Re: Remove shortcut no longer available in File Explorer?
Asking this question again. OneDrive no longer shows up as an option under "Free up space" and thus users can't remove shortcuts nor stop sync from within the File Explorer. This applies to some users not all. Any suggestion what this might be.3.6KViews0likes2CommentsRemove shortcut no longer available in File Explorer?
How do users remove shortcuts from the new File Explorer OneDrive pop-up? I can only remove shortcuts via the browser now. Where has that functionality gone? A few other suggestions to this pop up: Why hide the share feature under a cryptical icon and under show more option?- Clearly a very useful feature which should be spotted and accessed easily. How do I open this file/folder online now? This was a feature in the previous pop up iteration.12KViews1like4CommentsCorrupt files after using Windows File Recovery
Hi everyone, We used the Windows File Recovery to restore 100s of deleted files. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recover-lost-files-on-windows-10-61f5b28a-f5b8-3cc2-0f8e-a63cb4e1d4c4 All of these files seem to be corrupt though. Upon opening Word files ask what file conversion it should use and content tends to look like this: ÅŸPA300Ø•¬Õ°^ÐÇÄ [1] . Or in PowerPoint is states: The selected file does not appear to be a valid Microsoft PowerPoint file. It might be a file created by a different program. Why has this happened and any suggestions how to open the Word, PowerPoint and Excel files? Thanks788Views0likes0CommentsRe: Move files between OneDrive accounts
Thanks osxhone! The interface is a little clunky and I have to get my head around it, but this is really really helpful. Appreciate you taking the time and responding in such detail. If I have any questions, I might just get in touch 🙂 Thanks again4.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Move files between OneDrive accounts
osxhone Thanks for the quick reply. I have had a look at Mover.io in the past and thought it would be closed down since the help section pointed to this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointmigration/migrate-to-sharepoint-online I have just tested it and it is exactly what I was looking for! When I login using the admin account I don't seem to be able to choose source and destination OneDrive accounts, just all of Office365? When I choose single user I need login details for source & destination.. which is a little tricky with MFA. Are you able to copy files from one OneDrive to another without the users login details? If so can you advise how? Thanks again Philine4.7KViews0likes2CommentsMove files between OneDrive accounts
Is there a reliable and quick way to move files between OneDrive accounts? Be this via Powershell or other solutions? Using the sync / copy feature is slow and unreliable, especially if those accounts are based in regions with slow internet connectivity and we have lots of files to move. Use cases: When staff leave we want to move their OneDrive files to other OneDrive accounts or when merging several OneDrive accounts into one. Many ThanksSolved5KViews2likes5CommentsRe: Introducing a SharePoint app bar that features global navigation
As in the article above How to disable the SharePoint app bar? You cannot disable the SharePoint app bar permanently. However, you can temporarily disable the SharePoint app bar in your tenant using PowerShell until October 31, 2021. To temporarily disable the SharePoint app bar: Download the latest version of SharePoint Online PowerShell. Then, run the following command with administrator privileges: Set-SPOTemporarilyDisableAppBar $true31KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Introducing a SharePoint app bar that features global navigation
Currently looking into replacing our homepage (which is a page in a modern Team Site, with lots of subsites) to a comms page, to accommodate the new global navigation. As described here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/modernize-classic-team-site Has anyone here had experience in doing this? What can go wrong? Does this just create a comms style page which I can set as homepage and nothing else in that site collection changes? thanks31KViews0likes0CommentsError in Firefox when opening Word or Excel files - The address wasn't understood
When opening documents from SharePoint in Firefox the following error message appears: The address wasn't understood Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (ms-word) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address. Unable to open Word and Excel documents from within SharePoint. This has never been an issue until recently. The documents should either open in the browser or trigger the desktop app. Installing older versions hasn't fixed this. When selecting the link, Firefox adds the following to the front of the actual link in the URL ms-word:ofv|u|https:// or ms-excel:ofv|ofc|u|https:// And the page with the error messages appears. When removing ms-word:ofv|u| or ms-excel:ofv|ofc|u| the links work and do as expected. This happens on a Mac and PC / Firefox only. Opening documents from OneDrive do not trigger this error, this is SharePoint only.6.3KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Error code 0x80070185 - When opening Sharepoint files via OneDrive for Business
We have tried the simple fix as described by Kevin here https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/OneDrive-for-Business/Files-on-Demand-The-Cloud-sync-engine-failed-to-validate-the/m-p/659246/highlight/true#M5508 and can happily say it has resolved our issues. Select files to "keep offline" and then select "free up space"70KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Files on Demand - The Cloud sync engine failed to validate the download - Error 0x8007017F
Hi Kevin, the keep on device - free up space trick seems to fix the issue. Thanks. Currently trialing this with a user to see if this is actually a long term fix. Will report back if not. Update on this - the fix as described by kevinmckeown8 above seems to have done the trick. Thanks so much for sharing48KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Error code 0x80070185 - When opening Sharepoint files via OneDrive for Business
Just noticed these posts with the same issue and similar error code. Apparently is not new: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/OneDrive-for-Business/Files-on-Demand-The-Cloud-sync-engine-failed-to-validate-the/td-p/12891873KViews0likes0CommentsError code 0x80070185 - When opening Sharepoint files via OneDrive for Business
Some colleagues have had issues for a week now accessing files which are stored on SharePoint via the OneDrive sync App. When opening them they get the Error code 0x80070185 (See image) Hitting OK doesn't do anything. Skip opens the files sometimes. No correlation about file format or location. We reset OneDrive, unlinked it, cleared space... to no avail. Any ideas? This is Windows 10 with the latest OneDrive release. Files on Demand is enabled. Thanks73KViews0likes13Comments
