"New" to Viva Engage, with over 100 existing M365 Groups (private) - how to approach communities?
Hi, I have used Yammer in the past (pre 2016) and have refrained and not encouraged usage in our organization due to the very disconnected user experience and also not having the ressources to manage yet another channel of communications. I want revisit the current Viva Engage situation. I've let the Yammer Support reprovision our network for EU data residency, so it's completely empty. By reading the documentation I would assume we're about as aligend to M365 as is possible. It seems like I can create Communities that are connected to M365 Groups by-default, but I haven't found the other way around. What am I todo with our existing 100 private M365 Groups that mostly represent organizational departments, project teams, larger organizational topics/interests? Are we expected to re-create all these groups? Are there any useful "migration" paths/ideas for this scenario? I'm really not a fan of M365 Groups clutter and also do not allow the creation of groups outside of administrator for this very reason. any help or further links to other resources are high appreciated.Modern Managed Columns and Content Types is broken or unfinished at best
Hi everyone, it's been while for me around here, but I could really use some help here. While I appreciate every UI change to "modern" in general, the switch to modern content type and column management feels very incomplete and I'm stopped from doing my work because of this. Previously everything was managable in in the Content Type Hub, columns and content types. After publishing everything and waiting half a day, those columns and content types were available on all other sites. After the switch to modern I'm unable to add any published column to any library or list from the existing (published) site columns. I'm pretty sure I don't want to re-created the same column for every library on multiple sites The only workaround I found was to add any content type to the library/list that contains the required column, then delete the content type again -> the columns remain in the library/list and then edit the existing content type to add the required column. Either I've been using content types and columns wrong all these years, or I'm missing something that the designers of the modern content type management have created. Any ideas here?1.1KViews0likes1CommentOneDrive Retention broken for new Users with no fix in sight according to Microsoft?
Hi everyone, For the last 2 or 3 months I've noticed that we were unable to enable Retention Policies for OneDrives of newly created users and have created a Ticket with Office 365 Support (Ticket #:15114229 if anyone from Microsofts reads this). We have managed to find a workaround, though I still believe this isn't a proper workaround, especially not with many users. The workaround is to give me (the Office 365 Global Admin, and Sharepoint and ....) Site Collection Administrator rights to the Users OneDrive (SharePoint Site). This can be done via the new User Management Pane on admin.microsoft.com or through Classic SharPoint Management User Profiles Management. Only then are we able to activate the Retention Policy with the users OneDrive in it. The feedback from the escalation team was that there is (and most likely will not be) a "bug" registered and therefore no fix will be developed. This is the current state of OneDrive Retention Policeis and I could create a UserVoice entry to make it known. Also there might be some work on a long-long-term solution/change for this. No details mentioned. I hope that every admin around here recognizes that this obviously not a proper state. Thats like having to give myself access to every exchange mailbox in order to manage it first. Maybe someone could give a OneDrive or Security & Compliance Product Manager a ping to make them aware of this. Also could some of you verify if you experience the same issue with newly created users. Mine are Azure AD Connect synced users by the way. I haven't yet tried with new cloud-only users yet. Also I can manage the retention policies for previsouly created OneDrive Sites just fine, without being Site Collection Administrator.1.8KViews0likes5CommentsHow to move over 200.00 files in SharePoint online?
Hi everyone, We have one document library with over 300.000 items in it. We therefore cannot reliably sync this library with OneDrive NGSC. According tohttps://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/sharepoint-online-service-description/sharepoint-online-limitsthe current limit is 300.000 across all synced items and libraries. If I remember correctly, this was 100.000 a few months ago. I want to move as many folders and items as possible to a different document library within the same site, but I keep hitting road blocks. When I use the "move" options in SPO, the process starts and takes a while, then says "finished/completed", but the folders and items are actually not moved. I assume it's because there are to many items in that folder (subfolder/items), but there is no way for me to know how many items that folder really has. What options do I have to reliably move those folders? Is there a command line version that works more reliably?Solved1.4KViews0likes2CommentsWant to move VMs to Azure, but stuck with Exchange 2013 onPrem for management - how to proceed?
