Universal print support on windows server 2012, 2008 R2

Copper Contributor

Hi,
We are currently doing POC on universal printing solution. Connectors are deployed for UP not ready printers. We have few applications running on windows server 2016,2012 and 2008 R2 requires connectivity to printers, unfortunately I am not able to connect universal cloud printers on 2012,2008 R2 servers. Could you please let me know if universal printing option (with connector) supported on windows server 2016,2012 and 2008 R2 server, if not any work around to user universal print solution from these endpoint devices.

Solution

@Akhil_Gopal_C Universal Print does not support printing from Windows Server 2012 or 2008 R2.

Applications on any device can print by using the Universal Print Microsoft Graph API. If you have the ability to update your app(s), that could be an option.

Alternatively, could you set up a local VM with Windows Client or Azure Virtual Desktop for these applications? Universal Print supports those environments.

Thanks for sharing the details.
