. - Sign Out - Remove Browser Profile - And remove the Windows Account that's been created under the Windows Login without our permission btw. Only THEN is our browser account actually "removed" from the computer, not simply "signed out" and we are secure. This is CRAZY...! Now, just to keep my browser account secure, because many people use this computer under this login, because it's designated for security and other employees of the site, I have to completely remove a million things, and just to USE the account again on this computer, I have to do a FULL SETUP again of my profile, download and sync everything etc. There is no way to get around the forced "Windows Login Account" creation. It asks for my Windows PIN every time I recreate my profile, that is if I want to download/sync my info. Please for the love of HEAVEN this entire system needs to be reworked, it's entirely INSECURE, convoluted, not intuitive, having to track down secret settings, if people "Sign Out" or Delete their Profile, they would normally assume they are safe, BUT THEY ARE NOT...!2.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: Edge how to Always open favorites in new tab?
Yep, it and a couple of others.... There have just been other browsers that have paid attention to little conveniences like this, so I've been using them instead. For example, other than Chrome being a resource hog, I never used Chrome because they refused to add "Double-Click" to close tab, drag and drop text Search / Link Open, etc. I've used Maxthon and 360Chrome for the last near 25 years.... Maxthon was actually the first browser to have so many little browser features like the above and otherwise, it originally was called MyIE2, and was a "shell" over Internet Explorer. It was a far superior browser. It's unfortunate that they didn't go Chromium when they decided to create a standalone browser, cause they lost so much development time. Edge seems like they are willing to add features people want, like they've added Double-Click to close tab finally, Open Favorites in New Tab, the way Tabs open, etc. Oh, to give you another example, I want to use Vivaldi because it has so many features and configuration options, however like 3 seemingly little things I just can't stand. Like, I can't stand their: - Menu Button on the Left top of the page instead of on the top right as ALL other browsers have it, just can't stand it there. - Can't stand their "Ghost Favorite Icons". - Can't stand they also have the Favorites Folder Dropdown on the Favorites bar show the Favorites in a "Single scrollable Column" instead of Multi-columns. So, I think just those three things and I can't use the browser because I can't stand those things so much, I've been using better browsers in relation to those aspects for near 25 years. I just can't use something "lesser". Anyway, Edge is having a similar problem, a couple of little things, which are BIG to me, I just can't use the browser, even though it's a FAR better browser than say Maxthon currently is, same for Vivaldi. So, "little" things like this thread is about, are things I NEED fixed, so I can finally switch to a truly professional browser.25KViews0likes0Comments
