Re: Report message add-in and Shared Mailboxes
For an issue that prevents people from effectively reporting something as serious as malicious emails that have managed to get around an organisations security systems, this is not even an acceptable workaround, never mind a resolution.1.3KViews1like1CommentWhy is "Add a location" still mostly useless in Outlook for macOS?
When setting up a meeting or appointment that is external to your organisation it is important to be able to include the details of the location. However, despite the functionality appearing to be in Outlook for macOS, almost since its initial release, the functionality of this part of the software is all but totally useless. Entering in the name of a venue or a contact's name and it will, almost without fail, fail to find the venue or contact. We should be able to enter in the name of a venue or any address and if it can't find it then we should be able to search for it in any one of the multiple supported mapping services. And, as for Outlook contacts not being found, that is just embarrassing. This functionality took years for Microsoft to get working in the Windows version of Outlook (I haven't yet tested it to see how much they've broken it in the "New Look" version on Windows). So, why is it still too difficult for them to add such a simple thing? There aren't many fundamental parts of information that make up a meeting or appointment and this is definitely one of them. THIS SHOULD NOT BE SO HARD!300Views0likes2CommentsRe: Why office outlook 365 and outlook mail sucks terribly and worst emails in the whole wide world?
If you've looked at the "New Look" Outlook desktop client for Windows (only released in the last year or so) or have experienced the "New Look" Outlook desktop client for macOS (that they've been trying and failing to make decent for at least five or six years now), you would already know the next version will not make any more sense or be any more functional or usable.963Views0likes1CommentRe: Why office outlook 365 and outlook mail sucks terribly and worst emails in the whole wide world?
They don't want to make the functionality in the Web version too good otherwise it'll start to undermine the sales of their desktop apps. They want to milk as much value from a slow transition as they possibly can. This is why the web version covers only the bare minimum functionality to make them viable then they have some nice, cool features, that are not available on the desktop version. This means people will still be prepared to get the better functionality of the desktop app and accept they will need to log into the web version to access any of the web specific functions. I think Microsoft will only look at making the Office productivity suite obsolete, as a desktop app once they're happy most people are spending more of their time in their web apps (such as Teams, SharePoint and the plethora of other web apps) anyhow.2.7KViews0likes3CommentsFeature Request: Improve searching in Outlook when searching an online archive...
New Feature: Make it easier for us to conduct a search in our Archive folders once we realise the item(s) we are looking for are old enough to have been moved to the archive. Current Issues: After entering in our key words and working out from the results that the items must be old enough to have been moved to our Archive folder; currently we have to scroll down on the left panel, click on our Archive and retype the key words into the search field. Suggested Improvement: After completing the initial search in the mailbox, have a link at the bottom of the results list that says "Click here to search your Archive". Clicking on the link takes you to your archive and runs the same search criteria/words.308Views0likes1CommentRe: Report message add-in and Shared Mailboxes
Thanks for the reply Dhairyya, I am aware that there are plugins for reporting, even that these plugins are already supported in Outlook across multiple platforms. I deploy them in my client's environments as standard. The issue here is very specific in that there is no ability for people to report emails when the emails are in a shared or delegate mailbox. This is, as I'm sure you can understand, a significant failure in the security design of the plug-ins, that Microsoft has well been aware of for a number of years now.27KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Report message add-in and Shared Mailboxes
Well over a year later (almost three years after the OP, of which there are plenty of others out there) and this is still not supported. How does this reflect on how seriously Microsoft's is taking the security of their customers? Their advertising talks the talk but this should be drowned out by such blaring negligence as this.28KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Why office outlook 365 and outlook mail sucks terribly and worst emails in the whole wide world?
