FsLogix Implementation
Hi, We are currently in the midst of a home drive migration from an on-prem file server to OneDrive, we will be using Folder Redirection to redirect users Known Folders to OneDrive. This presents some challenges on shared computers such as our Library and Lab computers where students could login to any computer on a given day. Our intention was to implement FsLogix to ease some of these challenges - We've had to implement Profile disks due to one critical application not been compatible with the OneDrive Sync and so excluded from it. However, it's giving me some headaches at the moment. It works perfectly in a simple config with one user logging into one machine at a time, but I've been given some requirements which I'm struggling to make work. Firstly, users need to be able to login multiple concurrent sessions - in addition to physical desktops we have an RDS deployment, which is currently using UPD's but our intention was to ditch UPD's and also apply FsLogix Profiles to RDS, so our users maybe logged on to one or more physical desktops and then have an RDS Application open as well. I have been testing differencing disks with multiple physical computers. MS documentation suggests setting it to option 3 should allow you to connect concurrent sessions from different computers. However, after logging into the first computer, the second computer fails to connect the profile log shows: Attempting merge of diff disk \\path\RW.VHDX RW diff disk is open in another session RW exists, Taking RO role then I get: Status set to 1: Cannot load user's profile Further down I get: LoadProfile failed. Version: 2.9.8884.27471 User: User. SID: SID. SessionId: 2. FrxStatus: 5 (Access is denied.) Secondly, I've been given the requirement to seperate out Staff and Student Profile disks in to seperate folders - given we're applying a computer settings GPO I don't see how this is feasible, maybe on the desktops different reg keys via a user GPO depending on who's logging in. If anyone can advise on the above it would be appreciated. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has managed to configure fsLogix in a mixed Physical \ Virtual deployment. We are trying to run the Stream (Classic) usage report prior to migrating video's from Stream (Classic). The accounts we're using to run the script are Global And Stream Admins - however when we run the script it fails with a "Some Error Occurred" error. Looking at the generated log file suggests that the account is not authorised: 08/09/2023 11:12:53 {"error":{"code":"Forbidden","message":"The authenticated user is not authorized to access this resource."}} 08/09/2023 11:12:53 System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. Has anyone come across this and managed to resolve it? Thanks DaleRe: Automate Auto Attendant Holiday Setup
TYoung-OC Thanks for this, that is really useful. The way I do it now I just amend the dates in a single Holiday which is applied to all of our Attendants so it's not too laborious. The only laborious part of it now is I'm still manually going through and editing the Holiday Greeting message on every AA manually - I had never considered just redirecting to a Holiday AA with a greeting message, to provide a single place to amend the message. I'm definitely going to do that in future that's going to make setting up holidays much easier. Thanks Dale4.2KViews0likes0CommentsTeams CQD PowerBI - Data Source Credentials
I've had PowerBI reports setup and shared with relevant interested parties via a Teams Channel for a while. To date I've just used my own account for the Data Source Credentials - but this isn't ideal, when my account Password expires, I have to remember to go change the password for the Dataset in PowerBI. Ideally, I'd like to setup a service account that's just used to refresh the data in these reports - what is the minimum access I need to give such an account - will giving it Reports Reader Admin role be enough to refresh the PowerBi datasets? Thanks godril_ I will give that a try. Yes should it be easy enough to use a transformation rule on our SBC to change the CallerID - we currently use a transformation rule to transform the CallerID on our Non-DDI accounts from anonymous to our main number, so something similar for these should work. Thanks3PIP Phones Teams SIP Gateway - PSTN Number
Hi, We're currently investigating moving our 3PIP phones (Polycom VVX) which are logging in with a MS Teams Common Area Phone accounts. These phones are purely common area phones mostly their only purpose is to allow the emergency Services to be called, the majority are located in Student Halls - as such they currently don't have a phone number assigned to them - when dialling out the SBC (We're on Direct Routing) is configured to set the calling ID to our main reception number. During testing it appears that in order to get these working on the SIP Gateway we have to assign a DDI number to each one. Is anyone aware of anyway to get these working without giving each one a DDI number? ThanksSolvedRe: Calls appear in chat history
John_Mc65 Interesting - I'll wait for my users to start complaining about the Chat for every call again then. I assume they've got the update as it just stopped happening a few weeks after speaking to Microsoft. So far as I know we've had no other issues reported as a result of the update. Thanks3.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Automate Auto Attendant Holiday Setup
Thanks, Yes, having not found any better way to do it I now set the Holidays in advance for the year, unfortunately I can't use a generic message, I have to include the date we will be open again, so I have to go through every Auto-attendant and amend the message on every holiday. Plus we have leisure facilities who work different hours to the rest of the university who like the message read out what hours they're open over the holidays - It would be nice to have some way of setting that message in one go all Auto Attendants that need it, but it's not too bad going through and changing them all individually. Thanks for the responses.7.7KViews0likes0Commentsis a sip.Domain Cert required for Teams Telephony?
