Re: Automating PSF Tool @ TIMOTHY MANGAN a.k.a. PSFtooling
HiSidharth2490 This forum is for discussions and questions about MSIX and related tools owned by Microsoft. If you have questions for third party tools, please reach out to them via their own feedback channels. Best, Sharla837Views0likes1CommentRe: MSIX packing error on Windows11
LeyWe also don't currently recommend converting Office.Windows and Office are working hard to enable M365 Apps (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to be packaged and delivered in MSIX format with the same full extensibility that customer enjoy in Click-to-Run and MSI; we’ll communicate details and timelines as these become available.2.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Windows 10 and 11 package icons resources
Hi, Following up here, it seems like this is a known issue but unfortunately does not have an estimated timeline for a fix right now. Our team does not own this area, but I passed along your feedback to the team that does own it. Best, Sharla2.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Create custom App Installer experience failed
Andreas Kerl Hi, The custom UX for App Installer was rolled back when we rolled back the App Installer App for a security issue. The documentation here was not updated but we will update the documentation to better reflect the state of the custom UX soon. HiSumit007, How are you launching the MSIX? I'm not familiar with this error so if you could please file a Feedback Hub item, we can take a closer look at logs and the package. Best, Sharla Program Manager, MSIX1.4KViews0likes1CommentRe: Questions about MMPT remote packaging
TIMOTHY_MANGAN A) Yes. The local/controller sends a "remote server" to the remote. 1. The remote server is run as an uncontained exe. 2. No, it does not need to be installed. Everything needed is copied from the local/controller. 3. There are no issues with an installed MSIX Packaging Tool on the remote/worker. B) Yes, the remote/worker does the packaging and the package is sent back to the local/controller. 1. The exclusion list comes from the local/controller settings. The items are tokenized so it is not specific to the machine. 2. All signing happens locally. C) Are you asking for some sort of status checking ability? Or more a notification of success/failure? could you expand on this ask? Best, Sharla1.4KViews0likes3CommentsRe: How do I migrate/upgrade my users from an .msi to an .msix based setup?
Hideonb11155, Great question, thanks for reaching out! This is because we don't associate the two apps types. How you can do this 'upgrade' depends on how you are deploying your app. If you are using a management tool, you can manage the deployment and uninstallation from there. Or, You can use a script to perform the uninstall when you install the msix. Best, Sharla1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: More Questions about MMPT remote packaging
Hi Tim, Thanks for asking. This is an intended use case for the MSIX Packaging Tool remote packaging. I'd like to learn more about the failures you are experiencing. We will do some of our own testing as well, but its always helpful to get a variety of testing when trying to determine issues. Himgregory22, I have just a few follow-up questions to help figure out the issue. I take it you are using an App Installer file to manage your updates? Its possible if there is a mis-match between the app package family name, it isn't updating properly. You can check the app package family name by using this powershell command.
