Outlook for Mac 16.65 (2022081201) is crashing at launch.
Hi, After updating to version16.65 (2022081201) through the Beta Channel, Outlook for Mac startad crashing at launch (crash report attached). I have today received a small update to all Office applications (16.65 (2022081401)) but it did not help. The icon in the Dock jumps up and down few times and several minutes later a crash report is generated. This is third occasion such a problem is appearing. The previous two were cured but updates. The same thing is happening again. Just as it started crashing at launch with the initial update to 16.65 on the Beta Channel. The same Finder crash report has appeared after the update. Termination Reason: DYLD, [0x1] Library missing I think Beta versions are being released too early without sufficient internal testing. This is fourth occasion where the same problem has appeared after an update. Each time, the problem was cured some days later after few further updates. The cure for 16.65 took several updates. I hope the cure comes quicker this time.1.7KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Outlook for Mac is not launching after updating to v16.66 (22083100) on macOS Catalina
Hi Rob, Having a second Mac running macOS Catalina and the stable versions of Office applications, I was able to reach the built-in support team of Outlook for Mac and received the following response: --------------- Thank you for your time, Refik. As I am currently not able to reach the built-in support team of Outlook for Mac through my laptop that I regularly use due to this clash between Outlook for Mac 16.65 and macOS Catalina, I tried to fire Outlook on my Late-2012 Mac Mini (also on macOS Catalina). Luckily, I had the Office 365 applications on the Current Channel. Being v16.64, all fired up properly. I have used the built-in support function with immediate response. After quite a bit of exchange, I was told to "downdate" to a previous stable version. During this discussion I was told some crash reports are being processed indicating an incompatibility between the "New Outlook" interface of v16.65 and macOS Catalina. However, I was definitely in the Legacy mode when my problem appeared. The support person simply claimed that there is no known incompatibility between Outlook 16.65 and macOS Catalina in Legacy mode. I have then provided him with the link to this discussion. You may try resetting your Outlook preferences so that you pick Legacy mode during next launch.1.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Outlook for Mac 16.65 (2022081201) is crashing at launch.
Today's update [16.65 (2022082100) did not solve the problem. The disappointing part of this process is that Microsoft is not officially stepping in to tell whether there will be fix for v16.65 crash on macOS Catalina or not.9.6KViews0likes1CommentRe: Outlook for Mac 16.65 (2022081201) is crashing at launch.
Today, another update [16.65 (22081605)] has been released through the Beta Channel. Outlook is still crashing at launch. The crash report is still pointing to "Termination Reason: DYLD, [0x4] Symbol missing". As a temporary solution I was told to "downdate" Outlook to 16.63 as the latest stable release (not 16.64) to gain access to my mail archive.9.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Outlook for Mac 16.65 (2022081201) is crashing at launch.
Hi Fred, Fred_Muller I do expect to be called by a Microsoft support engineer today to go through the "downdating" process from 16.65 to 16.64. I still do not know whether 16.65 will be definitely incompatible with macOS Catalina or not. This behavior appeared twice in the past and were both cured by incremental updates through the Beta Channel. When you have to install only one of the Office applications, you do not have to use the full installer. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac The above link will take you the web site where you can download individual installers for applications. You can also find the installers for the older versions as old as 16.27. The latest stable release of Office for Mac is 16.64 (August 16th, 2022). This is also the date when 16.65 was released in the Beta Channel. Best regards, Refik9.9KViews0likes1CommentRe: Outlook for Mac 16.65 (2022081201) is crashing at launch.
I hope this thread is being monitored by Microsoft. I have lost access to my mail archive of 20 years. Web access only helps with new mail and what is left in the Inbox. Outlook is or, should I say was, running on a mid-2015 MacBook Pro which I can technically upgrade to macOS v11 or v12. But I do not wish to do so due to compatibility issues of various applications. An automatic update process should be checking the version of the OS for compatibility.10KViews0likes2CommentsOutlook for Mac not not launching after v16.62 (22051800) update
Hi, On May 19th, following the latest Security Update of macOS Catalina 10.15.7 and of Outlook for Mac to 16.62 (22051800) the application is not launching. The icon jumps up and down once in the Dock but the application does not start. Some seconds later, a crash report appears: Process: Microsoft Outlook [38207] Path: /Applications/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Outlook Identifier: com.microsoft.Outlook Version: 16.62 (16.62.22051800) Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: ??? Is there a way of reaching this highly responsive team through other means? I do have access to my mail accounts and the their current inboxes but I have lost access to my stored mail messages. Similar problems have been reported by others. All have advised to the standard suggestions. A couple of years back, a similar problem had appeared that was solved by an update that was done in a very short time. Could you please provide a direct to the in-app support team?
