The world has changed since 2007, end of support for Groove 2007 products

Today’s business environments are very different to those of 10 years ago. Groove Server has been a trusted friend for peer-to-peer collaboration over a decade, but there are better ways to deliver against today’s business expectations and technical possibilities. It’s time to upgrade to a modern platform, taking advantage of ubiquitous connectivity and access to the cloud for scale, agility and performance.

Today marks nine months until end of support for Groove Server 2007 and related technologies.

Groove is peer-to-peer collaborative software. Groove Server is a Windows-based software package that helps you deploy and administer Microsoft SharePoint Workspace when Groove peer workspaces are being used. Groove Enterprise Services 2007 provides access to Groove Server Manager and Relay services through a hosted environment at a Microsoft data center.

What End of Support Means?
From Octoboer 10th, 2017, Microsoft will no longer offer security updates, support or technical content updates for Groove Server 2007 and related products. The result?

  • Groove 2007 and the workloads and applications running on it will become more expensive to operate
  • Security patches and hotfixes will no longer be available, leaving servers and applications vulnerable to security threats and downtime
  • Outdated software creates compliance risks
  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, reaches End of Extended Support on October 10th 2017. If you are still using this edition, you should upgrade urgently to continue to enjoy secure business-class collaboration. This is a great time to consider our cloud based Office 365 productivity and collaboration solution.

Beginning with the release of Microsoft Office 2007, Groove adopts the support lifecycle of the Microsoft Office 2007 suites. Customers must be at the supported service pack level to receive support.