Hi everyone, Here some pretext to understand where we were, currently are and want to go to: VMs onPrem are 2012 R2, and Domain and Forest Levels are 2012 R2 as well started out with Exchange 2010 to 2013 onPrem (latest CU from 2019) moved to Exchange Online Hybrid Configuration all user mailboxes are in Exchange Online, no mailboxes onPrem left Exchange Online Hybrid Configuration is disabled What is left onPrem is the send connector to O365, since we haven't changed all onPrem apps and services to an authenticated Exchange Online Mailbox User yet Active Directory is of coursed synced with Azure AD Connect So what we have left is essentially an onPrem Exchange VM for creating new AD Users with a remote mailbox in Exchange Online. We're in the process of moving all possible VMs to Azure PaaS/IaaS (Windows Server 2019 VMs). Where I'm stuck is that I have no route to go for Exchange Management according to this matrix:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/plan-and-deploy/supportability-matrix?view=exchserver-2019 I can't move my current Exchange 2013 VM to a new VM running Server 2019 without buying a license just for basic management purposes I can't upgrade my forest/domain level, since Exchange 2013 won't let me Ideally, I would have an option to fully get rid of Exchange (onPrem or in Azure), but I can't find it. What are my options to fully move forward with Forest/Domain Levels and Server 2019 VMs in Azure? Is there anything on the horizon for us?488Views0likes0CommentsMark iOS Photos App as Corporate with Intune?
Hi, does anyone know if there is (or will be? iOS 13?) a way to classify the iOS Photos app as corporate data? Right now we've separated managed from unamanaged apps, but this leads to issues when sharing photos. e.g. Outlook for iOS only adds inline images instead of attachments no way to select multiple photos at once and share them via Outlook no way to share photos via Apple Mail (managed exchange profile)Deploying iOS VPP Apps to Users?
Hi, We have just received our first batch auf DEP enrolled iOS devices. Until now we had to let the user manually enroll the company issued iOS devices and also create their own AppleID is with the business email. What we wanted to achieve is that make the enrollment process as easy as possible and also eliminate the need for an AppleID. I've configured the Enrollment Profile with a VPP Token and can confirm that all this works. What I'm having trouble is deploying specific apps to specific subset of users. Previously I just targeted a user group. From what I understand is, that I could do this again, but then the user would have to provide an Apple ID again - at least I get that prompt in my test scenario. I therefore created a Azure AD Device Groups for targeting my app deployments. This seems to work, but I have a couple of issues or questions about that: When I don't want any Apple ID prompts, I have to use device licensing when I assigning VPP apps, correct? I have noticed, that when I assign an app with device licensing to a user security group, that the app does not get deployed to the device. Is this expected behavior? I have noticed that I can deploy apps with device licensing as "available" but the app does not appear in the iOS company portal. Users therefore cannot install them. Is this expected behavior? Biggest question right now: How do I assign a specific app, to multiple specific users (more specifically their devices)? The documentation mentions Azure AD Dynamic Device Groups based on the Device Category those users don't share a device category deploying to user groups doesn't work (see question above) I would create an Assigned AAD Group with devices, but this leads to another problem: all DEP enrolled iPhones are named "iPhone". When you try to add devices as members to a group, I cannot differentiate between any iPhone (i would need the username/serialnumber columns for that). There is also no reverse way, by going to Intune > Devices and searching for it and then adding to a group, as there is no Action "Add to group" or something similar I'm currently trying to rename the Intune Devices by adding our inventory label, but this process is manual, and sometimes fails with errors and I have no idea why. Also some minor issue I have is, that I added my device manually to a device group after creating the device group but an AAD dynamic group based on this category is not picking up my device and I have no idea why. Any help is appreciated7.3KViews0likes3CommentsEvents Webpart - Title truncated/dropped if second word is too long
Hi, I've noticed that the Events Webpart is dropping everything but the first word from the event title, if the second word is too long do display. This is only the case when the Webpart is placed in a full width section, or half page section, while using the film strip design. When placed in a 1/3rd column page, the film strip design does not truncate the event title. There is also no truncating when using the compressed design for the Webpart.609Views0likes0CommentsCreate a RSS/XML Feed from SharePoint News?
Hi, I'd like to somehow present our SharePoint news on our signage displays within our building. Is there any way to pull an rss/xml feed from all the news of one or more specific SharePoint sites? If not, does anyone have any other ideas on how to accomplish this?3KViews0likes6Comments
