Multiple work accounts - no notification from the "not active" ones.

I tried to test the long awaited multiple accounts feature. I installed exactly the same accounts as are on my phone (Galaxy S22, Android). There I see a notification, when someone chats me on the "not active" account. On the new desktop app nothing happens. I am working in account A, have someone chat me on account B, and I don't get any notification, popup, badge, anything. I get it on the phone though.

This is making the feature unusable actually. Anyone else experiencing this, or has a fix?

  • Hi Hooshee ,

To troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Ensure notification settings are enabled: Open the Microsoft Teams desktop app and go to Settings by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner. From there, select "Settings" and navigate to the "Notifications" section. Verify that notifications are enabled for all your accounts, including the "not active" account. You can also check the notification settings specifically for chats to ensure they are not muted or disabled.

    2. Check system-level notification settings: On your Galaxy S22 Android device, check the system-level notification settings for the Microsoft Teams app. Go to the device's Settings, find the Apps or Applications section, locate Microsoft Teams, and review the notification settings for the app. Ensure that notifications are allowed and not blocked or silenced at the system level.

    3. Update Microsoft Teams: Make sure that both the Microsoft Teams desktop app and the Microsoft Teams app on your Galaxy S22 Android device are up to date. Update the apps to the latest versions available, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements.

    4. Restart the apps and device: Close the Microsoft Teams desktop app on your computer and the Microsoft Teams app on your Galaxy S22 Android device. Restart both the apps and your device. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve notification issues.

    5. Check account settings: Verify that the accounts are set up correctly on both the desktop app and the mobile app. Ensure that you have signed in with the correct accounts and that all the necessary permissions are granted.

I am having this problem on the Windows desktop app. I can only get notifications for one organisation. It always shows a red triangle by the inactive one and when I hover over it, it says "There was a problem signing you in. Click here to sign in." It immediately signs in if I click on it but then I'm in the other account and only get notifications there. On my phone it works fine to get from both organisations.

I have this exact problem on the Mac desktop app as well.

As someone who is equally active in two different organizations on a daily basis, getting notifications from both orgs would be a game changer. I'm constantly late to respond to messages because of the needed org switching.
