AV1 not working and dropping frames on YT videos
Noticed this problem a few days ago. AV1 stopped working in Edge at some point for me. No YT video plays in AV1, but I can open the same video in Firefox and it plays in the AV1 codec. Also no dropped frames in Firefox. The frame drops in Edge seem to occur every 1,000 frames or so.Solved3.6KViews5likes4CommentsDropped frames in YouTube videos not encoded at 60 FPS
I've noticed that Edge is dropping frames seemingly randomly on any YouTube video that is not encoded at 60 FPS. I tested a 4K 50 FPS video. Playing the 4K 50 FPS video in Edge results in 54 dropped frames. Firefox had 0 dropped frames. This can be repeated on any video that is not encoded in 60 FPS and will result in Edge dropping frames. This is using the regular release version of Edge 96 on Windows 11 pro x641.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Samsung Internet Sync With Edge
So what the OP wants is possible. Just install the "Samsung Internet" extension from the Google chrome web store (just google chrome extensions). Then once the extension is installed in Edge, just click on it, sign into your samsung account, and tell it to synch your "chrome" bookmarks to samsung internet. When it's done syncing you will find a new folder in Samsung internet bookmarks called "Chrome Bookmarks" but it will have your Edge bookmarks instead.34KViews4likes1CommentRe: Start Microsoft Edge quickly with startup boost
reddtimes Well as someone already pointed out, Edge sadly inherated a bad rep from Micrsoft's previous browser Internet Explorer, and as well as the old Edge. With the old Edge a lot of people gave it a try and ended up running into something that made them quit using it (I remember performance being poor for a while, it didn't have the gigantic extension support of new edge etc). Also Chrome has such a large market share, it's hard to break into a market (like the browser market) when one product has SO much market share already. I think as time goes on and more people have versions of Windows 10 with the new Edge pre installed that will help a bit. Overall whenever I look online about Edge the repsonse I see to new Edge is 99 percent positive. The people that give it a chance almost all seem to really like it. It's just getting people to give it a chance that's gonna be the hard part for Microsoft. As for what someone said about Android integration. I have Edge as my default browser on both Windows and Android. Been that way for a long time now. I can't think of anything I miss from having Chrome as my Android browser. Actually before Edge I still wasn't using Chrome on my Android phone. I was using Samsung's Browser on Android, then moved to Edge when the chromium based version came out of beta. But that person may have been talking about the fact that Chrome comes pre installed as the default browser on Android so large majority of users don't bother looking for and installing a different browser. That's a def disadvantage Edge has on the mobile side. But those that do seem to like it, it has nearly a 5 star rating in the google play store. It all syncs perfectly, handing off to my PC is super easy (tap a button on my phone and the same site opens in Edge on my PC). Plus Chrome on Android has no support for extensions, now neither dose Edge on Android but it dose at least come with a Ad Blocker built in. Something you'd never see Google do with Chrome on Android since advertising is how they make a lot of if not most of their money.6KViews2likes1CommentRe: Top Feedback Summary for February 11
HotCakeX I know it's a matter of opinion and a different case for each person but I def agree. One of the things I love about Chrome is being able to sign in with my Google account on a new install and have all of my extesnsions start installing, and even appear in the same order (up on the right side of the address bar). History is something I never really even think about. I rarely use history, instead get to websites by using either the address bar and typing the first few letters or the bookmarks bar. So I'm really glad to see that extensions syncing is coming this month. I wonder if it will cover extensions installed from the Chrome Web Store though? I got all the extensions I could that I use from the Edge Extension Store of course but there are just a few not in the Edge store I had to get from Chrome Web Store. Mainly Nord VPN extension, and FrankerFaceZ (a extension for enhancing the twitch.tv site).18KViews0likes1CommentRe: Look at your Search Engine settings... are you using the new 'Google-Bing' search engine? lol
Deleted I just got this issue as well with 78.0.245.0. As soon as I told Edge to restart to finish updating it started happening. I've tried removing all search engines, going back to google doing a search there so it shows up as a option in Edge again and it still uses bing when I use the address bar to search. Not a huge deal, I know to expect problems since I'm on the canary branch. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. Edit: Going into settings and adding Google search manually using this url https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=%s Gets it working again for me, so I'll just use that workaround for now.11KViews2likes3CommentsRe: Edge Canary 77.0.211.0 always on top, dropdown menus not functioning
Drew1903 Like I said I'm fine with Canary. I very rarely have a issue with it. I've had two issues since its release. Both fixed in less than two days. Besides it takes <30 seconds for me to switch my default browser when a bug like this occurs. So I'll stick with Canary till release. I like testing the latest updates, and fully understand the risk in terms of stability. Just like I fully understand to expect issues when I occasionally hop onto the Window 10 Insiders ring. But as I said Edge has been surprisingly solid even with me using the Canary branch.1.7KViews0likes1CommentRe: Edge Canary 77.0.211.0 always on top, dropdown menus not functioning
MarcoMangiante Oh I know. I don't mind going back and forth. I completely understand issues like this are going to happen when using the canary channel of a browser that isn't even in a beta release status yet :P mainly just came to make sure it wasn't just me experiencing this.4KViews0likes1CommentRe: Edge Canary 77.0.211.0 always on top, dropdown menus not functioning
Came here to see if there was a post about this. I've had to go back to Chrome for now because Edge won't let any other window appear over it. Windows 10 1903 and Edge Canary version 77.0.211.0. Hope it gets fixed soon.4.1KViews0likes6CommentsRe: [Feature] How can I change tab with mouse when full screen?
Just wanna say I'd love to see this added as well. Firefox is the only other browser I know of that will auto show the tabs if you mouse to the top of the screen while in fullscreen mode, and then hide them when you move away. Would be cool to have this in the new Edge, or at least the option.4.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Microsoft Edge Dev Crashing
Stephan Swinford I'm having crashing issues all of sudden now as well. I've been using the canary branch of Edge since it released day one. Not a single issue till now. I've found a way to reproduce what is causing it to crash for me. I have youtube bookmarked in my favorites bar (favorite bar is turned on/set to show), if i go to the address bar and type youtube.com and hit enter Edge crashes instantly. If I remove YouTube from my bookmarks and do the exact same thing it dose not crash. Have no clue why that would be. Same thing with any website that is in my bookmark bar. If its in the bookmarks bar and I type it in the address bar and hit enter edge crashes. I've done a re install, wiped history/cache etc. This didn't start it seems until version 77.0.193.07.1KViews0likes4Comments
