Re: ISSUE: Adding or changing links is impacted on my end
I have not used a different browser. How does it work for you if you add a link and wait a little 2-3 before proceed with editing or post / reply? Just a theory: I could imagine that this delay is caused in the backend. As links and words are checked. I have tested two type of links in this message and what's also unclear why sometimes it adds a external link sign and sometimes it does not. I can imagine that the sign indicates the link will leave the platform.12Views0likes0CommentsRe: Unable to verify phone on MS 365 or Azure
Enter any phone number at the moment. The wizard has issues with short numbers. They assume everyone is living in the US. If you have a shorter phone number you get stuck. You can change the number later in your (billing) profile. Please reply with tagging me or mark as solved if that helped.34Views0likes0CommentsRe: ISSUE: Adding or changing links is impacted on my end
Thank you for your reply Allen. The first issue with the link rendering, for me, happens on PC and likewise on Android using Edge. Please let me know if the recording attached is helpful to get an understanding of it. Appreciate your hint about the ideas board. Wasn't aware about it.31Views1like0CommentsRe: SMB Bandwidth Limit for VM Live Migration Category.
Deepak_Kathula Network ATC would limit the SMB Live Migration traffic to 50% of the available bandwidth. Me and other find this overly aggressive. DCB QoS (RDMA) will handle that storage traffic is ALWAYS PRIORITIZED over any other traffic. I cannot resonate with the 50% default, when the storage traffic is non-converged, as in most of the S2D, Azure Local Clusters. Please have a read (TLDR) and especially recommendations below. Does this help you?21Views0likes0CommentsRe: ISSUE: Adding or changing links is impacted on my end
it turns out that one has to wait after adding, not moving or typing anything a link is a good solution. in rare cases when I try to add a link I get confronted with this stuck overlay and the crucial part below is missing. It is not reproducible. if this happens (unused) there is a misconfiguration with the intents. Enabling an override to avoid the renaming is not helpful. The idea is that Network ATC will take care about the Names of the cluster networks. If there is a physical error it will even rename the network accordingly. download WAC and check the Network ATC settings in a cluster is the easiest approach, PowerShell aside13Views0likes0CommentsBLOG: Windows Server / Azure Local keeps setting Live Migration to 1 - here is why
Affected products: Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2025 Azure Local 21H2, Azure Local 22H2, Azure Local 23H2 Network ATC Dear Community, I have seen numerous reports from customers running Windows Server 2022 servers or Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI) that Live Migration settings are constantly changed to 1 per Hyper-V Host, as mirrored in PowerShell and Hyper-V Host Settings. The customer previously set the value to 4 via PowerShell, so he could prove it was a different value at a certain time. First, I didn't step into intense research why the configuration altered over time, but the stumbled across it, quite accidently, when fetching all parameters of Get-Cluster. According to an article a LCU back in September 2022 changed the default behaviour and allows to specify the live migrations at cluster level. The new live migration default appears to be 1 at cluster level and this forces to change the values on the Hyper-V nodes to 1 accordingly. In contrast to the commandlet documentation, the value is not 2, which would make more sense. Quite unknown, as not documented in the LCU KB5017381 itself, but only referenced in the documentation for the PowerShell commandlet Get-Cluster. Frankly, none of the aren't areas customers nor partners would check quite regularly to spot any of such relevant feature improvements or changes. "Beginning with the 2022-09 Cumulative Update, you can now configure the number of parallel live migrations within a cluster. For more information, see KB5017381 for Windows Server 2022 and KB5017382 for Azure Stack HCI (Azure Local), version 21H2. (Get-Cluster).MaximumParallelMigrations = 2 The example above sets the cluster property MaximumParallelMigrations to a value of 2, limiting the number of live migrations that a cluster node can participate in. Both existing and new cluster nodes inherit this value of 2 because it's a cluster property. Setting the cluster property overrides any values configured using the Set-VMHost command." Network ATC in Azure Local 22H2+ and Windows Server 2025+: When using Network ATC in Windows Server 2025 and Azure Local, it will set the live migration to 1 per default and enforce this across all cluster nodes. Disregarding the Cluster Settings above or Local Hyper-V Settings. To change the number of live migration you can specify a cluster-wide override in Network ATC. Conclusion: The default values for live migration have been changes. The global cluster setting or Network ATC forcing these down to the Hyper-V hosts based on Windows Server 2022+/ Azure Local nodes and ensure consistency. Previously we thought this would happen after using Windows Admin Center (WAC) when opening the WAC cluster settings, but this was not the initial cause. Finding references: Later the day, as my interest grew about this change I found an official announcement. In agreement to another article, on optimizing live migrations, the default value should be 2, but for some reason at most customers, even on fresh installations and clusters, it is set to 1. TLDR: 1. Stop bothering on changing the Livemigration setting manually or PowerShell or DSC / Policy. 