Re: Top Feedback Summary for September
There is a BLOCK option however it is experimental and needs to be enabled via the edge://flags area and look for "Show block option in autoplay settings". This then adds the BLOCK option to the Media Autoplay setting however I still have some web site playing unwanted videos so I suspect it is still being worked on.7.4KViews1like1CommentRe: Discussion: Edge displays in an unexpected language
When Edge is first installed it should pick up the default system language and prioritise that. I may be wrong but it seems the default language is English USA which tries to put the letter Z where S should be which is real annoying. I have had to manually change the language setting for Edge which I believe is unnecessary unless for some reason I want my PC to be in one language and my browser in another. I can't think of a reason why I'd want that.38KViews0likes1CommentRe: Not signing into the browser? Why or why not, we would love to better understand!
Elliot Kirk Why would I want to sign into a browser? I have two PC's, my work one and my home one. I like to keep them separate so syncing between them is totally undesirable. It happened once by accident and I had to spend ages breaking the connection and getting rid of work favorites from my home PC. So what other benefit do I get from signing in? I'm trying to reduce the number of apps I need to sign into, not increase them.7.9KViews1like1CommentRe: Dev channel update to 80.0.334.2 is live
josh_bodner Thanks for finally adding the ability to sort favourites. However the process was not exactly intuitive like it is in the old Edge. In old Edge I could right click on the pop down favourites list. Whereas in the Chromium version I have to go to manage favourites and then search for exactly the right place to right click. So better than no sorting but no where near as good as the old Edge ... or even IE.21KViews4likes0CommentsRe: Clearing Browsing Data on Close
Eric_Lawrence After some further experience especially with Edge for Android I'm starting to think the problem may actually be associated with the keyboard being used. The in-private mode on Edge for Android does not seem to clear out the keyboard data and as a result the words used during an in-private session appear on the keyboard as top suggested words to start your next typing session. Very obvious with SwiftKey keyboard. I did seem to experience similar behaviour on my desktop browser but not to the same extent.19KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Clearing Browsing Data on Close
Elliot Kirk I'd like to see an option for Clear Search Strings. I've noticed that search strings previously used are coming through as top search suggestions. This is true in the standard browsing session but more concerning is that search strings used during InPrivate browsing are also coming through as top search suggestions is the standard session. So private is really 100% private. 😒21KViews0likes2CommentsRe: UI
IrinaL Following on from the SAVE / SAVE AS discussion I'd also like the ability to have some file types simply open even if the default action is to open the save prompt. For example an Outlook calendar appointment (.ICS file), does not need to be saved. It would be nice if simply got added to my Outlook calendar. Similarly with my remote desktop link (.RDP file), I don't want to save a copy every time I connect to the server, I'd just like it to open. I'm sure there are other file types like this so my suggestion is that under the SAVE options there is a sub category where we can change the default behaviour for specified file types like this. Of course having the OPEN option displayed alongside the SAVE/SAVE AS button as per EDGE ORIGINAL would work as well and seems to have been requested by plenty of other people in this thread.4.8KViews1like0CommentsRe: When can we expect Edge video and audio features to be pored to the new Edge?
sambul95 You are right however remember that some of us here are approaching this from a sales point of view. Web sites like http://www.html5test.com are useful to us to get a quick and simple comparison of browser functionality. I often get asked Why should use Edge vs Chrome? By using the results from this web site I can clearly demonstrate that Edge has better audio & video playback which is great for anyone who like hi-def experience. Edge has better web payment support which is key for anyone who wants to set up a store. Edge has better device orientation and motion sensing which has got to be better for a games player. This new Chromium Edge has lost all those advantages and now looks like a repackaging of Chrome. This now makes it hard to answer that question Why should use Edge vs Chrome? I believe Microsoft understand the importance of these features and it would be nice but possibly unrealistic to have a timeline of features coming to Chromium Edge as it makes it easier from a sales perspective to promote the new future. As for the test site I used I'm always keen to hear from anyone who can tell me if the reports it generates are accurate and worth my time. Over the past year or two I have certainly found it a useful way to gauge where the development focus has been for the different browser vendors and that at least has been worth my time.1.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: We're Listening!
Bradcore Elliot Kirk I agree the favourites area needs sorting. In fact the whole user experience seems to be a backwards step and it would be nice to sort those frustrations out to encourage me and other to use it more. As it is I find I need to keep going back to Edge just to have things work how I expect them to work. Examples include: * Favourites bar. Make it work like previous Edge * File download. Default setting should be Ask where to save * File download. Some files should just open rather than saving to disk- eg. .ICS files.3.7KViews1like7CommentsRe: When can we expect Edge video and audio features to be pored to the new Edge?
sambul95 I made the suggest FLAG change and according to http://html5test.com/ this has not made any difference to the audio and video playback options detected. Comparison showing differences is attached.1.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: When can we expect Edge video and audio features to be pored to the new Edge?

sambul95 Can someone give me a basic explanation of the difference between FLAGS and SETTINGS. FLAGS looks be be an messy, unstructured way to mess about with a browsers functionality so I'm wondering why you would use that approach rather than the usual SETTINGS menu.1.8KViews0likes0CommentsWhen can we expect Edge video and audio features to be pored to the new Edge?
I was wondering when some of the nice audio and video features of Edge will be ported to the new Chromium Edge. For example features such as Dolby digital, audio & video selection, HTTP Live Streaming, webcam access, etc1.9KViews2likes6Comments
