How long are videos from Teams stored in Stream?

Copper Contributor

I think someone in our organization started the rumor that 1) video recordings of Microsoft Teams meetings were automatically stored in Microsoft Stream, and 2) the storage was perpetual. Forever.

We have since done a little research, and found docs telling us that 1) we will only get back the automatic storage to Stream when we upgrade to A3 licenses, and that 2) the max storage time is 20 or 21 days.

We will upgrade in a couple days, so I guess we will find out about the automation soon. The real question is about perpetual storage. Working for a school, our lawyers are extremely interested to know if recordings were *ever* perpetual, and what we should do about the 21-day limitation.
