Re: Surface Hub Reverts to Skype Mode
This behavior can be observed when Teams is trying to connect to Office 365 but unable to do so. You'll usually see this when the device wakes up from sleep if getting back on the network is slower than the Teams app attempt to sign in. To work around this behavior, you can switch to Teams Mode 2, or update to the Windows 10 Team 2020 Update where this behavior doesn't exist.4.5KViews0likes2CommentsRe: A new Surface Hub template is available to customize your Surface Hub’s Meetings Auto-Response!
alexcrmiller "A Surface Hub Tour" app was removed from the Store and the factory OS image for Surface Hub before Surface Hub 2S began shipping. Not only did the app itself require updates but the backend service driving it also required updates. Now that the Tips app is available within the user experience, customers are recommended to use that.2.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Surface Hub 2S Files and Server Question
Surface Hub will NOT be able to access files stored on a shared folder or a UNC path. Surface Hub WILL be able to access files located on a web server or a SharePoint website. To sum it up, Windows Explorer on Surface Hub won't allow access to files not stored locally or on a USB thumb drive. Files can be accessed via the Edge browser (for files shared on a website or SharePoint), or (natively) via OneDrive for Business.2.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Future of Windows 10 Team version 1703
Daniel Hudson "Windows 10, version 1703 has reached end of service for all editions. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10. Surface Hub devices remain in support. Starting on November 12, 2019, updates for Windows 10, version 1703 will be available only for Surface Hub devices. Update information and Surface Hub known issues will be listed on this page." https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4525245/windows-10-update-kb45252452.8KViews1like0CommentsRe: Surface Hub 2S Files and Server Question
Hi Christian_Chavez, Surface Hub cannot access files over UNC paths. It can access Files stored on SharePoint or a web server, both on-premises and online. Surface Hub supports common Office file types, and additional file types may be supported if you have an app for those files. It does not support executables of any kind. Surface Hub supports n-1 versions of Skype for Business Server and Exchange Server, which puts Exchange 2010 in the non-supported list.2.5KViews1like2CommentsRe: WSUS Products and Classification Settings for Surface Hub (Generation 1)
BVK-iv0184 There is no specific classification for Windows 10 Team Edition. Surface Hub will get updates like any other Windows 10 OS as described in this blog. Note that the apps on Surface Hub are being updated from the store directly. Also, make sure that Windows Defender on Surface Hub receives the required security updates.2.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Surface Hub - Azure AD automated enrollment
Hi Jakob Schaefer, You can use the Windows Configuration Designer to create a PPKG file that will automatically name the Surface Hub and join in to your Azure AD tenant. If you have Intune Autoenrollment enabled, the Surface Hub will register itself in Intune during OOBE as part of the Azure AD join process. So basically all you'll need is a USB stick with the PPKG file and the CSV file to choose the device names from.13KViews1like0CommentsRe: Microsoft Teams support now available for Surface Hub
Hi Myles Taylor , When installing Teams on Surface Hub it will not appear on the apps list, but you can see it under 'installed apps' in the settings app. In mode 0, you should be able to join scheduled Teams meetings for which the Hub was invited. The default Skype UI will be replaced by the Teams UI when joining the meeting and you'll automatically join the meeting. For this to happen, you must also make sure that the account you're using is licensed for Microsoft Teams - the UI will fail if the account isn't licensed.7.6KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Can edge favorites or mapped drives be saved on hub ?
Hi Mike, Mapping drives is impossible, but OneDrive should be able to answer this need if you're on Office 365. Edge favorites can't be imported to Surface Hub, but if you're using the same websites across the organization you can pin them to the Surface Hub Start Menu as described in this post.1.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Microsoft surface hub Bandwith consumption
Hi Roger, Check out this url for Microsoft Teams bandwidth consumption. You will also see some Intune traffic (if managed by Intune) as described here. Other bandwidth consumption would depend on how your use the Office apps, Whiteboard and OneDrive apps on your Surface Hub.737Views0likes0CommentsRe: Surface Hub Reverts to Skype Mode
Hi, The device shouldn't revert to Skype mode, even if it cannot connect to Teams on Office 365. Regardless, there's a daily maintenance window that should reboot the device overnight. If this is something you're experiencing with only one Hub I suggest to log a ticket with Microsoft Services so they can look at the logs.4.9KViews2likes0CommentsSurface Hub Skype for Business TLS 1.0/1.1 Deprecation
For those of you waiting for updates on the support of TLS 1.0/1.1 deprecation and the Skype for Business app support on Surface Hub, please view the following statement: The following devices are actively working on supporting TLS 1.2 and are committed to providing support for TLS 1.2 before TLS 1.0/1.1 deprecation. Skype Room System (a.k.a. 'SRSv2' or Rigel) and Surface Hub guidance - Microsoft Surface Hub and Skype Room Systems Version 2 (SRS v2) will continue to work past October 31, 2018. Microsoft will update Surface Hub and Skype Room Systems V2 to support TLS 1.2 before TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 will be deprecated. Skype for Business on premise customers should not enable TLS 1.2 until Surface Hub and Skype Room Systems V2 provide a software update." Hi Ron, You must have a Microsoft Teams license assigned to the user to be able to connect Surface Hub Teams client. Otherwise, as you mentioned, you'll get a black stripe where the Teams UX should be. Without the license: With the license:15KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Microsoft Teams support now available for Surface Hub
Yes, we have the Microsoft Teams app available for all Surface Hubs running with Windows 10 Team Edition 1703.15063.1292. To make sure you're there, check you have KB4343889 installed on your Surface Hubs. The instructions Daniel Hudson mentioned will work for this version, by either using MDM or the pre-configured PPKG files. Make sure you choose the functionality mode that works best for you :-)15KViews1like14Comments