Minimal Viable Product is where Microsoft are taking all their, now legacy, desktop app development. They've all but completed this process for Mac users, with the resultant "pretty mess" that we have now and they are in the process of rolling it out to Windows users. Microsoft don't want us using installed desktop apps. They don't even want us using installed operating systems, even Windows. They want us existing entirely in their cloud ecosystem and this is where we are all being dragged, kicking and screaming, whether we like it or not.5.8KViews0likes6CommentsRe: Why office outlook 365 and outlook mail sucks terribly and worst emails in the whole wide world?
The Windows version of Outlook can handle multiple accounts simultaneously. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-an-email-account-to-outlook-6e27792a-9267-4aa4-8bb6-c84ef146101b The new look macOS version of Outlook didn't handle IMAP accounts for ages but does now.5.8KViews0likes1Comment"403 - Forbidden: Access is denied" when using MS Edge for macOS to launch 365 Admin Centre...
Environment: macOS Monterey 12.1 MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) 2.9 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 Microsoft Edge Version 96.0.1054.34 (Official build) (x86_64) Problem: Whenever I try to get into the MS 365 Admin Centre, for any tenant I am an admin for; after clicking on the "Admin" icon, I get redirected to what is clearly an IIS type error page, stating: "403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied." When I log into the same tenancies, using Chrome or Safari, on the same system, I have no problem. When I log into the same tenancies, using Chrome, FireFox or Edge on Windows, I have no problem. Other troubleshooting steps: Yes, I have turned it off and on, again. Cleared entire Edge cache. Run Edge InPrivate - No change. Why does installing Visio Pro 2019 onto my PC turn Office 365 for Business into Office 365 Pro Plus?
This appears to have happened multiple times over the last several years (happened with Visio Pro 2016). Cleanly installed/new PC. Office 365 on an E3 subscription downloaded and installed, shoes "Office 365 Apps for enterprise". At some point I need to use Visio so I install my licensed copy and register the product. All my Office apps now show my version of Office as Pro Plus and yet I do not have any licenses for Pro Plus. Visio isn't even a part of Pro Plus. So why change my product description!?SolvedFinding who a license is allocated to...
Hi, I have a client with multiple CSP subscriptions to various MS 365 products taken out at various times over the year. I am processing a renewal for an Exchange Online (Plan 1) subscription and the client has asked me who the license is allocated to? Which is a fair question. However, it seems to be one I can't answer, with any of the information given in various parts of the Admin Center. If I look under the users, I can see who has an Exchange Online (Plan 1) license allocated but no indication of which specific license (i.e. One that's up for renewal now). If I look at the list of Products for this client I can see that they have multiple Exchange Online (Plan 1) licenses but I cannot see any expiry dates to find out which one is being renewed? What I was expecting to see is a subscription GUID that I could use to tie between licensing and users. Am I or the Admin Center missing something fairly fundamental here, in terms of reporting and subscription management?16KViews1like8CommentsWindows 11 Explorer preview pane fails to preview some documents and not others on SMB share
Each month I run a saved search on an SMB share to find some XL documents. In the results windows in Windows 11 Explorer, I have always been able to select the files in the results window and preview the files in the preview pane, without any issues. Recently though this has not been working. I run the same search on the same SMB location and get the expected list of XL files. However, if I click on the files I can see the preview of only some of the files. So, the previewer is working and the file associations are working. However, the only way I can see a preview of one of the XL files is to open it, click on the button that says "Enable Editing", close the file and only then can I see the file in the preview. If I open the file and don't click "Enable Editing" I am still unable to preview the file. Just as I finished typing this article I had a brainwave and just checked the Office Trust Center settings and found the problem. Yep. A recent MS Office update fried the setting I had for my SMB share to be a trusted location. Thanks for another great "security fix" from Microsoft!3.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Mac Users Receiving "Please Wait" screen while using DUO with Microsoft RDP
Your reply appears to ignore the critical piece of information from the OP that he is getting this when his users are connecting from Macintosh computers. Your link deals entirely with Windows only and the software the article is promoting only runs on Windows. To reiterate, this is a problem with the Microsoft Remote Desktop client running on macOS.4.1KViews0likes0Comments
