Re: Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) for Teams Rooms Integration
I dont assume your users dont want to have a license handy for every single uc platform there is out there and having your IT guys taking care of keeping it up and running on the conf room PCs, right? A very basic concept of MTRs (if you want to avoid calling them MSFT teams rooms) is the ability to do "direct guest join" from a MTR into a Zoom or Webex Meeting and soon also GoToMeeting and others.14KViews1like0CommentsRe: Any guidance on when to use a Shared channel vs. a Guest account?
One mega-important thing to remember is data governance. As a guest user, each guest gets his/her own account in YOUR organization. At signup the gues accepts your rules, does your authentication, etc. In a shared channel your org simply trusts the other guy's org but there is no formal OK from the individual user. The external user simply comes over to your place with his/her own credentials. At no point in time, the external user has to acknoledge YOUR rules. For users in countries like Germany this can have major implications. Not only regarding privacy but for example by the fact, that the user's data is stored someplace else than the user's tenant. After all, the shared channel is NOT hosted on both tenants but just by the "inviting" side.Re: mtrenabled Parameter for Set-Place Powershell
thanks Vail, I already saw this. Now the Million Dollar question is the obvious: ** What does the parameter DO??? ** So far I did not find any difference when the parameter is set to true or false? Since MTRs worked already before this parameter was introduced and/or set to $true, I suspect this info is used somepace else. Hmm, but where and what and how???3.3KViews1like0Commentsmtrenabled Parameter for Set-Place Powershell
Hello Pretty recently there sneaked in a new parameter -mtrenabled into the Set-Place command. However, the docs at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/exchange/set-place?view=exchange-ps don't reveal, what this parameter actually does. Is it just for (cosmetic) usage in Outlook's room finder OR does it change any behaviour in the room mailbox on the Exchange side of things? Thanks for shining some light onto this.3.6KViews0likes2CommentsTeams Android Devices Endpoint Manager Corporate Identifiers
Hello! I get various Teams Devices (Panels, Phones, MTRoA) enrolling to EndpointManager/Intune without any problem. Works perfectly. The enroll, they are checked against policies, etc.. all good. HOWEVER, I totally fail with them showing up on the corporate iIdentifiers page. I tried adding them with both a) their serial number as reported in the TAC or the device properties as well as b) their MAC address as suggested by some blogs. No difference. They do not report on the corporate identifiers page ("never contacted )and therefore do not move automatically from being personal devices to corporate owned devices. Is there any trick I miss? Thanks for any pointers.Re: teams and 802.1x architecture
Just a general information as you seem to mix up two totally different things: ** 802.1x is a NETWORK security thing: It prevents (or allows) the hardware device to connect to the network. In other words: Without proper a proper "passport" the network switch will not forward any traffic from the device into the corporate network. This has nothing to do with more detailed info about what applications on this device try to access which hosts on the network, etc.. ** Conditional access allows (or prevents) a device (or even more precise the application running on the device!) to LOGIN to network ressources like M365 Teams. Example: A Teams device like a Teams Phone or a Teams Room System could be easily denied access to your Teams tenant because of Conditional Access failing, but it could still do all kinds of other stupid things on your network because of you simply letting it onto the network instead of approving it via 802.1x. Hope, this makes things a little clearer for you.8KViews0likes1CommentRe: Administrative Units (Preview) - Device Management?
Did you read the linked article OR did you judge just by looking on the URL? The article links to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/roles/admin-units-manage#add-an-administrative-unit Which clearly shows that this is to be done in Azure AD and Teams only picks up the administrative units done in Azure AD. But maybe I misinterpret your posting.3.3KViews0likes2CommentsQoS for MTRonWindows
Sorry for the naive question: Is it enough to setup QoS in TAC for ALL Teams client variants to use these settings? OR Do I also have to manually enable and setup QoS for teams.exe on a MTR aka Teams Rooms with something like this: new-NetQosPolicy -Name "Teams Audio" -AppPathNameMatchCondition "Teams.exe" -IPProtocolMatchCondition Both -IPSrcPortStartMatchCondition 50000 -IPSrcPortEndMatchCondition 50019 -DSCPAction 46 -NetworkProfile All Thanks for some clarification.1.9KViews0likes3CommentsMinimum version of Webex for MTR guest join to succeed?
