System-preferred MFA not (quite) working as expected
So I've ran into an interesting issue in my tenant today while checking some reports on the usage of various authentication methods. We enabled system-preferred MFA for all our users a few months back. Of the approx. 4K users that have MS Authenticator installed and configured (where some are capable of passwordless as well), it seems that over 20% of those users still have SMS as the Default sign-in method registered. Any idea what might be the cause of this? Where/how to investigate this further? Is there a configuration we missed, or is system-preferred MFA a little buggy still? Just checking to see if anyone else is affected by this in their tenants. We're currently having a lot of trouble [on all modern pages; Communication sites and O365 Group Team sites] where site Members, after about 2 seconds are being redirected to the "Sorry, you don't have access" page. So far we've managed to trace this to the following scenario: If a page contains the library web part, as seen below, and one of the libraries has custom permissions (such as the Restrictive doc library in this example, where only Site Owners have access, not Site Members)… The following happens when a Site Member logs in and navigates to the same page… The user sees the above image for about 2 seconds, only to be redirected to the "Sorry, you don't have access" page! ...Now, if we remove the Library web part for “Restrictive doc library” entirely from the page, and the same Site Member-user tries to log in and access the page… the problem is gone and the user can navigate the page like normal. Thoughts on this matter? Thanks!
