Re: URL Detonation Reputation - How do you like it?
Hi Jeremy, how are you? I think that Microsoft must be made accountable for this problem and start compensating their clients for the damage caused. MS must fix this problem ASAP. People can't wait, they are missing out on inbound and outbound emails if their domain URL is detected as Malware. This means loss of potential business and money. Hi, This is probably a stupid question, but can I migrate a Windows 2012 R2 Standard DC to a Windows 2022 Essentials server? One of my clients purchased a brand new Dell server with Windows 2022 Essentials server but his existing DC is a Windows 2012 R2 Standard. There is only 1 DC in his windows domain. Is it possible? Thank you. Best regards Alfred617Views0likes2CommentsRe: URL Detonation Reputation - How do you like it?
Ana_B2110 Yes, Microsoft has detonated your/our businesses with their buggy detonation URL technology. MS should pay clients for the damage that they have caused to businesses. In the mean time, while they are trying to fix their problems, MS should provide the ability to disable detonation technology. JeremyTBradshaw Hi Jeremy, how are you? Thank you very much for this post. I personally think that the Microsoft detonation reputation URL technology really sucks because it does not test whether the link is malicious, phishy or not. Just 2 days ago my friend told me that his MS365 Outlook emails were not being received by some clients even though there were no viruses on his computer, he was not spamming, his WAN IP was not on a blacklist. If he sent an email with just a text message, everything would be OK but if he attached an INVOICE PDF file his messages would not be delivered. I was able to send JPG, WORD files without issues. I did a message trace on these messages to realise that they were being quarantined due to malware. There was nothing wrong with his pdf file except for the URL of his website IE http://www.domain.com in the page header of his invoice. He was creating the invoices with excel than exporting his invoice to PDF. When I removed the URL of his website from the excel invoice template, the emails would deliver. Therefore I temporarily modified his website URL of the invoice header to domain.com which allowed the email to be sent. The URL detonation technology shouldn't assume that all links are bad. There should be some checking to verify if the links are malicious or not. This could also cause inbound emails to be quarantined if they have links in them. He only has a business standard subscriptions and he is not going to purchase a windows defender premium subscription because he is a small businessman. I was able to create an exclusion under safelinks for his website URL but only for 30 days. This is really disappointing. Hi, I received this email today: The security defaults setting for your domain.com tenant will be turned on by May 11, 2023 You’re receiving this email because you’re a global administrator for domain.com. To help protect your organization, we’re always working to improve the security of Microsoft cloud services. As part of this, we’re enabling the security defaults setting in your tenant that includes multifactor authentication, which can block more than 99.9 percent of identity attacks that attempt to compromise your accounts. When you log in to your account between April 27, 2023, and May 11, 2023, you’ll see a message prompting you to proactively enable security defaults. If you haven’t logged in or enabled this setting when that timeframe ends, we’ll enable it for you automatically. This is my subscription, I pay for it and Microsoft has no right to tell me what to do!!!! Angry I already disabled my security defaults in Azure admin centre a long time ago and do not want security defaults on because there may be situations where my mobile is unavailable, there is no signal or the battery is flat. Microsoft can suggest this, but cannot force their clients to enable this if they don't want to. There are many of my clients that don't want to authenticate a second time because it would cause a nightmare with their employees. Forcing someone is dictatorship. In a democratic society people get to choose what they want to do. I read that I can use conditional access policies but Microsoft is going to hit you with an additional Azure AD Premium subscription on top of what you are already paying. Many of my clients are small businesses who try to keep their costs down. Currently inflation is rampant and many small businesses are going bust. Thanks Microsoft for increasing our cost of living and running a business. This is my 2 cents worth on this subject.2.5KViews0likes2CommentsOutlook 2016 not archiving according to criteria
Hi Everyone, I have an Office 365 subscription (Microsoft 365 Apps for Business) which comes with office apps. I have a gmail (as well as other MS ones) account setup in my Outlook profile configuration. This account uses IMAP and it has grown quite large recently. Therefore I watched the following video in order to clear up some space from the google cloud: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/video-archive-your-mailbox-manually-78a84235-bf60-4627-858f-0d07fca4fc60 So I went into FILE then TOOLS/CLEANUP OLD ITEMS, selected the root of the mailbox because I want to archive all folders, selected archive items older then 1 Jan 2018 and specified an archive PST file for the messages to move to. The process starts fine, but when I check the archive, I noticed that it has only archived all the messages in 2017 and missed archiving much older messages going back as far as 2010. Is this a bug? Why isn't Outlook 2016 (Microsoft Outlook for Microsoft MSO 16.0.13001.20266 32 bit) archiving correctly? Does anyone have any idea? Thanks and regards Alfred56990Views0likes0CommentsRe: Locked out of my o365 global admin account