Hi, We migrated from Skype for Business OnPrem to Teams direct routing for Telephony last year. Today, I got an email from our security team, asking if the sip.domain cert was still required and if so can I generate a CSR for them to renew it as it's about to expire. I don't recall applying this cert anywhere in our Teams config, though we do still have entries in DNS for sip.domain both in internal and external DNS and _sip._tls in external DNS which all point to sipdir.online.lync.com Can anyone advise if the sip.domain cert is still required for Teams? - my assumption is that this was something that was purchased for Skype for Business (which predates me here). Thanks DaleSolved1.4KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Calls appear in chat history
Apologies John_Mc65 - only just spotted this - my ticket number was Ticket Case #: 30660414 - however MS Support closed that ticket down as they advised it had been identified and a fix was in the pipeline to be implemented. I did find that this issue was fixed a week or two back, so I guess we got the fix MS promised. Thanks3.7KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Calls appear in chat history
Turned out that the issue wasn't resolved for my users. It's a little bit strange as I don't get the issue on my machine, I can log in to the same call queue's and take calls but don't get the chats and when I get users to login to my machine they don't appear to get the issue either - however once logged back on to their own machines, despite my initial test calls not generating chats they later reported that they were still getting them. As advised above the Microsoft agent I was dealing with has advised that it's a bug, that they say a fix should be applied for in the next 4-6 weeks.4.5KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Calls appear in chat history
Interestingly there maybe something in what the Microsoft agent is saying. I've got two accounts having this issue where I got them to login to Teams on my computer (I don't have the issue) - then sign back in to their computer and they no longer seem to be having the issue. Need to monitor a bit more and do more testing to be sure it's fixed for them but it's looking promising.4.9KViews0likes8CommentsRe: Calls appear in chat history
I logged it with Microsoft yesterday, Ticket Case #: 30660414 - however I'm not sure how much help it would be, the Microsoft Agent I'm dealing with is currently telling me it's a Computer \ User profile issue and I need to get them to use a new local account. I pointed him to this thread showing we're not the only people with this issue.5.7KViews0likes9CommentsAutomate Auto Attendant Holiday Setup
Hi, It's that time of year again where I have to setup our phone system for the Holidays. We've now got a growing number of Auto Attendants (currently up to somewhere around 40), the majority of which I set the same holiday greeting and times on. Previously I've manually gone to each auto attendant added a new Holiday, which I then manually configure with a Holiday, greeting, and action. With the number of Auto Attendants we've now got it's become somewhat of a repetitive pain to do, so I'm looking for ways to automate \ make it easier - I thought I could maybe use some sort of PowerShell Script to go through each one and set the settings holiday settings for me. Has anyone else found a way to make this a little less of a pain. ThanksSolved8.7KViews2likes5CommentsRe: Teams Generic Chat
Thanks for your assistance Pvanberlo, I basically went back to my manager and advised that the only practical solution at the moment is a Generic Account, that everyone in that team can login to Teams with. It's been put on hold for now, we'll revisit it in a few months when we have more to to investigate things like Bots etc.3.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Teams Generic Chat
Thanks for your reply pvanberlo - yes, we wouldn't want other Students been able to view others chats, they would need to remain confidential, which rules out using a Public Team. As you say I suspect that this functionality may be part of some other solution, such as Helpdesk. I have tried to see if there's maybe something that provides just Chat that might work for us, but so far I'm drawing a blank.3.3KViews0likes2CommentsTeams Generic Chat
We have a request from one of our support teams for a way for students to send a chat to a generic name - E.G: Student Support, they want anyone in their team depending who is on duty to be able to view and respond to that chat, preferably as the generic name, but they have said it doesn't matter too much if the response comes from an individuals name. It is however important that everyone in the team can access the whole chat, and it doesn't go to an individual person. I've done some searching and not really come up with anything, my only thought is you could use a generic account that they can all login to Teams as, but generic accounts are a bit of a no no here, so I'd rather not go down that route. Has anyone else come across anything that might work and is worth investigating for this purpose? ThanksSolved3.6KViews0likes4Comments
