Extract Data with VBA in the Project
Hi guys, I need some help.I need to extract data from the project to connect to Power BI. I'm currently using the feature in the database model by going to Report>Visual Report>Save Data Select: Task SummaryField Picker (for custom fields) Save Database However, the chronogram is too large and I'm getting an error on this screen asking me to reduce/separate the project. I wanted to do this export in VBA, I even tried using the VBA code below, but I couldn't find a parameter to export the custom fields. Sub Macro1() VisualReportsSaveDatabase strNamePath:="C:\Users\tulio.oliveira\Downloads\Chronogram_Consolidated_V5.mdb", PjVisualReportsDataLevel:=pjLevelWeeks End Sub38Views0likes3CommentsProject for the web non-Default environment
Hi, A customer moved a project for the web data from default environment to a non-default environment. as expected they are noticing some different behaviour. they are very disappointed and cannot understand why is that the case (but thisis for a different discussion) the issues they are having at the moment and i hope someone have had some creative solution for those When a team member is added to a project a group is created, they get the email from group or project, but the link direct them to the accelerator of the power apps P4W instead of the original experience they were having where the link direct them to the typical P4W page Permissions with that group added all users are added to the restricted group where they can delete projects, they are aware of the plugin but still cant get over the shock that something as basic as this require a custom plugin I hope im missing something and there are solutions for both cases !12Views0likes0Commentstask drop down not working

I need to manage a project using the Project tool. I can’t seem to get it to automatically adjust the resources assigned to tasks when tasks with the same resources overlap. Here’s a simplified example: Project Characteristics: No set end date -> The goal is to define the end date based on the total task duration (within certain limits). We have information on the hours each task should take and the start date. Based on these criteria and the resources assigned to each task, we’ll determine the project’s end date and adjust accordingly. 2 tasks (simplified example) 2 resources: “Player 1” and “Player 2,” both dedicated 100% to the project. Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Spanish public holidays included. The task start dates are fixed. Task Details: Task 1 - "Breathe" Duration: 100 hours Start date: 12/02/2024 (a "Must Start On" constraint has been added) Assigned resources: Player 1 and Player 2 Task configuration: Duration: 6.25 days -> Estimated automatically by Project. I don’t have a days duration limitation, only by hours. The Estimated checkbox is also marked. Schedule mode: Auto Scheduled Resources: Player 1 (100% units) and Player 2 (100% units) -> This indicates that both resources can dedicate 100% of their time to the task, but if it overlaps with others, it should adjust automatically. In this simplified example, manual adjustments are possible, but this won’t be feasible in a real-world scenario with many tasks and resources. Task type: Fixed units, and Effort-driven is marked -> The goal is to adjust as needed when resources are added or removed, changing only the task's end date and the hours allocated per resource, not the total hours. Task 2 - "Complete Mission 1" Duration: 50 hours Start date: 12/02/2024 (a "Must Start On" constraint has been added) Predecessor: Task 1 ("Breathe") with a Start-to-Start dependency. Assigned resource: Player 1 Task configuration: Same as Task 1, except it has Task 1 as a predecessor. The Issue: Based on the setup, Tasks 1 and 2 will overlap. Both resources will dedicate 9 hours daily to each task, causing "Player 1" to work 9 hours on "Breathe" and 9 hours on "Complete Mission 1" simultaneously. This results in an 18-hour workday, exceeding their 9-hour limit. Attempted Solution: I tried to resolve the overlap by leveling resources through "Leveling Options" with the following configuration: Leveling calculations: Automatic Look for overallocations on a: Day-by-day basis Clear leveling values before leveling: Checked Level entire project: Checked Leveling order: Standard (no priorities assigned) Level only within available slack: Not checked Leveling can adjust individual assignments on a task: Checked Leveling can create splits in remaining work: Not checked Level resources with the proposed booking type: Checked Level manually scheduled tasks: Checked (even though all tasks are auto-scheduled) Desired Outcome: I need Project to automatically adjust the resource's available time (9 hours) between the daily tasks (in this case, two). It should delay the end dates and assign 4.5 hours to each task. This adjustment must be automatic because, in the real-world scenario, there are many tasks and resources in the project, making 100% manual adjustments unfeasible. If anyone knows what I might be doing wrong or if my approach is flawed, I’d greatly appreciate the help.65Views0likes5CommentsRetrieve the original Project end-date
Good day! When creating a new project, I can choose the Project End date. Now, it's not uncommon that this date changes along the line. For instance, this change when one of the timelines changes in the Gantt-view. I was wondering if the end-date that was originally set and saved in the project, can be retreived somewhere so we can take it into account in a report? So we can report on the difference between the origin value and the most recent value? Thanks in advance!Solved34Views0likes3CommentsHow to Submit a Timesheet on Behalf of Another User in Project Online using API?
I develop a flow that once a week submit timesheets for all users. Is there a way to submit a timesheet on behalf of another user? I have tried the endpoint:_api/ProjectServer/TimeSheetPeriods('periodid')/TimeSheet However, it works only in the current user's context. When I run a Power Automate flow as an Admin, the flow can only see the Admin's timesheets. Could you please advise how I can submit a timesheet for another user?19Views0likes0CommentsAccess Project Online from Project desktop client

