Re: AVD with FSLogix - profiles not loading
Are the FSLogix profiles in an Azure File share? If so, is the storage account where the Azure File share resides, joined to AD domain? Maybe someone has deleted or moved the storage account object in AD. You could try rejoining the storage account to the domain if you've confirmed NTFS and share permissions are correct.549Views0likes1CommentRe: Azure Virtual Desktop - Black Screens on logins - What we've tried so far
Digital_UppercutA Have you installed the October CU Preview (KB5045594)? If so and still an issue then check if the affected host(s) have any MS updates installed in September or October? If there are, uninstall them (especially KB5046400 and KB5044029) and pause updates. That's been the 'fix' in my experience with black screens and MS apps (mainly Outlook and OneDrive) not connecting, just using the KIR was not enough.2.4KViews2likes34CommentsRe: Azure Virtual Desktop - Black Screens on logins - What we've tried so far
Installing KB5045594 seems to have resolved the black screen issue for most of my host pools. However for one host pool today, users had Outlook and OneDrive connection issues even after installing KB5045594 (although no more black screen). Installed latest version of FSlogix but didn't help. I ended up uninstalling KB5046400 and KB5044029 and after a reboot no one had Outlook or OneDrive connection issues anymore. Can't say for sure which of those KB's was causing the issue, maybe host just needed another reboot?! but that's another host pool working again.. until MS breaks it again.4.3KViews1like39CommentsRe: Azure Virtual Desktop - Black Screens on logins - What we've tried so far
Same issues here with a Windows 10 host pool. Replaced with a new Windows 11 host pool (same VM SKUs) and no issues since. Far from ideal 'solution' though, but I have found Windows 11 AVD hosts to be a lot more stable for our customers, very few issues reported from our customers using Windows 11 host pools compared to Windows 10 host pools. Edit: To clarify, none of my hosts are enrolled in Intune. All policies set via GPO.6.9KViews0likes7CommentsRe: Azure Virtual Desktop - Black Screens on logins - What we've tried so far
Thanks for the heads up. Another dodgy update by MS! I assume this broken update has been released to the broad update channel? I would forgive MS somewhat if the broken update was only released to the pre-release or preview channel, but not the broad channel. It does feel like the issue I was having on my old Win10 host pool with certain apps not running, black screens, lock ups etc, but I have no hosts enrolled in Intune, AVD can be bad enough without throwing Intune into the mix! All policies for my hosts (Win10 and Win11 host pools), including Defender settings, are set via GPO.6.2KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Move an existing AVD session host to a different Host Pool
TimlowennaWere these hosts deployed from an image? If so and the image has been kept up-to-date, it would be much simpler to just deploy new hosts to the new host pool using the image. If for whatever reason you don't have an image, during a maintenance window, you can remove a host from the pool and then sysprep this VM and capture a new image. You can then use this image to deploy hosts to the new pool (and to redeploy the host you removed from the current pool).2.9KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Move an existing AVD session host to a different Host Pool
If you have an image, you can just deploy a new host to the new pool using the image. Otherwise, you can remove a host from the pool and then use the instructions here to add them to the new pool: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/add-session-hosts-host-pool?tabs=portal%2Cgui#register-session-hosts-to-a-host-pool3.4KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Access Denied when trying to detach FSlogix profile disk
Jeff_Paulsen I've not had any issues with this since the latest FSLogix version was installed on the hosts. It does list that the update fixes a deadlock issue, so hopefully that was the issue and fix (it did feel like it was an FSLogix bug, just a shame it took over a year for it to be resolved.).3.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Remote App presenting the apps together as if it was in the Web client
bmartindcs Just a suggestion, try downloading the latest WVD client from here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/connect-windows-7-10 You might be using the Remote Desktop client that has been downloaded from the MS store (the icons look very similar).1.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: Default Printer in WVD
I had this issue a few months ago, where printers deployed through Group Policy only appeared several seconds after users logged on, meaning their default printer would be change. Not that it probably helps, but the only way I could resolve it was to deploy the printers locally on the hosts (which is rubbish, but a least it worked). The printers strangely also never showed when going into Devices and Printers in Control Panel, yet were all visiible when going to File > Print within an application! Is that something you're experiencing as well?18KViews0likes7CommentsRe: Creating an image from existing WVD host?
Soo Kuan TeoBecause I have a single host which changes have been made to and the image used for the initial deployment is out of date (not ideal I know). So I would like to create an image from this host and deploy a new host (actually deploy multiple hosts).1.2KViews0likes0CommentsCreating an image from existing WVD host?
I understand it's best to create an image first and then deploy it as a host, but can anyone confirm if it's possible to create an image from an existing WVD host? And if so, what the steps are? Is it a case of removing the host from the host pool, doing a snapshot, sysprep it and then capture? Is there anything that needs to be cleaned up first before doing a sysprep? Would I need to uninstall the WVD Agent and WVD Boot Loader from the VM before the sysprep? thanks,1.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Mac OS Client - Broken for WVD
To add a workspace by using an email address you need to add a DNS record to your domain used for email, as described here: https://ucnme.wordpress.com/2020/04/22/azure-wvd-how-to-configure-email-discovery-to-subscribe-for-rds-feed/ and here in the official MS documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/rds-email-discovery Alternatively you can enter the feed url instead of the email address in the client: https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/api/arm/feeddiscovery or https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/api/feeddiscovery/webfedddiscovery.aspx (for WVD classic)5.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Basic auth / redirect clipboard without drives / controlling logout timings of subscription
Not sure why the 'Don't redirect any drives' option doesn't work, but try changing the advanced properties to drivestoreredirect:0 or in the GUI option, change to manually enter drive letters and enter 0.2.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Adding Session host image question
Andrew Harrover I'm not sure how the image is the same but the software is missing. However, you might want to look at storing your images in a Shared Image Gallery. When you deploy a new host it will use the latest version of the image from the gallery. You would then just need to update the image and add it to the gallery as a higher version.1.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: WVD Issue -Explorer Constantly Crashing and Restarting
Dale HayterYes they seem like a good idea in theory and it would be nice to split out some data from the profile container. I can only assume there are issues with them working properly in a Windows 10 multi-session environment, otherwise it would be nice to hear from Microsoft as to why they don't recommend using them. In future WVD deployments, I'm just going to keep FSlogix settings as minimal as possible, I think that's the safest approach!8.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: WVD Issue -Explorer Constantly Crashing and Restarting
Dale HayterThat's interesting you should mention that, as I've had another intermittent issue with FSlogix container disks not detaching when users sign out (profiles are stored in Azure Files share, standard tier). I think Office containers are the cause of that, as so far I've not had the issue occur when disabling them. It's a shame Microsoft only mentioned it's best practice to disable Office containers a few months after WVD went GA (but they don't specifically state why...), as I think they are the cause of quite a few issues.8.5KViews0likes2CommentsRe: WVD Issue -Explorer Constantly Crashing and Restarting
Lee_E The OneDrive issue was where an error would state 'OneDrive cannot connect to Windows'. The error has 2 options 'Try again' (which does nothing) and 'Download files' (which downloads everything in OneDrive). If you then go into OneDrive settings, the Files on demand option would be missing. I logged the issue with Microsoft and they provided me with a hotfix for FSlogix which seemed to fix the problem. It's worth noting there is also a public preview build (2009) for FSlogix, so you might want to try that (otherwise contact MS to get the hotfix).18KViews0likes5Comments
