The start VM on connect (preview) feature lets you save costs by allowing end users to turn on their VMs only when they need them. You can then turn off VMs when they're not needed. We have a couple of updates to share: Customers in Azure GOV cloud can now leverage start VM on connect for both host pool types. You can now enable start VM on connect for pooled host pools through PowerShell or RestAPI. Use Update-AzWvdHostPool Cmdlet to enable the feature. See more details in our documentation. We will update you in this forum when the portal setting becomes available. [UPDATE] Azure Portal setting now available. After you have set-up the custom RBAC role to allow the service to power manage your VMs navigate to an existing pooled host pool and look for start VM on connect. Hello WVD community :)! We have announced public preview of start VM on connect last week! Early adopters could use PowerShell or RestAPI to configure this feature for personal host pools. This setting lets you turn on your VMs whenever you need them. If you want to save costs, you'll need to deallocate your VMs by configuring your Azure Compute settings. We are happy to announce that you can use the Azure Portal too! Navigate to the host pool settings of your personal host pools and watch out for the setting below. If you haven't started preview yet remember to set-up the custom RBAC role first. Review limitations, pre-requisitesand setup guidance in our documentation. You prefer a walk through video? For all early birds who want to start testing, keep in mind that we have the following limitations: You can configure the setting on validation pool only (we will update this post when you can enable on non-validation too) You can apply this setting for personal host pools only. You can access this setting from PowerShell and RestAPI only. Please review carefully the additional pre-requisites and set-up guidance here in our documentation. We are working to make the setting available for you through the Azure portal. Later in preview you can expect support for pooled hostpools and support for remaining Remote Desktop clients. Hello community! We have onboarded a few example queries for you in Log Analytics which enables faster access to service logs. You are not using service diagnostics today? Learn here how to leverage this feature. Once logged into the Azure portal navigate your workspace and select Logs. The UI presented in the screenshot below shows automatically. Change the filter from Resource Type to Category.