Hello! Is there any minimum Webex-Version the other side must have running or special features to enable in order for MTRs being able to successfully guest join a Webex meeting? Reason for this question: We encounter the situation, that our MTRs guest join all sorts of Webex and Zoom meetings with the single exception of ONE particular Webex domain. Funny enough it is a related entity of us.. So, what could possible be setup wrong there, that our MTRs are unable to join with the error message of "Cisco Webex unexpectedly ended the meeting. Try joining again" Thanks for any pointers!1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Using Teams in shared meeting rooms - advice needed please
reg. room booking. What kind of complexity do you mean? You can either a) reserve the room via an calendar invite via Outlook b) Do an adhoc reservation directly at the scheduling panel at the door (no matter if you use an MS Teams panel Or another form of scheduling display) c) Simply walk into the room and redirect your phone, tablet or bluetooth enabled notebook via proximity join to the MTR in the room. Especially with the newer MTRoA (A for Android) units formerly known as Collaboration Bars one get get prettty inexpensive appliances, which are easy to deploy, manage and use. MTRs are always on devices even when based on Windows aka MTRoW . Just because something runs on windows does not mean, it does have to behave like a desktop PC.5.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Using Teams in shared meeting rooms - advice needed please
You want to have the flexibility, point taken. However this does not mean, that you need to have a meeting room PC with all sorts of clients loaded like Zoom, Teams, Webex, etc. Like it or not, but "adding" another UC platform is much more than simply double klicking setup.exe on a PC. Means, if you do have a perfectly working Teams setup, it by no means guarantees you, that performance will be the same when starting gotomeeting or so. Which means, it might be an idea to take a deeper look into cloud-sided video interop, like an MTR (MS Teams Rooms System) is able to join Zoom and Webex Meetings natively. Just last week I had an interesting result at a customer site: They had a perfectly working Teams setup with an external soundbar incl. mic array and Huddly IQ camera. However, when using this very Audio/Video-Setup with a PC running the webex client, it simply performed very poorly audiowise. Technically it should be easy because of plug'n'play, USB, etc... but in reality it is NOT. External devices like cameras, mic arrays and such are much, much smarter than they used to be some years ago. So, you cannot simply assume, that every hardware will work with every UC client. Long story short: As much as I understand you wanting to bring the personal computer experience into the meeting room, you might get your fingers burnt. A meeting room is not a personal desk, jsut plain and simple.5.9KViews0likes2CommentsNDI support not yet perfect
Hello! Just did some testing with NDI and Teams. Some observations: 1. According to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/broadcasting-audio-and-video-from-teams-with-ndi-and-sdi-technology-e91a0adb-96b9-4dca-a2cd-07181276afa3 Screen sharing: Any incoming screen sharing will be available as an NDI® stream Well, this means an outgoing screen share will not be available and sadly enough, I have to confirm this. Q: Will this stay that way??? That would be VERY sad as it limits quite a few scenario 2. My NDI streams were always just 640*360/30Hz which is quite a poor resolution. Even when a participant is spotlighted on the client, the NDI stream stays at 640*360? Q; Is there any way of getting a higher resolution. Having the CEO in a big convention center on a huge screen at 640*360 will not make the clients too happy... NDI is supposed for exactly this kind of applications, right? Thanks for any pointers.726Views0likes0CommentsTeams Room Guest Join Access for Webex
Hello! I have the following experience on my MTRoW when being invited to a Webex Meeting. The one button join does not bring me all the way to the Webex meeting but ends half way trough with an error message. There is a small Retry/Cancel popup. Clicking CANCEL gets you to a browser window showing "enter Webex meeting". IF I kno manually enter the meeting id and such, I am able to join. So it kind of works but NOT with a single button. Was there any recent changes as I know, that it did work some weeks ago.1.2KViews0likes1CommentRe: Using Teams in shared meeting rooms - advice needed please
justanotherday Hello! There is a long list of WHY a Teams Meeting Room is worth it aka an even longer list why having a fixed PC in the meeting room is mostly not a good idea. You stumbled across just one topic out of this list. My advice is to go strictly BYOM (bring your own meeting) where the users shuffle in their own notebook with their UC client and hook up via HDMI/USB to connect to fixed installed mic/speaker/camera + a large display OR bite tht bullet and install an MTR. Its cost will pay off pretty fast. bye HST6.3KViews0likes0CommentsRe: adding or deleting Teams devices in TAC
According to https://www.burgerhout.org/gettings-started-with-microsoft-teams-rooms-part-3/ onyl certified systems will report on TAC. Since my Frankenstein-ish experimental MTR is far from being certified, this might the very reason why this one does not come up in TAC.9.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: Teams Rooms in Admin Center: Health status not accurate
Hello Markus, I feel your pain. There are quite some quirks in the TAC regarding MTRs. The behaviour you described is one of them. It looks like it's getting better slowly but steadily, so looks like we need to wait this out...5.9KViews1like1Comment
