Permissions Q: Blog (visible to company) & Planner (limited access)
Trying to plan permissions for a SharePoint site OR decide to use 2 sites. I want: A Blog (read-only to everyone in the company) - currently just posting "news" articles. A Planner (write access to key people - aka my boss) Is this possible w/ a SharePoint online site? I don't want to accidentally make my Planner visible to the entire company.787Views0likes1CommentPossible to Change Default Font Colors in SharePoint Online?
I Keep Setting the Headings to Stark Black And the body text like this to a medium gray. I'd like to emphasize browse-ability on a few SharePoint pages, demonstrating a strategic-heading technique to build consumable pages for those of us who like to skim pages to get the gist of whatever boring long run-on technically-detailed sentences consume the pixels in between. But I have to set the color for Every Freaking Heading. And Every Freaking Paragraph. And it's getting annoying. Annoying enough to use capitals improperly for emphasis. Is it possible to change the default colors? Perhaps through PNP, SPO, or some other method within the legal limits of wizardry? I'd really like to showcase textual content creation that can be consumed effectively at multiple depths, and all this color changing is a real agitator. (that sentence sounds cool if you say it out loud in the voice of Tow Mater) Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!1.4KViews0likes2CommentsIdeal Formats for Transcoding On The Fly?
Per Marc's response in previous discussion, video transcoding happens on the fly. Is there an ideal upload format/bitrate/encoding/etc that helps streamline that transcoding process for faster transcoding, fewer hiccups etc? We are currently establishing some best practices for uploading videos using the new Stream.961Views0likes2CommentsRe: Lighting the Match Thumbnail: Luck or a Mockup Hack?
BUSTED!! Shame on you! Ok, well thanks for the honesty & the update. If you have hiccups w/ custom thumbnails, maybe change the automatically-generated one to like 5-seconds in or something? A lot of times that'd capture the title screen.1.2KViews0likes2CommentsThis "Font Size" tooltip is annoying. Does it serve a purpose?
I do not handle annoyance very well, and this keeps tripping me up The "Font Size" bubble is getting in the way of the font sizes underneath it. Especially in Firefox, and sometimes in other browsers. Is there a purpose? Of course I'm selecting the font size....except I can't select 14 because the thing that's telling me I'm selecting the font size isn't letting me select the font size! SharePoint has come a long way lately and I'm starting to really like it. But this font size bubble is going to institutionalize me.631Views0likes0CommentsLighting the Match Thumbnail: Luck or a Mockup Hack?
I'm trying to achieve a pleasantly and visually browse-able experience on our SharePoint video portal pages. (as you know from my pestering about custom thumbnails lately ) Kind of like the demos here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/stream/streamnew/features-new-version-stream The match thumbnail: Did Stream really randomly pick that thumbnail? Or are the thumbnails picked from like X seconds into the video, where we can create videos w/ that in mind? Or is this a preview of things to come? Your previews are more enticing than mine, and I have great envy.Solved1.2KViews0likes4CommentsDoes the Original Video Quality affect Playback or Bandwidth Used?
I'm familiar w/ YouTube's abominable compression tactics to reduce file size. As I'm using Stream (on SharePoint) I realize that behind the scenes, the original files are preserved. Cool! But wait...does that mean that the original files are streamed to the client? If so, we probably need to pursue best practices for encoding the video before uploading.Solved1.9KViews0likes3CommentsReusable Modern Web Parts (shared between pages)
I feel there's a necessary component missing from SharePoint's modern layout: Reusable/Shared web parts. Maybe there's another approach (driven by lists?) that I'm not fully thinking through. Desire: A Quick Links (or similar) section on multiple pages. When I update it once, I'd like it to update for all.8.9KViews4likes9CommentsInternal Blogging - Delve?
I'm looking for a company-wide blogging solution. The idea: If a user comes across something to share (how-to, problem/solution, tip, trick, etc (so it can be found by others in search results) they can post to their blog if they don't know where else to publish. It seems to be lacking (esp lack of subscriber/follower potential), and may no longer be under development from things I'm reading online. So I'm concerned about recommending it if it's being abandoned. Ultimately, I'm looking for a solution that enables the following scenario: User realizes he/she has knowledge to share, but doesn't know where to put it User can quickly post somewhere That somewhere is searchable through SharePoint's All Company search If you have other ideas about how to solve this, I'm interested.1.3KViews1like2CommentsCustom Text Message on Video Pages
Is there a way to have a company-wide custom message somewhere on the video page? To state something like "If this video is wildly outdated, carelessly unhelpful, or blatantly wrong, email stopuploadingcrap@contoso.com" Here's my earlier post that prompted this question. Then, the video could be forwarded to the relevant department to review.Disabling Upload *Except* for Certain Channels?
We are planning the rollout of Stream and are wondering: Can users be restricted to only upload to certain channels? In other words "Nope, you can't upload something for the entire company to see. But, you can upload to the Tips & Tricks channel...which the entire company can see." The idea is to funnel video submissions through a monitored structure for more topical moderation.Solved