Pontus Själander Hi Pontus, thank you for the reply. I don't have an additional global admin account to fix this. Also don't have a CSP partner. I have been waiting 13 hours for a callback from MS data protection team and have not received it yet. My client is paying MS around $650 for such terrible support.3.3KViews0likes1CommentLocked out of my o365 global admin account
Hi there, Today I enabled MFA on my o365 global admin account. I have the mobile number and email address configured in my security profile also. When I tried to sign in I was only offered authenticator app verification. The app is not configured and when I selected other sign in options I could not select call back or mobile text options. I called MS to explain the situation and they told me to expect a call from the data protection team. It has been several hours already, but no one has called back. Therefore I have called back MS support who just sent another email to the data protection team to solicit them. I need to do urgent administration work, but can't sign in due to the above problem. I find this is poor support by microsoft. Is there any other way? Thanks3.5KViews0likes4CommentsIn-Place archiving not working as expected
Hi, I have a mailbox ie user@domain.com which is nearly full and I have policy called "MRM Policy 1" under compliance management/retention policies with a retention tag of "default 6 months move to archive". The user has in-place archiving enabled, the "MRM Policy 1" is applied to the user under mailbox features/retention policy. For some reason the messages older than 6 months (and there are messages older than 6 months) are not moving automatically to the online in-place archive. The mailbox retention hold is false, I have checked this with powershell. I also ran the managed folder assistant in powershell to force the archiving, but it is not happening. I waited for 2 days, still nothing. I raised a technical support ticket with Microsoft where the support engineer told me that Office 365 Business Premium subscription does not do archiving and need to switch to either Microsoft 365 Business or Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3 plans. I am also told that you can get online archiving as an add-on for our Office365 Business Premium plan, but when I follow the Microsoft provided link ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/exchange-online-archiving-service-description/exchange-online-archiving-service-description#exchange-online-archiving-plans) , it refers to an add-on for on-premises exchange servers. We run our email completely in the cloud. This other article states that Office 365 Business Premium does the in-place archiving. What Microsoft is telling me conflicts with this article that was answered by a Microsoft engineer. Here is the link to the article: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/does-o365-business-premium-now-include-in-place/5ca0216b-e649-4c2b-b073-54e51f5023b7 I am confused. Can someone shed some light? Thank you Best regards Alfred5611KViews0likes1CommentRe: What is the best way to implement a common shared calendar in O365 that works on mobile properly
Hi Vasil, thank you for your response. It sounds great but how long do I have to wait before this becomes a reality? This year? Next year? What can I do in the interim? Create a sharepoint calendar/s? Will it integrate well with mobile devices? Thanks. Best regards7.5KViews0likes1CommentWhat is the best way to implement a common shared calendar in O365 that works on mobile properly
Hi, I have migrated a client(6 users) from Google G-Suite to Office 365 the other day, no issues with that. With G-Suite they used multiple calendars ie Appointment calendar, Court Dates etc. all under a root folder called Calendar. CALENDAR APPOINTMENTS COURT DATES I have exported the Calendars using Outlook and re-imported them into a user's account in Office 365. This is basically a user that shares his calendars with other users. I read that I can create a shared mailbox, a public folder or use Outlook Groups to achieve this. Unfortunately I cannot use Outlook Groups because it only supports one calendar, not multiple calendars. The public folder is not suitable because it does not work with mobile devices. So I have added an additional user that shares his calendars onto the boss's iphone, but when you look at the calendar entries it only shows the entries at the CALENDAR level, it does not show the entries for appointments, court dates, the sub calendars. If I use Outlook on a PC or even use a web browser on a PC I can see all the CALENDAR root folder entries as well as all the entries for the SUB CALENDARS and I can also overlay them properly. This is not the case with the mobile phones. Can someone please provide me some ideas on how to achieve this? I thought about using sharepoint to create a common office calendar but I need to implement multiple calendars under the CALENDAR root folder. Many thanks.
