It would be great to have a folder in OneDrive be designated to a channel and drop videos in the folder and pushed to Stream...
This is the very first thing I tried to do, I have folders of videos that I would like to add, but to sit and wait for them to upload when they are already in the cloud seems silly. Also if you could have watch folders that automatically added videos in certain onedrive or sharepoint folders to stream would be extremely useful!
With a connector for stream in MS Flow we could do this as well... plus a ton of other things.
I submitted an idea before about creating "folders" in the "My Video" section of Stream so we can separate videos, organize videos and even set default policies in folders.STREAM definitely needs the ability to allow automatic upload videos. This could either be through a watchfolder app on a local deskptop/server or through the "OneDrive" app. I think both should be done. Having the ability to auto-upload to a specific folder in the "MY Video" section of Stream would really make Stream much more desirable and usable. Being able to drop a video into a folder on my PC, which uploads to "oneDrive" cloud through the "Onedrive" app, and then is auto-transferred to a video folder in "Stream" would be very desirable and really increase demand for STREAM (Perhaps by using "Flow" option or allowing Stream to access the onedrive folder directly). We definitely need this.
On the MS Stream Upload screen, it would be great to upload from your OneDrive (using the browser and not File Explorer). I have videos in OneDrive (cloud only - since I do not want it to take up space in my PC) and would like to send this to MS Stream without having to make them offline since they take up a lot of space. As a SharePoint Admin, it would be great to also connect to my tenant and copy videos to Stream (I can later decide to delete them from SharePoint).
agreed. do we have a direct inpoint to stream backend ?
Yes, this would be a useful step forward to those providing organisational video services, as would publicly viewable video.
i have a folder of videos that I am enabling "Free up Space" thus i have only stubs of the videos on my onedrive local folder. if i need to upload a video to stream, i have to download it first then upload it to stream.
I suggest to be able to past a link for a video from onedrive in stream or have a way to upload a video directly from onedrive to stream
I'm not sure why this one has dropped off the radar, howver Ive been building a series of teams Vidoes this week to help clients with remote working due to Covid 19, and was flabbergasted to find that I couldn't upload a video into stream from OneDrive. WTF....Come on guys. This would be huge workflow improvement as the current UI is very basic and limited to local files only.
Yes on this.
With most of the world working remotely now, doubling uploading files to OneDrive then Teams) is a hand brake of efficiency.
I'm a teacher now working at home because of COVID. I currently record my daily lessons on video from a OneNote window using Windows Game Bar, it's saved in a local folder, then manually upload to Stream. Would be great to store them locally in a OneDrive folder that automatically synced with Stream... Please I can't believe there is no other way.
Couldn't agree more...posted a similar request yesterday for the same reasons.
I know it might not be an easy thing to solve. But right now (maybe more than ever) they should solve it... It's a bit discouraging to see this post has been around since 2017 and yet it has not been solved.
Allow for the ability to upload to Stream from OneDrive
This is very much needed. Please allow a way for users to add videos from OneDrive to Stream easily.
Really needed, even if it is relatively technical to begin with (PowerShell?). Having no upload management when working from home with the internet dropping out, which then resets the upload is a nightmare.
Again another vote for this
I was trying out stream and this is one of the things I assumed you could do. This makes no sense to have to re-upload, and take up storage quota in multiple locations. Why is there not a publish to stream or equivalent from oneDrive?
Yes, we need this
I agree. If videos are already on your organization OneDrive account, you should be able to share it to Stream. Having to download it to the PC and then upload it to Stream seems very odd.
Yes it is very counterproductive to have to download from OneDrive in order to upload to Stream. Please allow Stream to import files from OneDrive.
Yes. I need this features for organising videos and auto uploading videos directly into streams.
This feature should be added asap.
Thanks for all the input! While we don't have any plans to make changes to add these features in in Stream (Classic), most of what you're looking for will be possible in New Stream, which will have all of its storage on OneDrive and SharePoint (ODSP). The first phase of New Stream should give you some idea of where we're headed, in which Teams Meeting Recordings auto-upload to ODSP.
I upload images and video for our users to their OneDrive folders. It would be great if these videos could then be imported to Stream straight from OneDrive. As it is users need to first download the videos from Onedrive in order to upload them to Stream. Many of our users are borderline IT illiterate, so explaining this successfully is a challenge.
