Re: macOS Public Preview - Update #1
Hello Neno_Mark, On a Windows client the location is as follows: Country\Organization\Site\Building\Floor\Room I would assume it is the same on Mac although I have not had a chance to test it. An easy way to test this is just to fill out the properties in Azure with the same name as the property so see how it acts on the client, i.e. set Country = Country etc. That being said, if a value has not been set in Azure it should not be shown at all on the client instead of \<null> in my opinion and should be corrected in the code.822Views0likes1CommentRe: Badge Release
Currently in Universal Print you have the adjacent options "PIN Release" and "Secure release with QR code". For printers supporting the "PIN Release" option you can check out the below table: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-partner-integrations#universal-print-ready-printers "Secure release with QR code" uses a phone and a QR code for release at the printer which would be the most similar to badge release. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-qrcode For Badge release solutions however you would have to check out the Partner integrations, and since you are already using papercut might I suggest that you check out this section: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-partner-integrations#papercut RFID badges support is at the moment on status "Planned". 2023-09-11 Jimmy Wu from Microsoft said "We are working with partners to enable RFID/badge swap support. At this time, we don't have anything we can share.": https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/universal-print-feature-requests/rfid-badges-support/idc-p/3924720/highlight/true#M11351.9KViews1like1CommentRe: Universal Print configured and accepting jobs but Ricoh printer does not find the print job
As always the answer is "It depends" 🙂 You could set up the UP queue as "Secure release with QR code" instead of a direct queue which allows the users to release their jobs at the printer. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-qrcode If your printer supports it you could also go the way of PrintUP which is a Ricoh app that integrates with Microsoft Universal Print. But since you have SLNX installed already I would advise you to contact your service provider and talk these things through with them since they probably have more insight on your current requirements.3.2KViews1like1CommentRe: Universal Print configured and accepting jobs but Ricoh printer does not find the print job
Yeah as I mentioned that could be the reason for UP not working as your printer might have been set to restrict direct/unauthenticated print jobs. Your UP jobs will not integrate with the SLNX pull print release queue with a standard connector direct print setup. The UP job would just print your job directly without being held.2.8KViews1like3CommentsRe: Universal Print configured and accepting jobs but Ricoh printer does not find the print job
With the printer registered as a direct print queue on a Connector Server you don't need anything else on your device. Print a test page from the queue on the server, does it print? If not, then it's not a UP component restriction. As a quick possible solution I would change the driver you are using on the server. If you are using PS on the server switch to PCL and vice versa. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-updating-printer-driver-howto#steps-to-change-the-printer-driver-on-connector Also check the below logs for errors if a driver change did not resolve the issue. Go to the printers Webgui -> Login -> Status/Information -> Job -> Printer Error Log - Check if your job is here with any errors Job History - Check if your job is here with any errors If you see an error that the job was restricted and since your printer is installed with SLNX and requires a badge to login it might have been setup to restrict direct/unauthenticated print jobs.3KViews1like5CommentsRe: Universal Print configured and accepting jobs but Ricoh printer does not find the print job
Has the printer been registered as a UP-Ready device or on a server with the UP Connector? Have you set up the printer in UP as a direct print queue or a QR release queue? You say that your printer is also configured in SLNX and that you identify yourself with your badge and that it shows no print jobs that are ready for me to be printed. What app on the printer are you looking for your Universal Print job in?3.2KViews1like7CommentsRe: Print in A3 format with Toshiba Copier
Hello, You do not mention if your printers are on a Connector Server or if they are "UP Ready" printers connected directly to Azure. Here is a list of print options that are supported by Universal Print: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-supported-print-options There is a specific topic on the page the link points to called "What if an option is listed above but I do not see it when I attempt to print?" which you can read up on which is explaining the reasons a print option is not being shown. However, if you printers are installed on a Connector Server I would suggest you check out: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-troubleshooting-support-howto#printer-options-are-not-available-or-selected-printer-options-are-not-reflected-in-printed-output There are a few steps to follow according to the link.794Views0likes1CommentRe: All printers printing slow.
Here is an article published by Microsoft themselves which discusses the topics I linked previously but more in depth. To be more specific the article goes through each step of the "print job journey" and the impact each step has on the latency of a print job which in turn points you to where you can make improvements to reduce the bottlenecks. Hello, I on the other hand think your time from Created to Final are fast or at least what to be expected compared to many of the regular times I have seen. From what I have seen the total time can increase depending on the bandwidth of the office and the physical distance between the office and the, in our case, connector server. There will of course be more of a delay when using MS UP compared to using a local network solution since you are introducing several steps, most notably uploading the print job to and downloading it from Azure. You can check of the full steps used by UP on the below link and then compare it to a local network setup. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-troubleshooting-print-job-journey5.1KViews1like9CommentsUniversalPrintManagement 1.12.0 released but no updated documentation
Hello, As the subject states the UniversalPrintManagement module v1.12.0 has been released but the Developer Updates has not been updated with any documentation regarding changes. Is there any documentation coming regarding the new 1.12.0 version? Regards, Andreas Åsander619Views1like2CommentsRe: Universal printrs installed, but not avalible
Try this: Go to Bluetooth & Devices -> Devices (not printers & scanners) -> Find Device -> Press "..." -> Remove Device -> Reboot client After reboot of the client, reinstall the printer and now it should be found under Printers & Scanners and you should be able to print to it again.752Views0likes1CommentSecure release with QR code
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-qrcode I can't find a specification under this section what the Time-To-Live is on the jobs in the queue. Can you enlighten me? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-qrcode#tips-and-best-practices Under "Tips and Best Practices" you recommend setting the "City, Building, Floor, and Room" on each printer which is what will show up in the M365 app. However "City" is not a property that is shown on the Windows client when searching for printers which is why we had to set the City value under Organization or Site instead as these are the values shown on the Windows client: Country or Region\Organization\Site\Building\Floor\Room I would like to suggest that you change the app values so that they are consistent with the Windows client so that we do not have to populate different fields for different devices.Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: Universal Print Default Media Set to Envelope
I had the same/similar issue printing directly from OneDrive but with a UP Ready Xerox. The issue was going to be forwarded to the team but I have not seen any answer or update which mentions a fix yet. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/universal-print/printing-from-onedrive-prompts-for-paper-size-mismatch/m-p/3030286/highlight/true#M1139956Views0likes0CommentsRe: Universal print connector "ErrorCode": "-2146233033",
Try to unregister the queue that doesn't work in the universal print portal. Then change the driver to another supported driver, i.e. if you are using PostScript change to PCL. If you are using v4 try changing to v3 or vice versa. Re-register the printer to the portal. Try to print again.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: New behavior including Xerox Print and Scan Experience.
We have seen that on occasion on a few printers. From what I understood at the time is that Xerox in this case has released a Printer Support Application(PSA) that your installed printer model supports which Windows recognizes and therefore, as a feature, is providing you with a direct link to the Windows Store to install that PSA.5.8KViews0likes0Comments
