The Stream mobile app gives you anywhere access to your organization’s video content. With a personalized home feed, rich video viewing experience, and video search, the app makes it easy to find and watch Teams meeting recordings, leadership updates, training, and how-to videos. And now you can also record and upload videos from the mobile app to share with your team quickly and securely. This, along with a number of other new features, make it easy to create, share, and view video content on your phone or tablet. Each of the features below are available now on the Stream Mobile app of iOS and Android.

Upload and record a Stream video

You can now record and upload videos directly from your phone or tablet to communicate and share visual updates with your team. For example, information workers, contractors, teachers and students can use the Stream mobile app to:

• Explain or clarify an assignment or homework
• Record a class or lecture
• Film a product demonstration
• Create an office tour for onboarding new employees
• Show progress on a construction or manufacturing project
• Document issues with equipment or machinery
• Record and upload an inspection from the field
• Create safety or training videos

Once the video is recorded you can edit the video's title, description, permissions, and more when uploading it.

The Microsoft Stream mobile app now supports uploading and recording of videos.

New features in the mobile Stream video player

The Stream mobile app includes a number of new options that make video viewing a richer more seamless experience on mobile devices. These new features include:

Multi-tasking with lock-screen and background playback: Now you can seamlessly switch between apps while your video continues to play in the background. Or, you can lock your screen during video playback to ensure you don’t accidentally navigate away from the video.

Zoom into videos: Get closer to the action by zooming into videos with just a pinch, bringing details to the forefront for a more immersive viewing experience. This is particularly helpful for information workers and students who want to zoom in on whiteboards, presentations or specific parts of videos for better understanding.

Cast compatibility (Chromecast and AirPlay): Easily share your video content on compatible devices (via Chromecast and AirPlay) directly from your phone or tablet. It’s simple to view important content on a larger screen.

Faster video loading: The Stream app now pre-fetches video content in the background so that when you are ready to watch a video, it’s loaded and ready to play. Prefetching not only reduces the time you wait for a video to load, it also reduces the pauses in playback caused by buffering. In short, your viewing experience on the Stream mobile app is getting quicker and more seamless.

Double tap to skip: We’re enhancing video navigation on mobile. Now when you need to jump forward in a video, rather than scrubbing through the timeline, you can simply double tap the screen to skip forward to the most relevant points in your videos.

New features for the Stream mobile app include (from left to right) cast compatibility, multi-tasking support, zoom into video, background playback and double tap to skip)

Our leaders have for years been asking for an easy teleprompter feature in a recording app. If you can build that feature, the Stream app would be easier to recommend.

  • Hello SteveUlrichTE, we have now added the teleprompter feature in the "Create >> Recording" option within the Steam Mobile App. Please do give it a try and share your feedback.
