Re: Cumulative update KB5001330 fails to install
From what I've read from all the different websites, looks like, the major underlying culprit COULD BE the Adobe Flash removal update, KB4577586 (Adobe Flash removal). All the updates since Jan 2021 failed for me and everytime I g**gled, the suspect was pointed out to be Adobe Flash. Looks like if either a user manually/voluntarily uninstalled it or Microsoft updates removed it in one of their Sept 2020 updates, you may run into the 2021 failed updates issues. And since Adobe has removed all traces of it on their site, it's not possible to install it, except from a rogue shady site, to prove this theory. So, like everyone else, I had to execute the MediaCreationTool20H2 to reinstall Win10 from scratch.9.5KViews1like9CommentsRe: Cumulative update KB5001330 fails to install
ariqasy Ari & Everyone! I tried "Step A" in Ari's post with a twist and everything worked and I have all the latest updates with no issues so far. I ran the tool MediaCreationTool20H2.exe from the link Ari posted but selected "Upgrade this PC now", was presented with Install Win10Home & Keep your data and apps, which I accepted and let it finish, it took about 5 hrs and after it finished, it downloaded all the following updates w/o a hitch: KB4023057 (2021-03 20H2 Update), KB5001391 (2021-04 20H2 Update Preview), KB4601554 (.Net 3.5 and 4.8), KB4577586 (Adobe flash removal). I really think the culprit all along was KB4577586 trying to remove Adobe Flash, when there was NONE to uninstall, so the updates were crapping out; and for lucky people failing & rolling back, but not for the unlucky ones, thus, wreaking havoc on their machines. It takes about 4-5 hrs because the "Upgrade this PC now" option will try to troubleshoot as well, so start early in the day. Thanks Ari for the great detailed steps10KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Cumulative update KB5001330 fails to install
Good to hear. Maybe the Update Fairy visited your PC last night 🙂 I'm running the (KB5001330).msu executable directly right now. I have a feeling it's going to fail as many of the previous .msu's failed too. I'm still on Win10H 20H2 19042.685. What build do you show after the update, 1904(1 or 2).928?14KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Cumulative update KB5001330 fails to install
Yes, Microsoft and most corporations hide their direct contact info and hide behind an arsenal of volunteer support team who don't have insider information or the technical know-how. I don't think anyone Pernille-Eskebo reads these forums or their internal support queue emails. I used to be in support, we used to get inundated with 1000's of emails per day, it's very hard to sift through them or read them all. A lot of people who are hired to read them, just filter out or ignore their emails. A lot of media magazines and websites, like PC Magazine, have done plenty of coverage on MS failed updates and you'd think Microsoft would notice, send out an apology letter, and recall the failed updates?! 😮18KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Cumulative update KB5001330 fails to install
I give up! I have reset my Lenovo PC to factory OEM 3x since January 2021. Yes, the Win10Home copy is legit and activated! Every update since Jan 2021 FAILS MISERABLY! There're a lot of useless or advanced information on these forums to sift through to make sense out of!! Some of them like DiskPart are too advanced for the rest of us to figure out. I don't want to reformat or re-partition my PC with Diskpart and end up wiping out my paid OEM version of Win10, only to turn around to pay more money to purchase a new license to Microsoft who has abandoned us here to fend for ourselves. I finally downloaded "wushowhide.diagcab" and hid all the updates for now, otherwise, about 10x a day they try to download again and update again sucking up my bandwidth & slowing down my system, only to fail again and again!! I've opened 3 tickets with Microsoft but they ignore helping and no one has got back to me! So we're left to post on these forums with a 1000 people chiming in how the updates worked for them giving advice to try this and that to no avail! And here we all are, still on here, in need of help!18KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Cumulative update KB5001330 fails to install
John I reset my PC to factory OEM reset on 4/10 and still get the errors. Microsoft and their support staff and even volunteers on their community sites are very dismissive and always assume it's us and not them! The updates have turned into an endless cat & mouse chase. There are numerous articles in major media venues about these issues and Microsoft is still not acknowledging that it's them, simply because the updates have worked for a few but not the rest of us.109KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Cumulative update KB5001330 fails to install
Hi Johnny I'm having the same issue and wonder if I need to do the same. In your above command, what're the size 300 & 128 in, KB, MB, GB? Thanks. Below is the output of my Diskpart info, please tell me if you observe the issue too: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19042.685] (c) 2020 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. I'm on Win10Home 20H2 (build 19042.685 Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0) and having update issues since Jan 2021 too. Many updates failed; some tried repeatedly to update, re-downloaded, and failed again wasting my bandwidth! And some of the same failed updates, mysteriously disappeared after a few tries! Not sure if Microsoft finally recalled them and that's why they disappeared?! e.g. Update KB5000842 tried for almost 2 weeks and it failed and as of yesterday, it mysteriously disappeared, but now I'm having the same issues as you with KB5001330, it says, Failed to install on ‎4/‎15/‎2021 - 0x800f0984!109KViews0likes0Comments
