Re: Dev channel update to 90.0.803.0 is live
This is a very good point, Edge is very unusual, in that on 64 bit OS's it's a 64 bit application yet is installed in \Program Files (x86). Why is this? Is it some compatibility issue? It feels like bad practice... This executable is actually a 64 bit process : C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge Dev\Application\msedge.exe2.8KViews2likes2CommentsRe: Dev channel update to 87.0.664.8 is live
josh_bodner Hi Josh, I mean this semi flippantly but also semi seriously - you wrote this "Today, the bug that caused that behavior has been fixed, but the fix causes the exact same behavior. " Does this mean the bug is fixed or not? To me, reading it says that the bug is not fixed. Would have been handy to have proof read this, I think. Would it not be clearer to say "We've attempted a fix in this build but we've since found, it doesn't work - we're working on it further"? Deleted I hate to state the obvious, but can't Microsoft's own tools help here to trace up the process tree to find out which process is starting msedge.exe? 1) Autoruns by SysInternals might show what is autostarting it? 2) Failing that, can't you use SysInternal's Process Explorer to see what the parent process of msedge is, and trace through that what process started it (going up the process tree)? (Or Process Hacker or other similar tools)? 3) Alternatively Process Monitor and/or SysMon by SysInternals can be configured to monitor processes starting up, and that can of course be setup to run during boot etc. to catch an early process launch? josh_bodner Arguably much more important than Surfing etc. It would be useful if you can clarify if this build is vulnerable to the zero day exploit that Google were recently rushing out patches for in Chrome? Can you clarify please? josh_bodner Has the release of Edge Dev 78.0.268.1 been pulled? My Windows 8.1 Edge system won't update from 78.0.262.0 to 78.0.268.1 - it says there are no updates. If I grab the Edge Dev installer and try to reinstall/update that way, I still end up with 78.0.262.0. Thus I'm wondering if Edge Dev 78.0.268.1 exists/has been pulled? If so, is it due to the fact it was unsigned? Mike21KViews0likes6CommentsRe: How to exactly use IE mode on Edge canary?
Mixxxter What I (and others I think) have noticed is that the IE Mode broke somewhere between 77.0.211 and 77.0.218. It's broken on 218 (Dev) and 223 (Canary) on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, setting the flags as before, no longer shows the option on More Tools. It's not clear to me whether this is a breakage, or that they have silently disabled the feature (and annoyingly not told anyone!) yet? Mike3.6KViews0likes6Comments
