Re: Opening history menu is slow
Every chromium panel (favourites, collection, history, side search) is slow and looks like this is a very old and serious problem with how the browser renders them. This explains that the chromium itself uses something like a context menu to display favourites but gives a little hope. It is unlikely that the situation will change unless only the developers have an ace up their sleeve and rewrite how these forms are rendering.1.3KViews1like0CommentsRe: Discussion - Updating our interface with Fluent touches
Microsoft products became looks much more unfinished after adopting round corners. Every app became a mess where old guidelines are superimposed on new ones, where thin frames on average 1080p look like from the NES era. Every previous UI update wasn't fully completed so I guess this will not be completed too and apps which not be migrated to PWA will stay like this.4.1KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Edge 84 stable released and still No option to set custom picture for the new tab page !?!
I guess it will come relatively soon. I have no luck to get even announced features without significant delay but custom background option appeared few canary builds ago for the first time.1.5KViews1like0CommentsRe: Discussion - Updating our interface with Fluent touches
I guess on some point UX guidelines will be rewritten to match the current state of chromium-edge. Round corners were announced after adopting chromium, despite they break Reveal effect and in many apps it was replaced with simple hover light+shadow. Acryl also cost too much on mobile devices and maybe it also will be removed at least for title bars as it was once with win8. I didn't see it on win10x demo.12KViews2likes1CommentRe: Extension icons in Edge Settings menu (Feature or Bug)?
This is pretty normal at least for chromium-based browsers. When extension icons do not fit on the toolbar then they appear in the setting menu where you can access its menu. It's not a very elegant solution but it's working. On Chromium canary developer finally added extension panel on the toolbar but IDK if Edge's developers will adopt it.2.7KViews1like0CommentsRe: New "To open this link select app" icon appear in the address bar?
vineydhiman When you install some site as PWA you can send tab from browser to this app due the icon. Similar to the smartphone experience, when opening youtube, twitter etc link runs the installed dedicated application.896Views0likes0CommentsUsability problems with pinned tabs and pdf
I am using them quite extensively and maybe not only I but it's always kinda clunky experience on chromium-based browsers: 1. If you open two browser's windows and accidentally close the first one - you'll lose your pinned tabs 2. You can add pdf file as a pinned tab but it doesn't recover last opened page after reopening the edge 3. Collections don't work as the backup for the pinned tabs because they only save tabs with sites but not with pdf 4. Аfter forced browser closure you can only pray on recovery session function, if something goes wrong you'll lose your pinned tabs again829Views0likes0CommentsImage of day doesn't work on canary, dev and stable build
On previous week picture on NTP for some reason was reset to default and doesn't update from that time. Changing the region and clicking on off\on does not change anything. Also how to run surf game? What's new page is promoting it but Dev and Canary show URL error on edge://surf/1.1KViews2likes3CommentsRe: Dev channel update to 80.0.361.5 is live
The biggest problem with Fluent Design on the current day - it isn't something determined at least for the public. The first apps on win10 had acrylic transparency, strict angles for fields and buttons, and bevel highlighting, current "Fluent Design" doesn't have them at all and apps after recent updates lost these distinctive features. So we can't speak about any consistency especially with archaic win 8 file explorer as an example of future proof planning which got on win10 only not so good dark theme and updated search. Other problem, yellow folders aren't something that community frequently ask. We asked for Acryl, for good dark theme which doesn't flash with white when form still loading content end etc. So looks like this was someone internal desition, we didn't see any poll confirms this. Obviously Edgium was designed as monochromic, and IMHO a good manner to change something without conferring is to give the user a choice. Yellow as default, monochrome as optional it isn't something special or harmful for the product. Everyone knows that more than 80% of users always use the default setting anyway. I noticed an interesting thing, the colour of the edge's window changes when it becomes inactive. At first, I thought it's tint based but looks like the inactive window is always blue with some saturation\value tweaks. On older builds the only value of the window colour was change. This is a bug or feature? This isn't typical behaviour on Windows 10, an inactive window there lost transparency and become black\white according to the theme.608Views0likes1CommentRe: Yellow folders are back!!
Dennis5mile Looks pretty meh. Yellow folders are a very archaic thing, I find very useful in Unreal Engine 4 option to mark folders with custom colour and I wish file explorer and other apps support this feature. I guess little skeleton icon can be hardly recognisable for some people but filling icons with yellow without any customization option looks too lame for me.9.7KViews2likes4CommentsRe: ETA for ARM / Snapdragon support of Edge Chromium
Charbax Neowin published an article yesterday where ARM64 build was mentioned: https://www.neowin.net/news/microsofts-new-edge-will-ship-without-arm64-support-history-sync-and-extension-sync "The reason for the lack of ARM64 support is a blocking bug that is exclusive to the ARM architecture. Microsoft did indeed plan to announce support for the chip architecture at its October 2 event alongside of the ARM-powered Surface Pro X, but it just wasn't ready, and it's still not ready. ARM64 support is definitely coming though, just in case anyone was worried." I guess there is some windows related bug with ARM64 chromium, search by keywords shown this https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=8934606.1KViews1like0CommentsRe: is this new logo for edge chromium?
KangjunHeo Considering a strange recent loan from Google Material in MS Fluent, when Acryl, Reveal Highlight and Borders removing from the apps and replacing with some ugly inconsistent solution often with round corners, we have no power there. Some guys in MS decided In order to defeat Android, you must look like Android. I guess new logo was designed as a sing that new edge is less corporate and more "fun" for the new users and this is pretty reasonable but disappointingly for die-hard edge users who liked it's minimalistic and slick look even with freaking out technical features. New logo inherited nothing when nobody asked about that. Ironically people asked about radical re-design many years ago because Edge's logo was similar to notorious Internet Explorer.16KViews2likes0CommentsRe: is this new logo for edge chromium?
Deleted As heir of Internet Explorer and Edge, it looks terrible and lost it's strict and definitive style, you even hardly can see e in this logo. But when you put it in play store it becomes not great, not terrible. Similar to Firefox and Opera. And I guess it was designed for this purpose.43KViews3likes2CommentsRe: What's the purpose of collections when you have bookmarks?
I'm using collections as Pinterest for everything. They are very helpful when you seek information for a certain task and when the job is done you can easily remove the collection. Bookmarks managing isn't so easy. Bookmarks work as site list, not as content snips.30KViews2likes0Comments