2. Today and in future train your muscle memory to change live migration at cluster level with Get-Cluster, or via Network ATC overrides. These will be forced down quite immediately to all nodes and will be automatically corrected if there is any configuration drift on a node. 3. Check and set the live migration value to 2 as per default and follow these recommendations: Optimizing Hyper-V Live Migrations on an Hyperconverged Infrastructure | Microsoft Community Hub Optimizing your Hyper-V hosts | Microsoft Community Hub 4. You can stop blaming WAC or overeager colleagues for changing the LM settings to undesirable values over and over. Starting with Windows Admin Center (WAC) 2306, you can set the Live Migration Settings at cluster level in Cluster > Settings. Happy Clustering! 😀ISSUE: Adding or changing links is impacted on my end
Hi again, so far I am seeing on my PC and mobile that adding links does not work correctly anymore. One can add a link like Tech Community Discussion | Microsoft Community Hub but selecting a word and adding a link causes issues with MTC to render this link. either it does or it does nothing. And when link on a word is rendered then and you click on this, it will not open anything. HTML indicates it is a correct link, though. if you wait several seconds things will happen, if you move the focus or hit publish too early things go wrong. See video in the attachment.109Views0likes5CommentsRe: How do I move Recovery Partition Windows Server?
Hi Mandaoy, for Windows Server if this is a VM there are some tricks. Usually for Windows Server 3rd party tools are pretty expensive and a per instance licensing. So you might want to grab one license on a WS or Windows Client jump host, and attach the VHDX in question. Move and unattach VHDX. The question I have is: Why moving it? it is at the end of the physical drive and belongs there. Here's a blog of mine about WinREBLOG: Guidance for Windows Recovery partition (WinRE) patching and why you would need it | Microsoft Community Hub, plus additional information in comments below.25Views0likes0CommentsWord and linked based filtering in new techcommunity
Dear Microsoft MTC Team, it has become extremely hard to help users here when many random things are now blocked. This true for a couple of words and even links to some Microsoft pages. In the threads some noted that they started support requests (SR) with Microsoft. Who have done so? What's your SR number? What was the outcome? I could try to get things moving. Not sure if the issue can be fixed. Thanks for sharing!310Views0likes1CommentRe: When is Network Profile Issue for Domain Controllers going to be at least acknowledged?
JamfSlayer the feedback from Wes808 that we have two different issues here is something that I accept. Also his claim that each of these issues are long standing. This does NOT mean a thing, customers of mine were not affected by this. No mattter they used VMXNet3, Hardware NICs or Hyper-V NICs So just tried to find the common ground. What I am searching in spanning tree? When you startup a physical machine with Windows Server (Core) it can bootup the services that quickly, esp. on NVMe based storage that the network is no ready yet at the time, waiting for the link to come to forwarding state. For VMs this should not happen. Their links are usually behind virtual switches and then this would rather affect all VMs not just a single one, or specific one like a DC. I never said it is a solution but called it remediation, very clearly. In a different thread Wes and someone else debated about NLA is related or not. Some reports say the issue is gone with DHCP but not with Static IP would make sense, as with DHCP there is a change happening and new discovery, while static IP will just check once at startup. Of course it lacks sense and disagrees with best practices of using DHCP for a Domain Controllers NIC.8Views0likes2CommentsRe: RAM Memory Leak Issue
Please mind that WS 2016 is out of mainstream support. It's not easy to get reliable support here. If your licensing allows, in-place upgrade to 2022 or 2025, then it's easier to open a support ticket. Also try to use the clean boot procedere with msconfig to check if it's really the cause of the OS.99Views0likes0CommentsRe: How to create Manjaro bootable usb on Windows OS?
Sideny_Strouth download the Manjaro ISO load it with rufus and create the bootable. Mind the Linux OS requires GPT / Secure Boot. Mind you require a free partition or at best a seperate physical drive. You can then select between booting Linux or Windows in Windows RE or BIOS (UEFI) boot menu.94Views0likes0Comments
