We have workflows that take a field from a list (Next Serial Number) formulate a filename and apply this to newly created/uploaded files in a library then emails the creator with the applied filename and a link back to it. This has been working well for a while. Recently we have noticed that the creator gets a link with the new name but the file hasn't been renamed.
After a bit of investigation it seems to be a timing issue. Sharepoint seems to hang on to a file lock well after the file has been closed , all new files start in Web Cleint and uploaded ones are closed when added so there was no sense to a lock being applied. then I saw https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/SharePoint/Cannot-Release-Lock-on-SharePoint-Online-File/m-p/... and wondered if this issue could be manifesting itself into these workflow issues.
Anyone got any other ideas?