Hello! My team of 12 part-time employees and I recently switched from MS Planner to Projects on the web. As they have been updating/combining Planner and Projects we have found we are no longer receiving notifications when a task/project is complete in Projects. We have checked our settings to no avail. Hello everyone, Some of you may remember my previous thread about the same-ish issue (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project/excel-reporting-can-t-connect-to-calendars-with-odata-anymore/m-p/4132119) that ended up being solved by a Project Online patch. But somehow, the issue returned. Not the same cause, since it has nothing to do with authentication this time, but the same symptoms : trying to fetch Calendar Exceptions data from an Excel OData query doesn't work anymore. When trying to get the data, I am getting "Error 400 : Cannot get a CSOM-compatible PJContext for an HTTP request that started outside of CSOM." It seems the issue started this morning on my client's tenant. Has anyone else experienced the same issue ?Solved266Views0likes8CommentsLimiting Resources
I have a project that has two types of resources. One can provide 100% effort to the project (Resource A), and another only 80% (Resource B). I am setting the work effort, and trying to ensure that the durations are appropriate. For example, an 80-hr task for Resource A should take 2wks, but the same task for Resource B should take 2.67wks based on the availability. I've tried setting various calendars (such as a 7hr day for Resource B), and availabilities in the resource tabs, but I'm guessing I'm doing those wrong as no matter what the duration remains at 2wks. Hello friends. I've encountered a strange situation in which I am editing a PDP in Project Online that I've customized in the recent past. I wish to add two Enterprise Custom Fields to a Basic Info web part. I follow the standard steps of Edit Page > Edit Web Part > click the Modify button for Displayed Project Fields > select the two fields and click the ">" button > click Apply and confirm they show in the web part > click OK to commit > click the Stop Editing button. The page then defaults back to the previous state. I logged into two different browsers, cleared cache, and turned on the Versioning settings for the library, using Check In and Out, then reverted back to No Versioning. I will be checking with other admins to see if they have the same outcome tomorrow, but wondered if anyone else had experienced this situation?Solved2.1KViews0likes10CommentsMS365 Project Drawings

Hello community. Greetings from first time poster. I created the following formula (“FY Project Completion”) to assign a Financial Year value based on Project Finish Date (“Finish”): if the project ends on or before June 30, 2024, Financial year will be FY24, if the project end date falls between Jul 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025, the Financial Year will be FY25, and so on. IIf([Finish] >= CDate(#7/1/2024#) And [Finish] <= CDate(#6/30/2025#), "FY25", IIf([Finish] >= CDate(#7/1/2025#) And [Finish] <= CDate(#6/30/2026#), "FY26", IIf([Finish] >= CDate(#7/1/2026#) And [Finish] <= CDate(#6/30/2027#), "FY27", IIf([Finish] >= CDate(#7/1/2027#) And [Finish] <= CDate(#6/30/2028#), "FY28", "FY24")))) Surprisingly, the formula gives inconsistent FY values, even for projects with same Finish Date: sometimes it is blank, other times it assigns different FY values. I am attaching a representative listing of about 40 projects, 23 of which have wrong FY value. I will very much appreciate it if somebody can please guide me where I need to make change in the formula to get correct values?
